Chapter 90: Neighbourhood secure

Chapter 90: Neighbourhood secure

The city shivered under the moon’s silver gaze, its streets a web of shadows and faintly flickering lights.

A deeper darkness stirred within, spreading silently like a plague.

At the heart of this darkness were three formidable figures—Generals of the Vampire Lord—sent to convert as many humans as possible into their vampiric kin.

Among these generals was Ethan, whose crimson eyes glowed with an unsettling intensity.

Strolling through a dimly lit street, he halted as his gaze fell upon a small house.

Its windows glimmered with warm light, revealing a scene of normalcy that felt alien in the current chaos.

A family sat around a wooden dining table, their laughter and conversation muffled but clear enough to betray their unity.

Ethan’s lips curled into a predatory grin. "This will do," he murmured, stepping toward the house.

Inside, a middle-aged man stood up abruptly as the front door creaked open, revealing the tall, sinister figure of Ethan.

The man’s protective instincts flared as he barked, "Who are you? What are you doing here?"

Before he could react further, Ethan’s blood-red eyes locked onto his.

The man froze mid-step, a cold sweat breaking out on his forehead.

As soon as he saw the man’s red eyes he realized that there was a vampire in front of him.

He turned toward his family—a wife, a teenage daughter, and a younger girl around eighteen—his face a mask of terror. "Run!" he tried to scream, but his voice faltered.

Ethan felt great seeing this fear, ever since he became a vampire he has become used to seeing this fear and he gets a very satisfying feeling whenever he sees this fear.

Ethan chuckled darkly, his voice smooth as silk yet dripping with malice. "No need to run. This will be over soon."

The floor beneath Ethan’s feet began to crack as blood seeped out of his boots, defying natural laws.

The blood pooled rapidly, then shot up in jagged spikes, piercing the man, his wife, and the two daughters simultaneously.

The horrifying scene unfolded in seconds, their screams cut short as they collapsed onto the floor, lifeless.

But it was far from over.

The same blood spikes twisted and writhed, encasing the bodies in a grotesque cocoon. Ethan stood back, arms crossed, as the transformation began.

Moments later, the family rose, their human features now twisted into pale, predatory visages.

Their eyes glowed faintly red as they knelt before Ethan, speaking in unison: "Diamond General Ethan, what are your orders?"

When a general vampire turns a common person into a vampire, that person automatically stores the memory in his mind as to who is a low-level vampire and who is a general vampire.

Ethan’s grin widened. "Convert as many as you can. Let the city fall to our kind."

The new vampires nodded and disappeared into the night, their speed unnaturally swift.

In another part of the city, Adam sat at his dining table, finishing the last bites of his dinner. His thoughts were elsewhere, swirling with plans and unease.

Across from him, Tayo, his loyal companion, observed him with quiet determination.

As Adam set his fork down, he looked up at her and asked, "Tayo, are you ready?"

Tayo gave a respectful nod. "Always, sir. What’s the mission?"

Adam stood, his expression hardening. "Vampires are spreading fast. We’re going to stop them."

Tayo climbed onto his shoulder, her small form glowing faintly as she aligned herself with him.

Adam donned his black outfit and mask, his appearance now exuding an intimidating aura. With a flick of his wrist, he teleported them both to the heart of the city.

---

The city was alive with a sinister energy. Ever since Adam took on Sona’s skill, his senses have become much sharper and he can now tell if there is a power holder near him from a distance of 200 meters.

"They’re everywhere," he muttered, his tone grim.

A faint sensation tugged at his awareness, leading him to a familiar neighborhood.

His eyes narrowed as he recognized the house of Mrs. Fugo, a widow who lived with her only son.

Adam’s connection to the family gave him pause, but the creeping sense of vampiric presence overruled his hesitation.

"Three presences," Tayo confirmed as they entered the house.

Inside, Adam spotted Mrs. Fugo, her son, and a third man he didn’t recognize.

His jaw tightened. Without a word, he extended his hand, activating his telekinesis.

The three figures froze mid-motion, their bodies held in place by an invisible force.

Tayo moved swiftly, her body shimmering as she turned semi-transparent.

She passed through the frozen figures, her mere touch burning their flesh.

The air filled with the acrid smell of seared skin as the vampires shrieked in agony.

Adam released his hold, letting them fall to the floor.

Their cries subsided as the transformation reversed, leaving them as trembling humans once more.

The man Adam didn’t recognize turned to him, tears streaming down his face. "Did you... did you save me? Thank you! Please, come to my home. My family—my entire family—has been turned. Save them too!"

"This is going to be a long mission" thinks Adam.

Adam placed a hand on the man’s shoulder. "Lead the way."

---

The hours stretched as Adam moved from house to house, reversing the transformations and saving families.

Each success bolstered his resolve, but the emotional toll was undeniable. By the time he returned to his own room, the clock struck 2 a.m.

Adam collapsed onto his bed, too exhausted to even remove his mask.

Tayo perched on the edge, her glow dimmed with fatigue. Adam looked at her and murmured, "You did well tonight, Tayo. Thank you. You deserve to rest."

Tayo is also very tired and she is barely able to keep herself in the air with the help of her four wings.

Tayo dipped her head respectfully. "Always at your service, sir." She climbed onto the bed beside him, curling up close as the room fell silent.

For now, the city was safe, but Adam knew this was only the beginning.
