Chapter 67: Preparing for Sports Festival

Chapter 67: Preparing for Sports Festival

The horizon was painted in faint hues of orange and purple as the first rays of the sun struggled to pierce through the lingering darkness.

A serene quiet enveloped the neighborhood; only the occasional chirp of a bird punctuated the silence.

Adam stepped outside, his sharp black eyes scanning the empty streets.

He adjusted his coat slightly, feeling the chill of the morning air.

"Let’s go," he murmured to himself with determination, and then, with a sudden burst of energy, he bolted toward the park.

His legs moved with a swiftness that seemed almost supernatural, the ground beneath him barely registering his presence.

Within moments, he reached the park, a calm smile forming on his face.

Today, there was something different about Adam.

He could feel it in his muscles, in his bones—a surge of energy waiting to be unleashed.

He decided to push himself harder than usual.

"Why not increase the intensity today?" he thought. Dropping to the ground, he began his exercise routine.

First came push-ups, his arms rhythmically lifting and lowering his body as sweat began to bead on his forehead.

Thirty, forty, fifty—he didn’t stop. By the time he hit eighty push-ups, his arms burned, but it was a good burn, one that fueled his determination.

Finished with his exercises, Adam sat down in a secluded corner of the park, where few eyes could find him.

He tilted his head up to the sky, noticing how the sun had fully emerged, bathing the world in golden light.

Breathing deeply, he transitioned into meditation, closing his eyes to the tranquil sounds of nature around him.

When he finally stood up, refreshed and energized, he decided it was time to head home.

---

As he entered his house, the aroma of breakfast wafted through the air.

His mother was already waiting for him in the kitchen, a warm smile lighting up her face.

"Breakfast’s ready," she said cheerfully. "Go get ready for today."

Adam chuckled and replied, "Of course, Mom, I’m ready for today."

Her face lit up even more as she said, "Great! Your father and I took the day off today. We’ll be at your school in a bit."

Adam’s heart swelled with gratitude and pride. Before he could respond, his father, Ricky, entered the room, his expression a mixture of warmth and firmness.

"No matter what happens, we’re proud of you," Ricky said, his voice steady. "I know you’ve worked hard. But remember, no matter the result, we are incredibly proud of you."

Adam couldn’t help but smile. "Thanks, Dad," he said quietly.

The family sat together for breakfast, their conversation light and filled with subtle encouragement.

It wasn’t long before they were done, and Adam excused himself to his room to get ready.

---

Adam changed into his school uniform: a pink shirt paired with green trousers.

The combination was unconventional, yet it suited him. As he finished dressing, a small figure stirred in the corner of his room.

"Good morning, Adam," chirped Sona, fluttering her tiny wings as she landed on his shoulder.

Adam laughed, "Great! You woke up right on time. Let’s go, we have school."

Sona perched herself comfortably, and Adam packed his sports attire into his bag.

Just as he was about to leave, his phone buzzed in his pocket.

Pulling it out, he saw the name Ani flashing on the screen.

"I was waiting for this call," he thought, quickly answering.

"Good morning, Adam," Ani greeted from the other side.

"Good morning," Adam replied, his tone warm.

"Are you ready for today?" she asked, a hint of nervousness in her voice.

Adam paused, recalling a moment from last week when he had left Ani to go home alone after school.

He’d been chasing someone—a power holder—but it still felt wrong.

"I’m sorry, Ani," Adam said sincerely. "Last time, I left you alone."

Ani’s voice softened. "No, Adam. Don’t apologize. It really didn’t bother me."

Adam smiled. "Thanks. Anyway, I’m feeling really good today. I’m sure I’ll beat Robin in the race."

Ani laughed lightly, her voice filled with encouragement. "I trust you completely."

Adam nodded. "Thank you. By the way, where are you now?"

"I’m already on my way," Ani replied.

"Alright, then let’s meet at the station," Adam said, ending the call with a sense of purpose.

---

The station was bustling with morning commuters, but Adam’s eyes quickly found Ani.

She waved enthusiastically as he approached, her bag slung over one shoulder.

"Did you bring your sports gear?" she asked.

Adam grinned, holding up his bag. "Of course. What about you?"

Ani showed her bag with a shy smile. "It’s in here."

"You look great in your sports attire," Adam remarked casually.

Ani blushed, her cheeks tinged pink. "Thanks," she mumbled, avoiding his gaze.

The two walked together toward the school. As they neared the gates, the energy around them was palpable.

Students ran back and forth, carrying equipment and setting up for the sports festival.

---

Inside the school grounds, Adam noticed the sprawling setup.

Rows of seats surrounded the central field, resembling a mini-stadium.

The tracks for the races were meticulously marked, and the center field was designated for events like long jump, shot put, and sprints.

"Impressive," Adam muttered, scanning the area.

His attention was drawn to a familiar figure—Eric, already in his sports uniform, surrounded by his team.

Adam approached him, and Eric greeted him with a wide grin.

"Yo, you’re early today," adam joked.

"You know me," Eric replied. "The only thing that excites me is sports."

Eric laughed. "Well, you’d better hurry up and change. You know our first event is Race."

"I didn’t get the schedule," Adam admitted.

"No problem. Hurry up and change, I’ll fill you in."

Adam nodded and turned to head to the locker room.

---

On the way, he spotted Sakura with her council members.

Her eyes briefly met his, but she quickly looked away, feigning indifference.

Adam smirked to himself. "Good. Ignoring me means avoiding unnecessary trouble."

He entered the locker room, where a group of boys were already changing.

Among them, he saw Leo sitting quietly in the corner, a worried expression on his face.

"What’s wrong, Leo?" Adam asked, approaching him.

Leo looked up, relieved. "Where have you been? I’ve been waiting for you."

"What’s going on?" Adam asked, concerned.

Before Leo could respond, a mocking voice cut through the air.

"Well, well, look who finally decided to show up. The loser himself," Robin sneered, flanked by two of his cronies.

Leo stood, ready to retort, but Adam placed a reassuring hand on his shoulder. "Ignore them," he said calmly.

Robin’s friend chuckled. "I thought he wouldn’t show up. Guess he has more guts than I gave him credit for."

Leo snapped, "The race hasn’t even started yet. Wait until then."

Robin laughed mockingly as he walked away. Adam turned to Leo. "Relax. Don’t stress. I’ve got this."

Placing a comforting hand on Leo’s shoulder, he added, "Trust me, I’ll win."

With that, the Chapter ended, leaving Adam’s confidence lingering in the air like an unspoken promise.
