"We can’t even beat ordinary people, how can that be?" Yan Jie asked with a stupefied expression. As a New Human, Yan Jie knew well the power they possessed, and found it ridiculous that they couldn’t defeat regular humans.

Screams echoed from a side house within Tang Ye’s compound.

Chen Chaoyang sat shirtless, his back a mess of black and blue. Clearly, he’d been beaten by some kind of monster.

"Boss is unreasonable, blaming everything on me. Who did I offend? Damn, it makes me so angry!"

Chen Chaoyang really was unlucky. He had planned to talk to Tang Ye about Yan Zhaofeng’s despicable actions, but as soon as he walked in, before he could say a word, Tang Ye had extended a tendril and wrapped it around him, nearly killing him.

If it hadn’t been for his silver tongue clearing up the misunderstanding, his grave might have been covered with two-meter-high weeds come next year!

And to top it all off, aside from getting assaulted, he didn’t get anything good out of it. Anybody would be angry at that, especially Chen Chaoyang, who was a rich kid before the Apocalypse. He did consider retaliating against Tang Ye, but immediately dismissed the idea, considering Tang Ye was a Level 3 zombie.

"Young Master Yang, it’s late, time to sleep. You have to go to the training camp tomorrow."

"Sleep, sleep. F*ck, it really hurts!"

Chen Chaoyang complained while grimacing in pain, occasionally reaching for his bruised back, but unable to reach it. And whenever he touched it, the pain was unbearable. He’d have to sleep on his stomach tonight!

All of this was due to that despicable zombie. He had some issues that could’ve been spoken out, why did he have to use him as a punching bag?

Upon seeing Chen Chaoyang’s state, Li Xiaoyan was struggling to hold back his laughter, turning red from the effort. However, as soon as he stepped out of the door, he began laughing raucously, causing a flurry of curses from within the room.

"Laugh at your mom, Li Xiaoyan, you brat, believe it or not, once I’m better, I’ll let you taste the pain I’m in right now!"

After Li Xiaoyan returned to his room, Tang Ye pushed Nannan’s infant chair to the side, and laid himself straight on the bed. A tendril extended to flip off the light switch, and the entire courtyard went dark.

The night was thick with clouds, the moon unusually high. Where the clouds failed to obscure the night sky, a few scattered stars were visible, their weak light fell onto three figures that had just scaled the wall.

Aware that the courtyard was populated by New Humans, and knowing just how sharp their senses were, the trio did not speak. Instead, they wrote and swapped notes.

"Move out, our target is the baby girl who evolved into a New Human. Try not to make a sound if possible, retreat at the first sign of trouble. Got it?"

A seemingly central figure of the group scribbled this on a piece of paper and handed it to another operative. The operative read the note under a flashlight before passing it to another. When both had read the content, they nodded and moved towards different directions.

The trio walked as quietly as cats, not making any sound, even Tang Ye, a Level 3 zombie with extraordinary hearing, failed to notice!

The door to Tang Ye’s room was opened by one of them. The flashlight had been turned off, and the intruder groped around relying solely on his night vision. Inside the room, Tang Ye lay like a corpse, not a single sign of breathing evident, only the faint sound of Nannan’s breathing could be heard.
