Chapter 91: Unexpected Visitors
The faint buzz of the alarm clock shattered the tranquil silence of Adam’s room at precisely 6:00 AM.
His hand reached out instinctively to silence the sound.
As he turned his head, his gaze fell upon Tayo, the golden-haired spirit, peacefully nestled beside him.
Her delicate blush-colored wings were folded gently around her, glinting softly in the morning light.
Strands of her shimmering hair spilled like liquid gold across the bed.
A small smile played on Adam’s lips as he observed her serene form.
With careful movements, he got up, ensuring not to disturb her, and began preparing for the day ahead.
Just as he reached for his clothes, a sudden thought of his parents crossing paths with Tayo made him pause.
Without a second’s hesitation, Adam teleported out of the house, avoiding an awkward encounter, and landed in the nearby park.
The cool morning air greeted him as he stretched, the tranquil surroundings amplifying the sound of his quickened footsteps as he began running laps around the park.
Adam decided to push his limits today, initiating Level 3 of the intense workout routine that Pratham had left on his phone before departing.
Each exercise was more grueling than the last, testing both his strength and endurance.
An hour and a half later, drenched in sweat but invigorated, Adam transitioned to meditation.
As he sank into a state of calm, he felt a soft flutter in the air.
Opening his eyes, he saw Tayo hovering before him, her wings spreading out in iridescent arcs.
"Why didn’t you leave me at home?, lord adam" she asked, her voice laced with both concern and a hint of reproach. "I don’t need rest. What I need is to stay by your side."
Her words struck a chord deep within Adam. Memories of someone else, someone equally insistent on staying close, surfaced in his mind.
His heart ached briefly as he murmured to himself, It’s only been a day since she left... I hope she’s doing well.
Looking up at Tayo, Adam apologized sincerely. "I thought you needed to recover. I didn’t want to disturb you."
Tayo’s response was immediate and heartfelt. "My greatest satisfaction lies in serving you. Rest means nothing to me compared to your presence."
Adam couldn’t help but chuckle softly at her earnestness. "Alright," he said, standing up and dusting himself off. "Next time, I won’t leave you behind. Let’s head back home."
As they began walking, Adam noticed an unusual stillness in the air.
The morning was always quiet, but today the silence was unnerving, almost suffocating.
The memory of last night’s event flickered in his mind—how he had used Tayo’s power to revert the vampires in the city back into humans.
Arriving home, Adam teleported himself and Tayo directly into his room, bypassing any potential distractions from his family.
---
After a quick breakfast, Adam retreated to his room. Sitting on his chair, he began discussing strategic locations with Tayo where their next strike could inflict the most damage on the remaining vampires.
Their conversation was interrupted by the sound of his mother calling from downstairs.
"Adam! Your friend is here!"
Surprised, Adam frowned. Friend? he thought. He wasn’t expecting anyone.
"Send them up," he called back.
Moments later, the door creaked open to reveal Leo stepping in, and to Adam’s shock, Susan followed close behind him.
Adam stood abruptly, the sight of Susan catching him completely off guard.
"Is something wrong?" he asked, his eyes shifting between the two of them.
Leo and Susan exchanged hesitant glances. "Why don’t we sit and talk?" Leo suggested.
Adam gestured toward his bed, where the two settled down.
Pulling a chair closer, Adam leaned forward, his curiosity evident. "Well? Are you going to explain, or just communicate through looks?"
Leo nodded toward Susan, who took a deep breath, visibly nervous.
Adam’s patience was wearing thin when Leo finally spoke. "Adam, I’ve trusted you since we were kids. That’s why I came here today... with her."
He placed a reassuring hand on Susan’s. She glanced at him before turning her gaze to Adam.
"Susan has a power," Leo continued. "She not one of us."
Adam blinked, processing the revelation. He leaned back slightly, his mind racing. "Why are you telling me this now?" he asked cautiously.
Susan’s voice was shaky but determined. "Because my power... it pointed to you."
Adam’s confusion deepened. "Pointed? What do you mean?"
Leo answered, "Her power seems to have a voice. It guided her here, specifically to you."
Adam was taken aback. "What exactly is your power?"
Susan hesitated. "I... don’t know fully yet. But there’s always a voice in my mind. It’s constant."
Leo interjected, "The voice told her you have a power too."
A heavy silence fell over the room. Adam’s shoulders slumped slightly as he chuckled awkwardly. "I didn’t tell you because I didn’t want to put you in danger."
Leo exhaled sharply. "I figured as much. You’ve been acting differently for a while now."
Curiosity got the better of Leo. "So, what is your power, Adam?"
Instead of answering directly, Adam raised his hand. Tayo, understanding his intent, perched delicately on his palm.
To Leo and Susan, it seemed like Adam’s hand was empty, but Susan suddenly winced, clutching her head.
"The voice..." she murmured through the pain. "It’s saying... there’s a powerful spirit on his hand."
Adam’s brow furrowed in concern. "You okay?"
Susan nodded weakly, though her head throbbed. "The voice... it’s loud."
Adam, intrigued by her power, whispered, "Tayo, visible mode."
A faint purple screen appeared before him, prompting him to confirm visibility for others. With a quick tap, Tayo’s form shimmered into existence.
Both Leo and Susan gasped as they beheld the radiant, golden-winged spirit.
"This is Tayo," Adam explained.
Leo’s voice was barely a whisper. "She’s the one who turned the vampires back into humans, isn’t she?"
Adam nodded, a faint smile playing on his lips as he watched their awestruck expressions.
The Chapter concluded with the room bathed in Tayo’s golden glow, leaving the trio bound by secrets, powers, and newfound trust.
