Chapter 1483: Chapter 1478: Excitement and Anger

The headless corpse began to slowly move, the tentacles growing from the severed neck intertwined with each other, then retracted towards the body, and finally reorganized into Tang Ye’s head.

"I’m a bit curious now, are you the fool or am I? It seems like you’ve exposed something?"

The monster with a spider’s lower body and a human upper body did not answer, continually emitting those strange sounds, and also struggled incessantly. The ceiling began to crack due to its movements, and the corridor behind Tang Ye was soon blocked by debris!

Before long, the strength erupting from a head could no longer withstand the monster’s violent struggles, and soon the tentacles were torn one by one, while Tang Ye charged towards it with large strides!

But it was still a step too late, just as he was about to make contact with the enemy, the tentacles extending from his own head were finally all ripped apart. The monster, nearly the size of a minivan, flew out like an arrow from the string, scraping off large chunks of the wall skin along the way!

With the explosive speeds of both parties, how much longer could the fragile corridor hold up?

It didn’t take long for Tang Ye to feel a distinct trembling sensation; the framework shook, seemingly on the verge of collapsing any moment!

"Did I let you escape!"

Tang Ye let out a roar, his voice becoming hoarse, and an intense ferocity spread around him! He violently pursued in the direction the monster was fleeing, and with each step he took, the ground was left with a series of pits!

Seemingly aware of the frames’ instability and the risk of collapse at any moment, and in order not to be caught by Tang Ye, the escapee deliberately hit the walls, exacerbating the situation. Large chunks of plaster fell off the ceiling, crashing down, and the dust that was stirred up obscured much of Tang Ye’s vision!

The cracks on the ground extended along with Tang Ye’s movements, and the cracks in the ceiling also spread, forming an extremely irregular oval. The next second, there was just a "crack" sound, and it fell from the ceiling, threatening to block Tang Ye’s vision. In the nick of time, a huge piece of flesh held onto the chunk of rock that was about to fall, and Tang Ye’s silhouette flashed past, breaking through all the debris to close the distance with the escapee even faster!

With such high-speed movement, the surroundings of the corridor were merely a blur as they passed by. Tang Ye estimated that he was less than twenty meters away from that strange creature, but his vision was blocked by the surrounding darkness, and the dim light from the candle in his hand was limited, unable to see farther. In such a situation, he could only faintly make out the lower half of the monster, and he also dared not slow down, for the environment around him wasn’t friendly at all. Once he lost sight of the enemy, the likelihood of losing track grew even higher.

Also, with such a swift pace, the strength utilized was not to be underestimated; as both sides continually accelerated, the corridor environment gradually began to warp. What were once fine decorations now turned into chunks of crumbling walls. The ceiling and floor bore stones that were knocked about in varying sizes, and the straight corridor was destroyed to a state of disarray at this moment!

At any point, the entire framework may no longer be able to bear the speed unleashed by him and the monster, and may collapse!

Tang Ye’s back flesh split open again, and more flesh flaps squeezed out from between the bloody fibers, supporting the corridor that might collapse at any moment, while also exploding with even greater speed, closing the distance one meter at a time!

The once spacious corridor became narrow, and the walls where Tang Ye and the monster passed were scraped off mercilessly. The creature running in front seemed to have sensed the peril, realizing its speed was no match for Tang Ye’s pursuit and that being caught was only a matter of time!

Left with no choice, the rapidly moving creature drifted like an off-road vehicle, turning around, opened its mouth full of frighteningly sharp teeth, and emitted a sharp "Yii-Yii" sound!

"Again?"

Seeing the opponent’s action, Tang Ye immediately recalled that he had been caught by this move just before. He hurriedly controlled the blood and flesh on his head to respond. The flesh around his ears began to wriggle, forming a vortex that compressed inward. In no time, both of Tang Ye’s ears disappeared and the surrounding sounds also came to an abrupt halt. The entire world became silent to his senses, but this time he had anticipated it.

The adversary did not do as expected. The strange noise emanating from its body lasted only a moment. Tang Ye saw the spider’s lower half expand into a bulge, continuously moving toward the human half. He realized this might be an attack, and immediately controlled a flap of flesh to pierce straight into the ceiling!

With a forceful pull, Tang Ye’s whole body was hoisted up; at the same time, the bulging unidentified object on the spider body’s also moved to the human half’s throat area!

Yii~

As the pitch became shrill, an outpouring of white fluid suddenly sprayed from the adversary’s human mouth. Tang Ye reacted defensively, all flaps of flesh and tentacles instantly abandoned supporting the surrounding wall structures and interwove in front of him, forming a large circular shield of flesh and blood!

That glob of white fluid, upon being ejected, rocketed towards Tang Ye like a cannonball fired at close range!

In mid-air, threads of white silk began to extend from the blob, reaching out to the corridor walls, forming a web in less than a second!

And just as Tang Ye clearly saw what the creature spat out was spider silk, before he could react, he felt an immense resistance impeding his pursuit!

The spider web appeared fragile, but the moment Tang Ye collided with it, the spider silk stretched across the corridor was pulled taut without breaking, demonstrating incredible resilience!

Under the tension, the spider silk’s force caused the walls on both sides of the corridor to instantly burst open, leaving a large hole in the ceiling. A mass of rubble thundered down onto the path Tang Ye had passed!

"Get out of the way!"

Bellowing furiously, Tang Ye unleashed his tentacles. Flesh squirmed in his hand, forming a dark red blade of blood and flesh!

Clutching a blood-colored long blade as tall as an adult, he swung downwards at the spider silk obstructing his path!

Tear~

Resistance unfamiliar yet familiar was felt from the blade, a sensation Tang Ye hadn’t experienced in a long time. After reaching Level 9, almost anything he dealt with was cleaved in one stroke, hardly ever necessitating a second. The encounter today intrigued him, inciting not only excitement but also a mix of anger and discontent.

The excitement came from meeting an opponent who could match him blow for blow; the anger stemmed from facing such a foe under these circumstances, without enough time to patiently indulge in this game.
