Chapter 224: The Enemy’s Watch

Chapter: The Enemy’s Watch

---

Adam stood at the center of his room, his expression grave as his mind wrestled with the reality of the situation.

His companions surrounded him, their faces reflecting the growing unease in the air. Breaking the tense silence, Adam finally spoke.

"I believe," he began, his voice calm but laced with certainty, "that our enemy is not just observing us but actively listening to everything we say right now."

His words sent a ripple of shock through the room. The team exchanged startled glances, their disbelief evident.

Tayo was the first to react. She stepped forward, her tone incredulous. "Lord Adam, what are you saying? Do you really think he’s listening to us at this moment?"

Adam nodded slowly, his gaze steady. "Yes, Tayo. It’s highly likely he’s watching and hearing everything we do."

The gravity of Adam’s assertion settled over the room like a heavy cloud. Zero, who had been standing silently near the corner, straightened up.

His mechanical limbs hummed softly as he stepped closer. "Lord Adam," he said, his voice measured, "if this is true, then you and your family are in grave danger."

Adam let out a weary sigh, nodding in agreement. "You’re right, Zero. But it’s not just my family. Each of you is in as much danger as they are."

Adam’s revelation only deepened the worry etched on his team’s faces. Sona, hovering in mid-air with her golden wings, flew over to him, her tone resolute.

"Lord Adam, we don’t care about ourselves. We only care about your safety and your family’s well-being."

A faint smile touched Adam’s lips as he gestured for Sona to perch on his shoulder.

Without hesitation, she settled on his right side, while Tayo followed and took her place on his left. Adam turned to face them, his voice soft yet firm.

"No, Sona," he said, his gaze sweeping over the room. "You’re all wrong. I care for you just as much as I care for my family. If anything were to happen to any of you, it would affect me just as deeply."

His words struck a chord, bringing a sense of warmth and unity to his companions.

They exchanged glances, their spirits lifted by his declaration. But Adam’s expression quickly turned serious once again.

"A while ago," Adam began, pulling out his phone, "I received a call from an unknown number." He paused, examining the screen with a frown. "But now, it’s gone. The number’s been completely erased from my phone."

He held the device up, showing the blank call log. "Look," he said, his voice tinged with frustration. "He’s so powerful, he can even manipulate my phone to erase any trace of his presence."

From the monitor behind Adam, Pratham’s holographic form materialized. His blue skin and white hair gleamed faintly in the dim light. "Lord Adam," Pratham said gravely,

"this means he possesses a highly unique power. One that allows him to interfere with nearly anything, including advanced systems."

Adam turned to Pratham, nodding in agreement. "You’re right," he said. After a moment of contemplation, Adam continued. "When he contacted me, he admitted to being the one targeting and killing the Power Holders."

"He’s not just killing them, he’s also stealing their powers."

This revelation sent a fresh wave of shock through the room. The team’s anxiety deepened as they processed the implications of Adam’s words.

Zero broke the silence, his tone cautious but firm. "Lord Adam, if that’s the case, then he might come after your power too."

Adam froze momentarily as Zero’s words sank in. His mind raced back to the cryptic statements made by the Cosmic Being—the taunts, the mockery, the repeated references to Adam’s creations. Slowly, pieces of the puzzle began falling into place.

A faint smile crossed Adam’s lips as he looked at Zero. "You’re smarter than I thought, Zero," he said, his tone warm yet somber.

Zero’s metallic face lit up with pride. He knelt down, bowing his head. "Lord Adam, your praise is the greatest reward I could ask for."

Adam’s smile faded as he turned serious once more. "Listen carefully, everyone. He gave me two days."

At this, Sona tilted her head in confusion. From her perch on Adam’s shoulder, she asked, "Two days? Two days for what, Lord Adam?"

Adam’s gaze darkened, and he clenched his fists as if preparing for a storm only he could see.

The room was steeped in tension as Adam’s revelation echoed through the air. "He gave me two days," Adam repeated, his voice firm but tinged with urgency.

"Two days to figure out who he will attack—whether it’s my friends, my family, or one of you. And in those two days, I need to stop him."

Adam’s words hung heavily, deepening the concern on everyone’s faces. The weight of the challenge they faced was almost suffocating.

From the monitor, Pratham’s holographic form flickered to life. "Lord Adam," Pratham began, his tone measured,

"if this enemy can watch us so easily, even if we figure out his plans, what’s to stop him from simply changing his target at the last minute? He knows everything about you, and he can see every move we make. If we assume this to be true..."

Adam nodded grimly, cutting him off. "You’re right, Pratham. That’s why we can’t trust a single word he says. But make no mistake—he will attack, whether it’s in two days or at another moment of his choosing. He knows about my powers, my allies... Everyone connected to me is at risk. I have to act."

Adam’s conviction was clear, and the team’s eyes were filled with both fear and hope as they looked to him for guidance.

The scene shifted to the rooftop of a distant skyscraper, bathed in the dim glow of the night sky.

Stars twinkled above, but the figure standing there seemed to hold the cosmos within him.

His body shimmered with a deep black hue, punctuated by the swirling galaxies and glowing stars that danced across his form.

His eyes burned like twin supernovas, casting an eerie red light, and a pulsating energy radiated from him, rippling through the night air.

This was no ordinary being—it was the Cosmic Being himself.

Behind him knelt Krish, his head bowed in deference, while beside him stood a woman with striking white hair and piercing green eyes.

Two more figures, both young women with jet-black hair, flanked them.

The Cosmic Being let out a low, rumbling laugh, the sound reverberating like the echoes of an exploding star.

"He’s smarter than I anticipated," he mused, his gaze fixed on the horizon. "And his companions... perhaps even smarter than he gives them credit for."

As his body began to shift, the radiant energy dissipated, and the stars on his form dimmed.

His celestial figure transformed into that of a young man, no older than nineteen.

His skin turned pale, his eyes darkened to a deep brown, and his hair took on a warm chestnut hue.

Krish, still kneeling, lifted his gaze slightly. "My Lord," he ventured cautiously, "are you truly not going to attack him for the next two days?"

The Cosmic Being, now appearing entirely human, smirked as he strode toward Krish. "I won’t attack him," he said, his voice soft yet filled with menace. "But when did I ever say that you couldn’t?"

His words brought a sinister smile to the faces of those gathered. One of the black-haired women let out a low chuckle, her voice dripping with anticipation.

Krish turned to her, addressing her directly. "Emily, you’re ready, aren’t you?"

The woman called Emily smiled, her green eyes gleaming with excitement. "Absolutely," she said, her voice steady and confident.

The Cosmic Being cast one last glance at his followers, his smirk deepening.

Without another word, he walked toward the building’s stairwell, disappearing into the shadows. Behind him, the group’s laughter grew quiet, their smiles betraying a cruel delight.

Back in Adam’s room, the atmosphere was just as heavy. Zero, who had been silently absorbing everything, finally spoke up.

"Lord Adam," he said, his voice tinged with resignation, "no matter what we do, it feels like defeat is inevitable. If the enemy can see everything we do..."

Adam raised his hand, cutting Zero off. "Enough," he said firmly. "We’ve faced impossible odds before, and we’ve always relied on the same thing: my system."

He rose from his chair, turning to face his companions with renewed determination. "This time," Adam continued, "we’ll create something even more powerful than anything we’ve ever made. And to do that, I’ll need all of you."

Confusion flickered across the faces of those gathered. Zero tilted his head slightly, while Tayo and Sona exchanged puzzled glances. "Lord Adam," Tayo began hesitantly, "what exactly are you saying?"

Adam’s gaze swept across the room, his expression unyielding. "We need a new ally," he explained. "A being capable of countering the Cosmic Being’s ability to watch and interfere with us. Even if this new creation can’t defeat him outright, it must at least neutralize his advantage."

Sona, still perched on Adam’s shoulder, furrowed her brow. "But Lord Adam," she said, "how can you possibly create such a being? Is that even possible?"

Adam’s lips curved into a faint smile, a glimmer of hope lighting his eyes. "I have an idea," he said.

And with those words, the Chapter ended, leaving the team—and the readers—on the precipice of a daring new plan.
