Fear washed over the new human soldier, his fists clenched so tightly his knuckles turned white. But he lacked the courage to lash out at Tang Ye.

Precisely as Tang Ye said, he had no right to advise him, for he was a complete weakling.

He started to reminisce about his past, realizing his life had been rather monotonous and dull.

All he could recall clearly were his days at the orphanage, primary school, secondary school, high school, and his time working as an adult.

He also had a disease, he didn’t know what it was called, but others saw it as mental illness.

He recalled meeting Chu Yunxuan, his younger sister, a long time ago--two or three, or maybe even five years ago, after they hadn’t met for quite a while.

Tang Ye had a lot to say. He stopped and started chattering at her, then suddenly heard, "Brother! What’s wrong with you?"

His thoughts drifted back to Ning Yu’er. He wondered how she was doing.

In this world, no one seemed to understand him. Everyone feared him. Chen Chaoyang and his group showed respect, fueled by fear of his strength. As for Nannan, she was too young to truly understand the dreadfulness of zombies. Perhaps one day, when she grew up, Tang Ye’s demise would go unnoticed, without even the slightest ripple in her heart.

He started to miss Yu’er and that little girl, LanLan. In this apocalyptic world, they were the only ones who accepted him; they didn’t fear him. They gave him loving nicknames too.

Ning Yu’er, who always waited in the dormitory, hoping he wouldn’t leave, and Lanlan, who’d drawn those innocent graffiti on the wall. All that’s left of the warmth in the apocalypse.

As if realising something, Tang Ye froze on the spot. He spun around, surveying his crumbling surroundings, his eyes lighting up.
