Chapter 1484: Chapter 1479: The Hall at the End
A single slash, forcibly grinding through several strands of spider silk, Tang Ye didn’t even think, as he swung his blade a second time, the next slash following closely!
After quickly delivering four or five consecutive slashes, the clump of spider silk blocking his path snapped instantly, shriveling down!
"What other tricks do you have? Come at me!"
He stared at the creature that only showed its rear and roared angrily, his face wearing a ferocious grin as he brandished his knife and charged forward once more!
Sensing that Tang Ye had cut through its web, the creature’s human head turned to glance back, seemingly surprised, before quickly turning its body around again, retreating rapidly while its spider abdomen swelled another round lump just like a second before!
But as the saying goes, once bitten, twice shy; having already seen this trick before, Tang Ye knew what the creature was planning to do. How could he honestly just wait for the enemy’s ability to charge up before taking it head-on?
"Scram!"
Tang Ye extended an arm and swung it heavily forward, and then, the flesh flaps on his back whooshed towards the creature with a smack!
The strong force of the blow whipped up a fierce wind, peeling layers off the already dilapidated walls around them. The large chunks of stone were picked up by the gale, not even having the chance to fly far before being torn to shreds by the formidable tearing force carried by the wind!
Tang Ye’s flesh flaps coiled into a mass, instantly bridging the distance between them, and struck precisely on the lump of spider silk that was crawling towards the human body!
Hee~
The monster let out a strange cry, its huge body sent flying by the power of the flesh flaps, not knowing how far it went. Tang Ye closely followed, his flesh flaps waving, inflicting an unmatched savage and horrifying killing intent towards its human abdominal area!
Heehee~
After groaning in pain twice, the creature saw Tang Ye’s flesh flap quickly enlarging in its eyes. In the next moment, its body, which had been lying on the ground, stood up hastily. However, its effort was a step too late. At this level, even a moment’s delay could cause a fatal blow!
Before it could even begin to flee, the flesh flaps writhed, revealing their bony, spiked fronts as they extended to either side, dragging up a cloud of dust, and grabbed onto its body with one swift motion!
Eee~ Heeh~
As its enraged roar rang out, Tang Ye on the other side also let out a fierce roar, using his strength to control his flesh flaps, which had wrapped around the creature’s massive waist before they started pulling forcefully towards himself!
The creature struggled desperately, but Tang Ye could feel its strength was not powerful. To be precise, among the Level 9 ranks, it was in a lower position. No matter how hard it tried to struggle, when facing Tang Ye’s power, it was involuntarily being pulled towards him!
As they drew closer, it started to panic, its mouth filled with sharp teeth letting out a spine-chilling shriek. Ultimately, it made a move that Tang Ye hadn’t expected.
Its arm once again transformed into a sharp, curved knife. The knife it flashed was not aimed at Tang Ye, but at itself!
As a flash of cold light passed in an instant, the creature’s huge abdomen was bisected, and the force Tang Ye exerted on his flesh flaps all of a sudden lost its grip, causing him to uncontrollably stagger backward!
With the abdomen severed from the body, the outer flesh was instantly stretched into strands, and under the remaining force from Tang Ye, the waist connected by some strands of muscle was abruptly torn apart, as various organs unfamiliar and familiar to Tang Ye spilled out!
The strange-colored bodily fluid sprayed everywhere on the ground, instantly filling the air with an indescribable odor.
After breaking free from Tang Ye’s grasp, the other party didn’t hesitate for a moment and started sprinting with the few remaining limbs it had!
Tang Ye’s body jerked, retracting his flesh flaps, and with a bend of his legs, he "whooshed" forward in pursuit!
"Think you can run?!"
Gaining speed, his eyes locked onto the fleeing monster’s incomplete form with unyielding determination to capture it.
Yi~ Yi~
In the chase, the sounds coming from the creature became more frantic, like chanting something or perhaps cursing something.
Sensing something, Tang Ye narrowed his eyes, hesitated for a moment, but didn’t stop; for some reason, he felt the ground changing around him, yet couldn’t quite figure out the problem.
Soon, a potentially troubling thought struck Tang Ye: were these corridors always this long?
Since he started chasing the creature, Tang Ye had been pushing to his maximum speed. He had been running as if he were racing across half of China, yet this corridor seemed to have no end, with only the range illuminated by candlelight visible, and pure darkness enveloping everything else!
As time passed, the creature ahead became more agitated, its sounds evolving from chants to what seemed like curses, as if hindered by something, unable to use its abilities, growing increasingly angry and desperate.
After a short while, Tang Ye noticed a change in the angle of the corridor’s floor, which began to tilt to one side, and the gravity started to change as well!
He watched the creature climb up the wall, moving swiftly without falling off, and Tang Ye himself ran from the ground to the right wall, then the gravity slowly shifted to where the right wall met the ceiling, eventually allowing him to walk upside down on the ceiling!
Now, with gravity rooted in the ceiling, the original floor became the new ceiling. Looking backward due to their movement, the corridor had become battered and broken, with chunks of rock continuously falling, burying everything behind them!
Perhaps it was an illusion, but Tang Ye saw light appearing in front of the creature, similar to the glow from his candle, and the pursued monster seemed to notice the anomaly ahead, its voice abruptly turning shrill.
Soon, just seconds after the light was spotted by both, it rapidly expanded, and both Tang Ye and his quarry charged into it!
He~!
With a roar, the chased creature couldn’t brake in time and slammed headfirst into the wall!
Boom!
The deafening sound made one’s body tremble involuntarily from the shockwave; Tang Ye quickly decelerated, his legs piercing the ground like steel pins, tearing up a thick layer!
His first instinct was to scope out his surroundings; this place was a hall, lit by rows of candles on the surrounding walls, their glow illuminating the area. After the spider-human hybrid monster collided with the wall, the entire hall shook violently, and large cracks covered the walls, floor, and ceiling!
