Chapter: The Unyielding Duel
The scene was set, an air of tension gripping the surroundings.
Sona’s telekinetic chains wound tightly around Logan, shimmering with a faint energy that distorted the light around them.
Her brow furrowed in concentration, the strain visible as she poured all her strength into immobilizing her formidable opponent.
Logan, however, remained calm. He examined the chains with mild amusement, his lips curling into a smirk that exuded unshaken confidence.
To his left, Tayo hovered in mid-air, her golden energy orb radiating a blinding brilliance. The orb pulsated like a miniature sun, emitting waves of heat that made the air shimmer.
She held it steady, her eyes locked on Logan as she prepared to launch the devastating attack.
But Logan was unperturbed. Letting out a slow, deliberate breath, he clenched his fists, his muscles tightening like coiled steel.
With an explosive motion, he shattered the telekinetic chains in a burst of raw energy.
The sheer force sent Sona flying backward, her wings snapping around her body instinctively to shield her from the impact.
She collided with the wall, the sound reverberating through the air like a thunderclap.
Meanwhile, Tayo released her golden orb with a fierce cry. The orb cut through the air, its hum growing louder as it closed in on Logan.
But Logan, as composed as ever, raised his sword with perfect timing. The blade gleamed as it connected with the orb, slicing it cleanly in half.
The resulting explosion sent shockwaves rippling through the battlefield.
Each half of the orb hurtled toward the ground, detonating on impact and leaving behind twin craters.
The ground quaked under the force, dust and debris scattering in all directions.
Tayo is very surprised to see that her energy ball was cut so easily by this man with his swords, she had not thought of this at all and now she is starting to worry a little.
Logan stood amidst the chaos, untouched and unyielding. His gaze shifted to Tayo, who had risen higher into the air.
Her form seemed to shimmer as she activated her "Matter State," becoming semi-transparent.
Before Logan could react, Sona, recovering from her fall, pressed her hands to the ground.
Her eyes burned with determination as she channeled her telekinetic energy.
The ground beneath Logan cracked and crumbled, the sudden shift causing him to lose his footing.
Seizing the opportunity, Tayo dove toward Logan at lightning speed. Her hand, glowing with an intense fiery energy, struck his abdomen as she shouted, "Burning Touch!"
Logan staggered backward, clutching his stomach as a phantom fire seemed to sear his skin.
Though it was not a physical flame, the sensation was excruciating, a burning heat that spread through his nerves like wildfire.
But Sona wasn’t finished. Summoning her telekinetic power once more, she lifted a cluster of rocks into the air.
The stones hovered ominously before she hurled them toward Logan with deadly precision.
Logan, despite the onslaught, moved with the agility of a predator. He dodged the incoming rocks with effortless grace, each sidestep and leap executed flawlessly.
His sword flashed as he deflected fragments that came too close, the sound of metal meeting stone ringing out like a symphony of war.
In the distance, Tayo prepared another golden orb, the energy in her hands crackling with intensity.
This time, Logan didn’t wait for her to act. He lunged forward, closing the distance between them in an instant.
Once again, Tayo released her attack, the golden orb streaking toward Logan like a comet.
And once again, Logan’s blade met it head-on, slicing it apart with almost contemptuous ease.
The fragments of the orb spiraled away, one crashing into the hospital’s outer wall and reducing it to rubble, while the other detonated near Sona. The resulting blast knocked her off her feet, sending her sprawling onto the ground.
Seeing that her attack has hit her own partner, Tayo looks at Sona in extreme worry.
"I’m sorry!" Tayo said telepathically, her voice tinged with guilt as she glanced at Sona. "I didn’t mean for the explosion to hit you."
Sona, pulling herself up, replied firmly, "This isn’t the time for apologies. Stay focused on him!"
Tayo nodded, her determination renewed. She turned back to Logan, who now stood in the center of the battlefield, his sword gleaming menacingly.
"You’ve done well to last this long," Logan said, his voice dripping with mockery. "But your tricks won’t save you forever."
Tayo’s eyes narrowed. "Is that so?" she shot back, her tone laced with defiance.
Logan moved again, faster than the eye could follow. With a powerful swing, he unleashed a crescent-shaped slash of energy from his blade. The white arc tore through the air, heading straight for Tayo.
Seeing the danger, Tayo activated her "Matter State" once more, her form becoming semi-transparent in an attempt to evade the attack.
But Sona, realizing the slash’s devastating power, acted quickly. She extended her hand and used her telekinesis to push Tayo out of the slash’s path.
The attack missed Tayo by mere inches, grazing her hair. Even in her intangible form, the slash was powerful enough to slice through her locks, sending strands of golden hair fluttering to the ground.
Tayo’s eyes widened in shock as she reverted to her normal state. "It cut me... even in Matter State?" she thought, a cold chill running down her spine.
Logan chuckled darkly. "Did you really think your special state would protect you?" he taunted. "You’ll need more than that to stop me."
---
Despite the setbacks, Sona and Tayo stood their ground. The battlefield was a scene of destruction—craters marred the earth, debris littered the area, and the faint glow of residual energy hung in the air.
Inside the hospital, onlookers watched with bated breath. Their phones captured every moment of the intense battle, live streams broadcasting the fight to the world.
To the spectators, Logan was an enigma—a terrifying force of nature. They didn’t know he was a government-affiliated power holder. To them, he was just another opponent trying to harm the heroic duo of Tayo and Sona.
The fight was far from over, and the outcome remained uncertain. But one thing was clear—neither side was willing to back down.
