Chapter 28: Chapter 28 - A Different Sense of Security_1

Tang Ye walked past Ning Yu’er and casually entered a dorm room. She followed him in, sticking to him like a plaster. After setting his alarm, he glanced at her, slightly puzzled.

He was going to rest. What was the point of her following him in?

Tang Ye approached her and shoved her out of the room.

"What are you doing..." Ning Yu’er looked at Tang Ye with a pitiful look in her eyes.

Tang Ye curled his lip, unable to handle her expression, but nonetheless mercilessly pushed her into another dorm room. Her petite body didn’t have any resistive force in front of Tang Ye.

Tang Ye slammed the door shut, walked into the dorm room that he had chosen, while Ning Yu’er looked at the surrounding darkness. Although her eyes had adapted, she felt as though countless demons were lurking around, ready to devour her.

She was afraid, but she forced herself to sit on the edge of the bed. She wanted to get a candle, but the candles were on the second floor. Although Tang Ye had cleared out all the zombies in the dormitory building, she was still scared that one would suddenly appear from a corner. In the end, she hesitated and never dared to step out.

After dismissing Ning Yu’er, Tang Ye sat on a bed with a slight tremble in his body. Whenever Ning Yu’er was around him, her fleshy scent was constantly stimulating his nose, causing murderous desires to flood his mind.

He got up from the bed and came to the window. As a zombie was passing by, Tang Ye, perked up, reached out, grabbed it by the hair, and dragged it over!

Hehe...

It was confused and began instinctively struggling the moment Tang Ye caught it, but after a while, its head was pried open by his sharp claws.

The first and second floors of the dormitory were secured with burglar-proof windows. Tang Ye couldn’t draw out the zombie’s brain intact, so, just like scooping up tofu brain, he mashed it.

After eating until his mouth was covered in blood, Tang Ye tossed aside the zombie in his hand, casually wiped his mouth with a stack of quilts, and then lay on the bed.

Previously when he was clearing out zombies from the dorm, he had wanted to eat their brains. But as Ning Yu’er was there, he didn’t.

The next morning, the alarm on Tang Ye’s wrist went off, waking him. Turning it off, he noticed a curled-up figure on the floor, initially thinking it was a zombie that he had failed to notice and eliminate. But a clear look revealed it was Ning Yu’er.

Groar!

Tang Ye gave a shout, startling Ning Yu’er. She jolted awake from her dream.

"What’s...happening? Little Mister?" She asked fearfully, Tang Ye’s roar having genuinely terrified her.

Tang Ye frowned. He didn’t understand the state Ning Yu’er was in. He licked his sharp teeth and then looked at the untouched food in her hand.

Upon seeing her frail body, Tang Ye opened his mouth wide, revealing two rows of triangular, vicious teeth, reminiscent of a shark’s, before her.

"Oh!" Ning Yu’er made a frightened noise.

Tang Ye reached out and aggressively snatched the snack from her hand. Ning Yu’er was stunned, not understanding his intentions.

Tang Ye ripped open the package of dried fish and handed it back to Ning Yu’er. She was momentarily stunned but then hesitantly reached out to take it.

"Thank...thank you."

Tang Ye didn’t speak. Ning Yu’er felt a bit awkward. She might have known that he couldn’t speak, but his constant silence still made her feel uncomfortable.

She nibbled on the dried fish in small bites. Before she could reach for the next one, Tang Ye ripped open another package and tossed it on her without waiting for her to finish. He then moved on to tearing open the next one.

"I...I, um...Little Mister, are you going to eat?"

Tang Ye glanced scornfully at her. He internally scoffed, "Just look at how thin you are!" He didn’t even want to think about eating those things.

Having torn open all the food packages and dumped them before her, he got up and left.

Ning Yu’er stared blankly at his retreating figure, a different kind of security welled up in her heart. This was different from the feeling her father used to give her. He was a zombie...

Snapping back to her senses, she quickly finished the dried fish snack she was holding, picked up the rest of the opened food, and followed Tang Ye.

It had been a while since she had eaten anything spicy. These past few days, all she had were sweet snacks like bread. The dried fish snacks certainly tasted good, but there was something more important now.

Seeing her following him out, Tang Ye didn’t bother to pay heed. He walked to the dormitory door, opened it, and as Ning Yu’er saw this, she panicked, her eyes welling up with tears. She looked pleadingly at him, "Little Mister, don’t go..."

As Tang Ye, who was ready to close the door, glanced back, the sight of her expression caused a jolt in his heart. He remained still for a moment and then shut the door. Ning Yu’er collapsed behind the door.

Looking at countless zombies outside, Tang Ye felt frustrated and disturbed. Ning Yu’er’s expression of fear was imprinted in his mind and he couldn’t shake it off.

He had initially planned to build a wall with dead zombie bodies but now he wasn’t interested anymore.

After randomly finishing off a few zombies and eating their brains, he destroyed the zombie wall that had taken him several hours to build the previous day.

Tang Ye wanted to go back, but seemed like Ning Yu’er didn’t have much food to eat. So, stepping on the pile of dead zombies on the ground, he went out to a shop two kilometers away to get food.

...

"Hahaha, it’s a blessing in disguise, hahaha!"

Zheng Minghui stood in the middle of a shop full of food and laughed maniacally. He had changed into new clothes, complete with tags, but he had not taken a shower, and he reeked.

"Old Zheng?"

Zheng Minghui: "..."

Three men holding bags in their hands gape at Zheng Minghui’s crazed laugh. One of them was none other than Guo Nan, who had almost caused Zheng Minghui’s death at the Lianyi Supermarket!

"Guo Nan! You’re not dead? Hahaha, now I can finally settle my scores with you!"

Upon hearing this, Guo Nan hesitated. He couldn’t understand where Zheng Minghui had got so much confidence from, and a sinister darkness flashed in his eyes.

"Hehe, you want to settle your scores with me? What are you even worth?"

As he spoke, the other two men revealed their weapons - a knife and a bat, and began to circle Zheng Minghui. However, he remained unfazed. In these last few days, he had mastered the gun that he had once snatched from Tang Ye. Last time his error was that the safety was still on!

"You two, I have no quarrel with you. If you’re sensible, call me Brother Hui, kill him, and I’ll take you as my underlings," Zheng Minghui said arrogantly.

Upon hearing this, Guo Nan couldn’t help but chuckle. The way he stared at Zheng Minghui became increasingly sinister, revealing his intent to kill.

The two men on the side didn’t move but simply looked at Zheng Minghui, amusement dancing in their eyes, like a cat toying with a mouse.

"Haha, Old Zheng, you’ve grown a lot in these two days. Is it because Brother Fan isn’t here anymore and you think no one can take you down? Get him, kill him!"

After Guo Nan finished speaking, the three of them charged towards Zheng Minghui.

Meanwhile, Zheng Minghui retreated a few steps, calmly pulled out the rifle hidden behind his back under his clothes, and pointed the barrel straight at the three men.
