Chapter 188: The Chase Begins

Chapter: The Chase Begins

The winding road stretched endlessly, flanked by towering trees that blurred into streaks of green as Ranger Logan sprinted with unimaginable speed.

Every car he passed seemed frozen in comparison, their drivers startled by the sudden gust of wind that followed his movement.

The air seemed to vibrate with the force of his strides, and his focus was razor-sharp.

Meanwhile, deep within the digital expanse of the Internet Dimension, Mikasa kept a watchful eye on Logan’s movements.

Her algorithms processed his speed, direction, and trajectory, calculating potential destinations with surgical precision.

The data poured in rapidly, her system narrowing down the possibilities until one alarming realization struck her.

"Lord Adam," Mikasa’s telepathic voice broke through Adam’s thoughts.

Adam, seated in a dimly lit room within the abandoned building where Atlas remained restrained, straightened immediately. "What is it, Mikasa?" he asked, his tone sharp and focused.

"My algorithms suggest that this middle-aged man is heading toward Tayo and Sona," Mikasa replied, her voice tinged with urgency.

Adam’s brows furrowed beneath his mask. A wave of unease swept through him as the implications sank in.

"Drop everything else," he commanded, rising from his seat. "Find out exactly who this man is and determine his skills. I want answers, and I want them fast."

"Yes, Lord Adam," Mikasa acknowledged. "Should I alert Tayo and Sona?"

Adam hesitated for a moment, his mind racing. He knew the danger Logan posed if he was indeed heading for Tayo and Sona. "Yes," he finally said. "Warn them immediately."

In the hospital where Tayo and Sona were busy healing patients and reversing the effects of vampirism, Sona suddenly stopped mid-flight.

The small, golden-winged figure hovered near the ceiling, her sharp senses tingling as Mikasa’s voice echoed telepathically in her mind.

"Sona," Mikasa began, "I have detected a power holder heading toward you. Based on my analysis, he is likely affiliated with the government."

Sona’s wings fluttered uneasily as she processed the information. "Does Lord Adam know about this?" she asked.

"Yes," Mikasa replied. "He instructed me to inform you both immediately."

Sona exhaled sharply, her mind already calculating the next steps. "Did Lord Adam order us to retreat?"

"No," Mikasa confirmed. "There has been no such instruction."

"Understood," Sona said firmly. She closed the telepathic link and descended toward Tayo, who was in the middle of healing another patient—a middle-aged man tied securely to a hospital bed.

Tayo’s hands glowed softly, her abilities working in tandem as she alternated between her Gentle Touch and Burning Touch skills. The man’s pale, vampiric skin began to regain its natural human tone, though his body trembled under the intense process.

"Tayo," Sona said telepathically, her tone grave.

Without breaking her concentration, Tayo replied, "What’s going on, Sona?"

"We have a situation," Sona explained. "A power holder is heading our way. Based on Mikasa’s report, he is likely government-affiliated and coming to subdue us."

Tayo’s hands didn’t falter, but her expression tightened. "Did Lord Adam instruct us to retreat?"

"No," Sona responded. "He hasn’t given us any orders to leave. That means we keep working until he says otherwise."

Tayo finished her task, her patient now fully reverted to his human form. She glanced up at Sona, her resolve clear. "Then we wait. If it comes to a fight, we’ll be ready."

Back in the Internet Dimension, Mikasa redirected her processing power entirely to uncovering Logan’s identity.

With her parallel processing systems fully engaged, she infiltrated government databases, searching for any trace of this middle-aged man.

Within moments, a file surfaced—a detailed account of Logan’s past.

"Ranger Logan," Mikasa murmured to herself as she scanned the document.

He had once been an army officer, known for his insubordination and refusal to follow orders.

The file detailed an incident where Logan had attempted to attack a superior officer, leading to his court-martial.

However, unexpectedly, Logan had been reinstated a few months ago and given a special rank: Ranger.

"Interesting," Mikasa muttered, piecing the information together.

She continued her search, hoping to find clues about his abilities.

The file offered little on that front but did contain one peculiar detail: Logan had always been obsessed with swordsmanship.

Mikasa relayed the information to Adam through their telepathic link. Seated in the dark room, Adam listened intently as Mikasa spoke.

"Lord Adam," she began, "I’ve found some information. This individual, now known as Ranger Logan, was previously court-martialed for attacking a superior officer. Despite this, he was reinstated and now holds a special rank. He is widely recognized as one of the government’s most dangerous assets."

Adam leaned forward, his fingers pressed against the cold steel of his mask. "What about his skills?"

"There’s no mention of specific powers in the government records," Mikasa admitted. "However, it’s noted that he is a master swordsman and carries a blade at all times. Even during his army service, he preferred his sword over firearms."

Adam sighed deeply, the weight of the situation pressing heavily on him. He knew Logan wouldn’t be sent unless the government was confident in his abilities.

"Mikasa," Adam said, his voice steady despite the tension, "do you think his skillset revolves around his swordsmanship?"

"It’s highly probable," Mikasa replied. "When I tracked him leaving the base, I noticed he carried a sword. It’s likely a key component of his abilities."

Adam nodded to himself, his mind already formulating a plan. "Good work, Mikasa. Return to monitoring the hospital and Logan’s movements. Keep Pratham updated as well. I want reports every second."

"As you command, Lord Adam," Mikasa said.

As Mikasa resumed her surveillance, Logan continued his relentless sprint. The terrain blurred around him as he closed the distance to his target.

Back at the hospital, Tayo and Sona worked tirelessly, aware of the looming danger but resolute in their mission.

Adam, meanwhile, remained deep in thought, the faint glow of the room’s only light casting shadows across his masked face.

The weight of the unfolding events was heavy, but he knew one thing for certain: Logan was a threat that couldn’t be underestimated.
