Chapter 72: Unprecedented Situation

---

The school ground was an orchestra of confusion, its harmony shattered by the abrupt collapse of Shreya.

Adam stood amidst the chaos, his mind racing as Eric helped him lift Shreya’s trembling body.

Her condition was unnatural—her eyes glowed crimson, and a guttural, otherworldly sound escaped her lips, unsettling everyone nearby.

Teachers hurried to the scene, their faces painted with concern.

"Get her to the medics, quickly!" one of them instructed Adam and Eric, urging them toward the medical room.

Adam complied, his mind fixated on controlling the situation.

Using his telekinesis, he restrained Shreya’s sudden jerks and spasms, ensuring she wouldn’t harm herself or others.

Even so, her eerie vocalizations drew nervous glances from everyone around. A thick tension spread through the crowd, and no one dared to speak.

From the podium, the principal attempted to restore order. His voice boomed over the chaos:

"Due to an unforeseen emergency, we are canceling the Annual Sports Festival. I request all parents and spectators to leave the premises calmly."

The announcement rippled through the audience, who began exiting in hushed whispers.

Teachers moved to guide the crowd, ensuring no panic ensued. The principal descended from the podium and approached a nearby staff member.

"Inform the police," he instructed, his tone firm.

"Sir," the teacher hesitated, "she’s just a child. Involving the police could ruin her life."

The principal’s face darkened. "You’ve seen her condition, haven’t you? This is beyond our control.

Parents witnessed everything—they won’t trust us to keep their children safe unless we act decisively."

Reluctantly, the teacher nodded and placed the call.

In the medics’ room, Adam carefully laid Shreya on a bed away from the sunlight. Her skin seemed hypersensitive, reddened from brief exposure to the sun’s rays.

He removed the jacket covering her, revealing her pale skin and those burning red eyes.

Eric, standing beside Adam, stared at Shreya with a mix of fear and disbelief. Teachers and students who had followed them into the room recoiled at the sight.

"What’s wrong with her?" one of them whispered, their voice trembling.

Ignoring their murmurs, Adam wiped the saliva dripping from Shreya’s mouth. He noticed her hands clenched into tight fists, her nails digging into her palms.

Using his telekinesis again, he straightened her arms to prevent self-injury.

"Can someone bring me a rope or something sturdy to restrain her hands and feet?" Adam asked, his tone calm but resolute.

The room fell silent, stunned by his request.

"She’s your classmate!" a girl exclaimed, stepping forward. "How can you talk about tying her up like some animal?"

Adam’s gaze shifted to her, cold and unwavering. "You don’t understand. She’s not in control of herself."

"She’s lying still! How can you assume she’s dangerous?" the girl argued, her voice rising.

A teacher intervened, silencing her. "Let Adam handle this. He knows what he’s doing."

Though reluctant, the girl stepped back, biting her lip. Soon, a nurse arrived with a length of rope.

Adam secured Shreya’s hands and feet, his movements deliberate. The moment he deactivated his telekinesis,

Shreya’s body convulsed violently, her screams echoing through the room. She thrashed against her restraints, her strength unnatural.

The room erupted in gasps.

"What’s happening to her?" Eric whispered, his voice barely audible.

Adam exhaled deeply, addressing the growing crowd. "Have you noticed her behavior? Her characteristics match those of a creature, not a human."

His words hung in the air, met with wide-eyed disbelief.

"Adam," Eric began hesitantly, "you’re joking, right?"

"I thought so too," Adam admitted. "But when I saw her in the sunlight, her skin started burning. Everything about her matches those traits."

Leo and Cole, who had joined the scene, exchanged uneasy glances.

"This... can’t be real," Leo muttered.

"It doesn’t make sense," Cole added.

Adam raised his hands in frustration. "I know it sounds impossible, but that’s what I’ve observed."

Eric’s face paled as he recalled an earlier moment. "Actually, when I tried to grab her earlier, she broke free from my grip effortlessly. I thought it was just adrenaline, but now..."

Before anyone could respond, the principal entered the room, accompanied by several teachers.

His expression shifted to one of shock as he saw Shreya writhing on the bed, restrained and emitting those unnerving sounds.

Turning to Adam, the principal spoke with measured authority. "Do you know what’s happening to her?"

Adam shook his head. "No. But whatever it is, it could spread. We had to contain her."

The principal inspected Shreya’s restraints, noting the deep red marks on her wrists.

Her body trembled with a disturbing intensity. Despite her condition, Adam’s quick thinking had prevented a greater disaster.

"Well done, Adam," the principal said, his tone heavy with sincerity. "Your decisiveness may have saved lives."

Adam is not happy with the principal’s praise because he knows he could have prevented the disaster from happening and he regrets it very much.

Addressing the teachers, he continued, "Ensure all students leave the campus immediately. We’ll postpone the festival until further notice. Our priority is everyone’s safety."

Moments later, the sound of an approaching ambulance filled the air.

Adam glanced out the window and saw not just paramedics but police officers arriving as well. His heart sank.

It’s gone too far, he thought bitterly. This was something I could have handled, but now the authorities are involved.

Five officers entered the medical room, accompanied by the paramedics. Adam notices the on-call officer and the paramedics and moves away from Shreya just as she comes in.

The nurse briefed them on Shreya’s condition, and they agreed to keep her restrained.

But the situation grew even more complicated when Shreya’s parents arrived, their faces stricken with worry.

Seeing them, the principal and police officers stepped aside to explain the situation. Adam, feeling the weight of the escalating events, quietly left the room.

He leaned against the wall outside, exhaling heavily. The day’s chaos played over in his mind like a relentless storm.

For now, all he could do was wait and hope for answers.
