Chapter 1482: Chapter 1477: Have We Underestimated the Enemy?
A puzzled noise escaped him, and Tang Ye realized that the surrounding noise filling his ears seemed to have disappeared—it was terrifyingly quiet, quiet enough to involuntarily make the hair on the back of his neck stand on end.
Turning his head to look in the direction of the left corridor, though he couldn’t make out the further situation, the walls hadn’t closed in, nor had they even started to close, and he could not see Lu Xiaojie’s figure either...
"It seems I’ve been teleported somewhere else..."
Subconsciously wanting to do something, that sensation of forgetfulness hit him, leaving Tang Ye befuddled for a moment, before he eventually carried the candle and walked deeper into the room.
As he moved, the candlelight gradually illuminated another part of the room—other than the exquisite decorations of the Lan Ou Middle Ages nobility lining the wall, there was nothing else suspicious.
After circling the room once more without discovering the objects he had seen before, Tang Ye couldn’t help but stop, choosing not to continue searching aimlessly like a headless fly.
"Was it a trap just now or an inadvertent slip? What is Dairya up to? If it’s a trap, what kind could it be? It doesn’t seem necessary to set a trap though?"
Remembering what Lu Xiaojie had said, if that was truly the case, then by entering here, it pretty much proved that Dairya’s trap had been successful. At least he had fallen into it completely, with no need for overkill.
While he stood there pondering, and not sure if it was an illusion, a shadow flashed by from the corner of his eye. Tang Ye, who originally hadn’t noticed it, turned sharply towards his front-left at the sudden flurry of the candle flame!
"A trap, huh? Can’t wait any longer?"
A smirk appeared on Tang Ye’s face, preferring direct confrontation with the BOSS rather than patiently playing a deciphering game in a fictitious world!
This speed, it was definitely not something a Level 7 or Level 8 could achieve!
The surrounding darkness was dispelled by the candle in his hand, and Tang Ye charged into the corridor, but lost track of the shadow from before. Just as he stopped, an anomaly flashed by not far ahead!
"Am I being a little too careless?"
The words were as much a question to himself as they were to the other party. Almost instantly, Tang Ye appeared at the location where the anomaly had emerged. Part of the shadow was illuminated by the candlelight, revealing several animal-like limbs frantically scurrying in front of him!
"Got you!"
In that moment, every pore on his body flared open, and a sticky substance seeped out, along with dense black smoke spewing from the pores. The ground began to crack and the surrounding walls, unable to bear the pressure, started to crumble and fall apart!
Tang Ye pushed his speed to the limit, but the faster he ran, the greater the force required. The ground was shaken, the entire corridor began to tremble, and the candle flame wavered unsteadily, threatening to extinguish at any moment. He didn’t care about these things, his eyes were fixed on catching up with the creature ahead!
And then, he saw the full figure of the beast. It looked like a spider, but where its head should be there was the upper body of a human, its entire grayish-white skin lacked visible veins, as if wrapped in a thin film; the arms were slender, nails on the fingers long and sharp.
It possessed a flat head, each side featuring a black protrusion resembling a mantis’s head, with black spots that seemed to be its eyes.
Realizing that it could not outrun Tang Ye and was about to be caught, the limbs of the spider’s lower body suddenly stopped moving, and the ground was forcefully torn up in response to its abrupt action!
Woo~
A strange and indescribable sound emitted from it, causing Tang Ye to furrow his brow, not knowing what it was about to do.
But soon after, he saw the creature open its mouth!
The monster’s body, just as he had imagined, was truly wrapped in a thin layer of flesh membrane. As its mouth opened, the membrane was stretched into thin strands and then snapped, revealing a jaw full of sharp teeth inside!
And the strange sound coming from the monster became clearer at this moment!
"This is..."
To Tang Ye, it sounded almost like the monster was chanting. But he did not stop; his voice created long shadows through the corridor, and the light of the candle in his hand flickered. The flesh on his shoulder began to wriggle, and strands of flesh started to spread along his arm. In just a short time, Tang Ye’s entire right arm was enveloped in blood threads, turning into a huge, corpse-like claw!
Ha!
With a furious shout, he swung his corpse claw mightily towards the monster!
But the opponent wasn’t going to sit idly by!
The sound emanating from it grew louder and louder, and soon, Tang Ye’s vision momentarily blurred. He immediately realized what was happening, thinking the creature might take the opportunity to ambush. He leapt into the air, flipping several times backward before landing on the ground.
But Tang Ye had overthought it. The opponent did not act as he had imagined and did not launch a sneak attack. Perhaps the creature never considered doing so or maybe it dared not?
Yi~
The half-spider, half-human monster began to inhale, the surrounding air furiously rushing in, with the air pressure suddenly increasing to an extreme! Shortly after, a "boom" was heard, and the walls around them were filled with cracks at this moment!
Tang Ye’s vision blurred once again, and he even began seeing strange things: non-human figures, sitting in oddly shaped chairs, holding or not holding a teacup, anxiously taking a sip. Then, what he saw shifted like the ever-changing clouds above, transforming into a series of bizarre things he couldn’t recognize.
Suddenly, Tang Ye’s eyes widened! He saw his own body standing erect in front of him, but on the head, there was no skull!
In front of his own corpse stood a huge figure, the very monster with the spider lower body and human upper body. Now, one of its human arms had turned into a scimitar that had chopped his head off.
Yi~
It emitted another unintelligible and incredibly eerie sound, seemingly pleased, but the next second, it seemed to realize something was amiss. From Tang Ye’s headless torso, where the neck was severed, tentacles began to sprout, blooming like flowers, with black blood spraying out like a fountain!
The monster’s human head slowly lifted to see that at the ends of these tentacles were a pair of eyes with vertical pupils, coldly staring back!
He~Yi~
It let out a loud cry, its limbs flailing wildly as it began to retreat at an incredible speed. But as it passed Tang Ye’s head, the head suddenly exploded, and countless tentacles grabbed at its limbs, forcefully pulling towards Tang Ye’s headless body!
