Chapter 66: Multiple Trouble
The parking lot was dimly lit, with faint shadows cast by the sparse lamps scattered across the area.
The air carried a sharp chill, laced with the faint metallic tang of impending confrontation.
Adam stood a few steps away, his posture rigid with determination.
His black outfit seemed to absorb the dim light, making his figure blend into the surrounding darkness.
Behind him hovered Sona, his psychic spirit, her four glowing wings casting an ethereal glow.
Her eyes, white and radiant, reflected her concentration as she suppressed the man’s feral instincts.
The man in question—David—stood frozen in place, his red eyes momentarily dulled, a faint smile tugging at his lips.
He had been recounting his tragic tale moments earlier, hoping Adam would fulfill the promise he’d made.
"I’ll keep my promise," Adam said, his voice firm yet calm, his gaze unwavering.
David’s faint smile widened, gratitude flickering across his face.
Sona, still suspended in the air, turned to Adam. Her voice was clear yet fatigued. "Do you want me to teleport us somewhere private?"
Adam nodded. "Can you handle it?"
She hesitated, her glowing eyes dimming slightly. "I can, but if I activate my teleportation, I won’t be able to suppress his instincts anymore."
Adam’s brow furrowed briefly, but his resolve remained steadfast. "It’s fine. I’ll manage."
He extended his hand subtly, activating his telekinesis.
An invisible force wrapped around David, holding him firmly in place. Sona, sensing the shift, released her mental grip.
Almost instantly, David’s red eyes flared with renewed intensity, and his veins darkened and pulsed visibly.
But before he could act, Sona raised her hand and cast the teleportation spell.
---
In the blink of an eye, they materialized in a deserted alley.
The narrow space was cloaked in shadow, the faint hum of distant city life muffled by the towering walls around them.
Sona appeared moments later, her glowing wings dimmed and her expression strained.
She hovered for a second before settling on Adam’s shoulder, her breaths shallow and rapid.
"Where are we?" Adam asked, his eyes scanning the alley.
Sona pointed toward the far end. "We’re far from the mall. This was the safest place I could find."
"Good," Adam replied, his gaze sharpening as he turned back to David. "Let’s get started."
Sona raised her hand, halting him. "My Lord, I’ll restrain him. Finish this quickly."
Adam nodded, his jaw tightening. As he deactivated his telekinesis, David lunged forward, his elongated nails gleaming like daggers.
But Sona’s telekinetic grip stopped him mid-air, his arms outstretched and inches from Adam’s chest.
"Hold him steady," Adam instructed, moving behind David with calculated precision.
David’s growls echoed through the alley as Adam placed his arm around the man’s neck in a chokehold.
His other hand clamped down with brutal efficiency.
David thrashed violently, his red eyes glaring and his sharp teeth snapping in desperation.
Slowly, the red in his eyes faded, replaced by a dull black as his movements weakened. Adam closed his eyes, unwilling to witness the agony etched on David’s face.
"It’s done," Sona said softly, her voice breaking the tense silence. "You can let go now."
Adam hesitated, his grip still firm. "Are you sure?"
Sona nodded, her glowing eyes narrowing as she examined David. "Yes, my Lord. He’s gone."
With a deep breath, Adam released his hold, stepping back.
David’s lifeless body collapsed onto the ground, his arms falling limply by his sides.
Sona deactivated her telekinesis, her glowing aura dissipating.
As they watched, David’s body began to decay rapidly. Flesh melted away, muscles dissolved, and bones disintegrated, leaving a dark, sticky residue on the ground.
The air was filled with a nauseating stench of rot and decay.
Adam turned away, his expression contorted in disgust. "This is worse than I expected," he muttered, his voice laced with revulsion.
Sona, now perched on his shoulder, looked at him with weary eyes. "My Lord, I know you’re tired, but you’ll need to teleport us back."
Adam sighed, glancing at her. "I know you’ve done a lot already. Just a little more, Sona."
She gave a small nod, her exhaustion evident. With a wave of her hand, they were back in the mall parking lot.
The place was eerily quiet, devoid of any movement. Adam adjusted Sona on his shoulder and began walking toward the exit.
"Where are we going now?" Sona asked, her voice soft but curious.
"Home," Adam replied simply. "I’m done for the day."
Adam boarded a train, the rhythmic clatter of wheels against tracks filling the silence.
By the time he reached home, the weariness of the day had settled over him like a heavy blanket.
As he stepped inside, his mother, Rachel, greeted him with a teasing smile.
"How was your date?" she asked, her tone playful.
Adam blinked, taken aback. "What? I wasn’t on a date, Mom. I was just with a friend."
Rachel crossed her arms, a mischievous glint in her eyes. "Dressed like that? Come on, Adam. You can tell me."
He sighed, brushing past her. "There’s nothing to tell, Mom. Goodnight."
Upstairs, Adam entered his room and gently placed Sona on the bed.
She had fallen asleep during the train ride, her small form curling up on the pillow. He watched her for a moment before sitting at his desk.
His thoughts were heavy as he reflected on the events of the night.
The Vampire Lord... David mentioned him. Whoever he is, he’s been building an army, converting random people into vampires. How far has this infection spread? And what is he planning?
The questions swirled in his mind, each more troubling than the last.
He rested his head in his hands, frustration gnawing at him. A knock at the door broke his reverie.
"Dinner’s ready," Rachel called from the hallway.
"Coming," Adam replied, his voice hollow.
---
After dinner, Adam returned to his room, but sleep eluded him.
The weight of the challenges ahead pressed down on him.
He exhaled deeply, trying to calm his restless mind. "I need to focus on the present. Tomorrow is the sports festival at school. I should rest."
He lay down, exhaustion finally overtaking him as he drifted into sleep.
---
In the alley where David had met his end, a figure appeared.
The young man had jet-black hair, sharp glasses perched on his nose, and an aura of authority.
He was one of the three Diamond Generals of the Vampire Lord’s army Ethan. His crimson eyes glowed faintly as he surveyed the area.
"So, someone killed my servant," he muttered, his tone cold. "This isn’t an easy feat."
He crouched, placing his hand on the decayed remains. "No public fighting. No exposure to sunlight. And yet, David was defeated. Whoever did this must be powerful."
He closed his eyes, his senses extending outward.
The faint traces of the fight lingered, but it was clear—this had been a swift and decisive battle. He stood, brushing off his hands.
"I need to report this to the Lord," he said before vanishing into the shadows.
---
The following morning, Adam awoke to the soft buzz of his alarm.
The faint light of dawn filtered through the curtains as he stretched, turning off the alarm to avoid waking Sona.
She remained sound asleep, curled up on the small bed he’d set up for her. After getting ready, he glanced at her one last time.
"Connection," he whispered, summoning a purple window. It displayed a list of abilities tied to his creations.
He selected Sona’s teleportation skill, feeling a warm sensation spread through his body as the knowledge imprinted itself into his mind.
