Chapter 152: Chapter 150 Group Seven_1

Roar!!

A speed-based Level 1 evolved zombie leaped towards the little girl. However, before it could reach her, Ah Fu, who had given up on the mountain of flesh before him, rushed over and swatted the zombie away with a slap!

The roar he let out was enough to intimidate other zombies. His powerful aura erupted from his body, scaring off the other zombies who wanted to get close to the little girl. Having no other choice, they could only pursue other survivors instead.

Grr...

Ah Fu growled lowly. His eyes, as big as bronze bells, looked at the little girl. At the same time, a vague curiosity flashed across his eyes.

The intelligence of a Level 2 zombie could be compared to that of a wild beast. In that case, a Level 3 zombie’s intelligence should be comparable to a one- or two-year-old child!

Ah Fu felt that the cries of this little girl were somewhat familiar. They sounded a bit like Nannan’s?

His consciousness wouldn’t allow him to remember anyone other than his master, Tang Ye. But it had retained some habits that Tang Ye had instilled in it, like knowing who were friends and who were not!

Seeing Ah Fu’s terrifying face and the strong smell of death approaching, the girl’s cries intensified. She covered her face, too afraid to look at him.

She was terrified. The smell of death spread in her heart, and her body began to tremble. After a while, she was surprised to find that the intense pain she expected from being bitten by a zombie didn’t come. She opened her eyes and saw Ah Fu staring at her dumbfoundedly with a pair of puzzled eyes.

"You...Ah!"

Just as she began to speak, Ah Fu nudged her with his head. His face, smeared with fresh blood, made her already dirty clothes even filthier. This scared her and made her step back.

Finding that Ah Fu did not attack her, the girl timidly reached out a small hand towards him. Her sobs also quieted down a bit.

"You...are...are you not going to eat me? My...my dad is dead. He was killed by someone, wuu...wuu!"

As she spoke, her cries amplified again. The hand that she had stretched out did not dare to touch Ah Fu’s skin and hung in the air.

Seeing her stretched out hand, Ah Fu’s perplexity deepened. His gigantic nostrils kept sniffing and he moved closer and closer to the little girl, occasionally letting out terrifyingly low roars!

After crying for a while, the little girl looked at Ah Fu with anticipation. Her crying completely stopped and just as she was about to speak, Ah Fu’s expression changed. When he failed to smell the familiar scent, he glowed with a ferocious aura—it was as if the little girl had deceived him!

Roar roar roar!

A gloomy roar full of bloodlust emanated from Ah Fu’s mouth and he raised his colossal palm, smashing it directly towards the girl. Poor little girl, even before she could speak, the merciless Ah Fu turned her into a pile of meat!

After chewing and swallowing the flesh on the ground, Ah Fu turned his gaze to the mountain of flesh he had piled up just now, only to find that the meat on it had long been devoured by other frenzied zombies!

After humming a couple of times, Ah Fu clambered under the large hole he had made earlier. He stood up on his hind legs, grasped the nearest piece of rebar, and climbed out!

The scene above ground was even more terrifying. The streets were overflowing with a dense crowd of zombies, reminiscent of the scene when Lin City was attacked by zombies!

The crowd of zombies was eerily silent, quietly moving in a certain direction. From a bird’s-eye view, it resembled a living hell on earth! Or perhaps, this world was already hell itself!

The direction in which the zombie crowd was moving pointed towards Yindan Base. And the one summoning this group of zombies was none other than Ah Fu!

Zombies too, had memories; it’s just that these memories couldn’t be retained for long. After a while, the memory of a zombie would turn into subconsciousness. Ah Fu had been influenced by Tang Ye and was bound by him, so he never did anything Tang Ye disliked.

During the period when Ah Fu was lurking outside of Yindan Base, he saw the "feasts" walking on the zombie defence walls. But due to Tang Ye’s restraints, he didn’t attack!

Conditioned reflexes could be formed in any organism, zombies included. The habits Tang Ye had instilled in him were retained. After leaving Tang Ye’s side, he retained a subconscious knowledge of where there were people and which direction they were in—even though he didn’t pursue them.

The long-term absence of Tang Ye gradually diminished the habits he had ingrained in Ah Fu, and in Liang City, he invoked the unique Level 3 zombie ability—High-Level Will!

High-level Will was a term coined by future generations. After studying, they discovered that both humans and zombies found the transition from Level 2 to Level 3 extremely challenging. This led to many people being stuck at Level 2 and unable to progress during the early Apocalypse.

Upon evolving to Level 3, the Evolution Crystal or Evolution Crystal Core in the brain would undergo drastic changes and exert a sort of "bloodline suppression" effect on evolved beings of a lower level!

Similarly, Level 3 zombies could also intimidate lower-level zombies, causing those to fear them and refrain from competing for food. At the same time, they could gather more of their kind!

This ability shared some similarities with the abilities of mental control zombies, and though the results weren’t the same, a High-Level zombie could only gather other zombies as followers, not willing minions!

As for mental control zombies, they could directly summon other zombies to serve them willingly, obediently following mandatarian orders!

Night fell, and the curfew began within Yindan Base. Survivors roaming the streets were herded into the warrens.

In the exclusive camp for evolved humans, Yan Jie pulled out his last claw and lazily lied on a long bench, aimlessly watching the video being broadcasted on the LCD TV.

It was the Apocalypse now, and TV stations didn’t have the time to broadcast dramas anymore. Every channel was filled with zombie-related content. After watching for a while, Yan Jie grew tired and was about to turn off the TV when the conversation of three people nearby caught his attention.

He didn’t know where Chen Chaoyang had gone, and he couldn’t find anyone else to chat with in the training camp. Without any other option, he walked over to listen in on their conversation.

"Did you guys know, Group Seven is taking action tonight!"

"Group Seven? What’s that?"

"You don’t know about Group Seven? You must be new... oh yes, you are new!"

Seeing Yan Jie ask ignorantly, the guy was taken aback. However, as a chatterbox, he launched into a lengthy explanation upon hearing Yan Jie’s question.

One of the evolved humans was his relative, who had also joined the defense squad. His position was considerably higher, so knew about some confidential matters.

"Group Seven is the assassination team! It is said that before the Apocalypse, everyone in Group Seven were professional assassins! I don’t know how many of them there are, but not all of them are evolved humans like us. There are also some ordinary people among them. But don’t underestimate those ordinary people in Group Seven; we probably can’t even beat them!"
