Chapter 189: The Confrontation
Chapter: The Confrontation
The cold air outside the hospital was thick with tension. Ranger Logan stood still, his black uniform blending with the dark surroundings.
His sword hung at his side, glinting faintly in the dim light. Inside the hospital, Sona and Tayo immediately sensed his presence.
A wave of unease passed through them, a chilling realization of the sheer power that had just arrived.
"This aura... it’s terrifying," Sona whispered, her voice tinged with concern as she turned to Tayo.
Tayo nodded solemnly. "We need to go outside. It’s better to face him where fewer people can get hurt."
Sona and Tayo know that if they involve the general public in this, it will not benefit anyone and many innocent people will die in this and at the same time, this thing is not good at all for their lord Adam.
Without hesitation, Sona agreed. Her wings fluttered slightly as she prepared herself. Before leaving, she flew up to the ceiling and addressed the hospital occupants.
Her voice echoed with authority. "I request everyone to stay inside the hospital and remain calm. Do not interfere."
The journalists and onlookers who had been live-streaming the events stared in shock.
Even as they complied, their cameras continued to record the unfolding drama, capturing every moment of the surreal scene.
Sona and Tayo exited the hospital through a large window. The cool night air greeted them as they floated down to the ground.
Logan, standing silently outside, had already noticed their approach. He smirked slightly, his respect for them growing.
"At least they care about protecting civilians," Logan thought to himself.
The two women landed a short distance from him, their faces calm but their bodies tense.
Logan’s presence was overwhelming, his calm demeanor masking a dangerous energy. He finally spoke, his deep voice cutting through the silence.
"So, are you the only two members of the Union?"
Sona’s eyes narrowed as she responded, "We know who you are, Logan. You’re a government-affiliated power holder, sent here to arrest us."
Logan raised an eyebrow, momentarily surprised. "How do they know this already?" he wondered. "Either they have some kind of skill that alerted them, or there’s a leak within the government."
But he quickly shrugged off the thought. Taking a deep breath, he smirked again and thought, It doesn’t matter. I came here for a fight, and that’s exactly what I’ll get.
Reaching for his sword, Logan unsheathed it in one fluid motion, the blade catching the faint moonlight.
He pointed it toward Sona and Tayo and said, "Knowing who I am won’t change the outcome. Let’s skip the formalities and get to the fun part."
The deadly enthusiasm in his voice made it clear to Sona and Tayo—Logan wasn’t here to negotiate. He wanted a battle, and he wasn’t planning to leave until he had his fill.
Logan’s gaze shifted between the two, a glint of amusement in his eyes. "Do you really think you can withstand my attacks? Looking at your size, it seems like one good blow and you’d be down."
The insult stung Sona, her wings twitching in irritation. She clenched her fists and opened her mouth to retort, but Tayo’s voice rang in her mind through their telepathic link.
"Sona, calm down," Tayo warned. "He’s trying to provoke you. If we lose our cool, we’ll make mistakes. Look at his sword—it’s clear he’s highly skilled in close combat. We need to keep a clear head and stick to our strategy."
Taking a deep breath, Sona nodded and replied telepathically, "Fine. But he’s testing my patience."
Her composure restored, Sona raised her voice and said mockingly, "I thought you might be talented when I first sensed your presence, Mister. But now that I see you, you’re nothing more than an old man with a sword and big mouth."
Logan’s smirk faltered slightly, irritation flashing across his face. But he quickly recovered, chuckling darkly. "Impressive. You’ve got guts. I’ll give you that," he said. "In fact, I’m so impressed that I’ll fight you with everything I’ve got. Consider it my way of showing respect."
His words left Sona and Tayo puzzled. "If this is his way of respecting us, I don’t want to know what his disrespect looks like," Tayo thought.
Logan suddenly sprang into action, his movements a blur. One moment he was standing still, and the next, he disappeared entirely.
"He’s fast!" Sona exclaimed telepathically as she quickly extended her hands, activating her teleportation skill. In an instant, she and Tayo vanished, reappearing several meters away.
A split second later, Logan’s blade slashed through the air where they had been standing. He landed gracefully, his sharp eyes scanning the area.
"So, you’re quick on your feet," he muttered.
Sona and Tayo repositioned themselves on opposite sides of Logan. Tayo raised her hands, her palms glowing with a brilliant golden light. Between her hands, a radiant energy sphere began to form, pulsating with immense power.
At the same time, Sona stretched her arms forward, her eyes locked on Logan as she activated her telekinesis skill. Invisible chains of energy shot out from her hands, binding Logan’s body and freezing him in place.
Inside the hospital, the remaining onlookers watched the battle unfold through the windows. Many had their phones out, recording every moment. To them, it seemed as if Logan was an unknown attacker targeting Sona and Tayo.
"They’re protecting us," someone whispered, watching in awe as Sona and Tayo worked together to subdue the powerful stranger.
Cheers began to erupt among the crowd, their support for Sona and Tayo growing with each passing second.
Back outside, Logan’s body tensed as he felt the energy chains constricting him. "Clever," he muttered under his breath, his tone betraying no fear.
Despite being immobilized, a confident smirk spread across his face. "Is this your best?" he asked mockingly. "You’ll need more than this to take me down."
Tayo and Sona exchanged a quick glance, silently agreeing to remain focused. The battle was far from over, and they knew Logan was not someone to be underestimated.
