Chapter 96: The Oracle’s Revelation

The air in the charged with an electric tension as Susan stood at the center, her posture rigid yet trembling slightly.

Her companions, Adam and Leo, watched her closely, their expressions a mixture of anticipation and unease.

The Oracle’s presence was near, an otherworldly force that filled the room with a heavy, almost suffocating atmosphere.

Just as Susan prepared to speak the incantation to summon the Oracle, she hesitated, her lips parting but no words escaping.

Her sudden stillness sent a ripple of surprise through her companions. Adam frowned deeply, stepping closer.

"What’s wrong, Susan?" Adam asked, his voice firm but laced with concern.

Leo, standing beside him, crossed his arms and added, "You were about to call the Oracle. Why stop now?"

Susan turned to face them, her expression softening into a sheepish smile. "I... I don’t know what question to ask."

Adam blinked, taken aback. "What?" His hand met his forehead in exasperation. "You mean to tell me that after all this buildup, you have no question in mind?"

Her embarrassment deepened, and she gave a nervous laugh. "I got so caught up in the thought of summoning the Oracle that every question I had just... vanished."

Leo chuckled lightly, though his smile carried a hint of sarcasm. "No big deal, Susan. Just take a moment and think of something. Ask anything important to you or... us."

Adam sighed, rubbing his temple as if the exchange was sapping his patience. Then, a thought struck him. What if I give her a question? He mused silently, his gaze flickering toward Susan.

"Alright," Adam said finally, his tone serious. "Ask the Oracle what the greatest danger in this world."

The suggestion silenced the room. Susan’s smile faded, replaced by a contemplative expression.

Leo exchanged a glance with Adam, then nodded. "That’s... a good question. We need to know."

Susan’s gaze lingered on Adam, then Leo, before she nodded decisively. "Alright," she said, her voice steadier now.

Susan stepped forward, closing her eyes and drawing a deep breath. Adam gestured to the small, glowing creature perched on Susan’s shoulder—Christian, the sentient fairy-like being no larger than a clenched fist.

"Ready?" Adam asked, his voice low.

Christian flitted into the air, hovering just above Susan’s forehead.

With her tiny hands glowing faintly, she touched Susan’s brow. A soft, warm light emanated from the connection.

The atmosphere shifted. The room darkened as if the light from every corner of the space had been consumed.

A strange hum filled the air, vibrating through their bones.

Susan began murmuring in a voice that was not entirely her own, the ancient incantation flowing from her lips.

Adam and Leo watched as Susan’s body tensed. Her eyelids fluttered briefly before falling shut, and her breathing became shallow.

Inside her mind, Susan was plunged into a void—a vast, infinite darkness that stretched endlessly in every direction.

She felt her heart racing, panic setting in. Her lips trembled, and she instinctively reached out, but her fingers grasped only emptiness.

"Leo..." she whispered, her voice fragile.

And then she felt it—a hand gripping hers firmly. A surge of comfort washed over her as she recognized the warmth of Leo’s presence.

"Stay calm," came his voice, though faint and distant. "I’m here with you."

Susan steadied herself, squeezing his hand in reassurance. Though she couldn’t see him in the void, the connection anchored her.

Ahead of her, a faint light emerged, growing brighter with every passing moment.

It was a piercing, radiant glow that seemed both inviting and menacing.

"Speak" a voice boomed from the light. It was neither male nor female but carried a weight that shook her core.

Susan’s throat tightened, but she forced herself to remember Adam’s words.

She drew a shaky breath and asked, "What is the great-.....?"

The light pulsed violently in response, and Susan flinched.

In the real world, Adam and Leo watched anxiously. Susan’s body glowed faintly, beads of sweat forming on her forehead. Her hands trembled at her sides.

"What’s happening to her?" Leo asked, panic creeping into his voice.

Adam didn’t answer immediately. His sharp senses had detected something alarming—a surge of massive, raw energy radiating from Susan.

It wasn’t just any energy; it was overwhelming, like a beacon that could attract the attention of anyone nearby who was powerful enough to sense it.

"If someone with strong abilities is out there," Adam muttered under his breath, "they’ll know about us. They’ll know about her."

Leo turned to him, frustration in his eyes. "Adam, focus! What’s happening to her?"

"She’s in a trance," Adam said grimly. "She’s speaking to the Oracle. Just keep her steady."

Leo tightened his grip on Susan’s hand. "Susan, I’m here. Hold on."

Inside the void, the light before Susan grew brighter, almost blinding. She felt its intensity press against her, as though it were testing her resolve.

"Ask your question," the voice commanded again.

Susan inhaled deeply. "I want to know who or what poses the greatest danger to this world."

The light pulsed, its brightness swelling to an unbearable intensity.

Outside, Christian hovered near Susan’s forehead, her tiny hands glowing as she tried to soothe the energy radiating from Susan’s body.

Susan’s eyes snapped open, her body jolting as though she had been struck by lightning.

The sudden movement startled Leo, who caught her before she could collapse.

"Susan! Are you okay?" Leo’s voice was thick with worry.

Susan groaned, placing her hands on the cold floor for stability. Her breaths came in ragged gasps, and her entire body trembled.

"I’m... fine," she whispered.

Adam crouched beside her, his sharp eyes scanning her for any signs of injury. "What happened in there?"

Susan looked up at him, her face pale but determined. For a moment, she said nothing, her lips pressing into a thin line.

"Well?" Adam prompted, his tone edged with impatience.

Leo interjected, his frustration evident. "Adam, give her a moment!"

But Susan raised a hand, silencing them both. "No. I need to tell you."

Adam and Leo leaned closer, their curiosity piqued.

Susan’s voice wavered as she began. "When I asked the Oracle, it showed me... darkness. Endless darkness. And then a light. It spoke to me."

"I asked him about your question?"

Adam frowned. "What did it say?"

Susan hesitated, her gaze locking with Adam’s. Slowly, she raised a trembling finger and pointed directly at him.

"It said... you. You are the greatest danger to this world."

The room fell deathly silent. Adam’s expression remained unreadable, but the tension in the air was palpable.

Leo’s eyes darted between the two, his jaw tightening.

And so the Chapter ended, the revelation hanging over them like a storm about to break.
