Chapter 117: The Commission vs The Union - Part 3

The daylight loomed heavy with tension. Adam lay on a rooftop, his breathing labored as he tried to steady himself. Blood trickled steadily from a gash in his hand, the pain a dull throb against the rush of adrenaline. From his vantage point, he observed Gus and Hang below, their frustration evident as they scoured the area. Hang, especially, was consumed by rage, his fists clenched and eyes scanning every shadow. He was determined not to let Adam escape.

Clutching his injured hand, Adam pushed himself upright, inhaling deeply to steady his focus. With his uninjured hand, he extended his fingers, channeling his telekinetic abilities. The loose stones scattered across the ground around Gus and Hang began to tremble, then rose into the air as if caught in an invisible vortex.

"Telekinesis attack!" Adam declared, his voice echoing across the deserted surroundings.

Gus felt the shift in the air almost instantly and shouted a warning, "Hang! Watch out for the stones!"

Hang’s attention snapped upward as the swarm of stones hurtled toward them at bullet-like speed. Reacting quickly, he raised his hand, his voice booming with authority. "Absorb!"

The stones veered toward Gus’s hand, dissolving into energy upon impact. However, the barrage was relentless. Some stones bypassed Gus entirely, striking Hang with brutal force. One particularly sharp fragment embedded itself into Hang’s shoulder, drawing a cry of pain.

Grimacing, Hang clutched his injured shoulder. The sharp sting of the wound only fueled his rage. "You can hide all you want," he bellowed, his voice tinged with venom. "But you won’t escape me!"

---

On the rooftop, Adam knew he couldn’t afford to falter. Summoning his telekinesis again, he prepared for another assault. This time, however, Gus’s sensory abilities kicked in, pinpointing Adam’s location. His eyes widened as he turned to Hang.

"Hang!" Gus shouted. "He’s on the roof!"

Hang wasted no time. Raising his hand, he unleashed a barrage of laser attacks. Beams of energy shot out from his fingertips, streaking toward the rooftop. The first strike narrowly missed Adam, scorching the concrete mere meters from him.

The onslaught continued, each beam slamming into the rooftop with explosive force. Adam ducked and weaved, the heat from the lasers searing the air around him. He realized the danger was not just to himself but to the structural integrity of the building. If Hang kept this up, the entire place could collapse.

Clenching his jaw, Adam took a deep breath. His body was battered, his energy waning, but he couldn’t stay. Summoning the last reserves of his strength, he activated his teleportation skill. In an instant, he vanished, leaving behind only a faint shimmer in the air.

"He’s gone!" Gus exclaimed, his voice tinged with frustration as he sensed Adam’s disappearance.

Hang lowered his hand, his lasers ceasing. "Where is he now?" he demanded, turning to Gus.

Gus closed his eyes, focusing his sensory abilities once more. But before he could locate Adam, the unexpected happened.

---

Behind them, Adam materialized silently. His eyes fell on Atlas and Zora, both unconscious and vulnerable. Adam moved swiftly, lifting Atlas onto his shoulder. Despite the pain in his injured hand, he gritted his teeth and adjusted Atlas’s weight.

Gus’s senses flared. His head snapped around, his gaze locking onto Adam. "Hang! Behind us!" he shouted.

Hang followed Gus’s line of sight and froze momentarily, his eyes narrowing at the sight of Adam with Atlas. A sinking feeling churned in his gut. "He’s taking Atlas!" Gus exclaimed, panic lacing his voice.

Hang raised his hand, ready to fire another laser, but Gus grabbed his wrist. "Stop!" Gus shouted. "You’ll hit Atlas too! Is that what you want?"

Hang hesitated, his jaw tightening. The weight of Gus’s words stilled his attack. Before he could decide, Adam inhaled deeply and activated his teleportation again. In a flash, he and Atlas disappeared, leaving nothing but an empty space where they had stood.

Hang and Gus rushed toward the spot, but they were too late. Hang’s frustration boiled over. With a roar of anger, he slammed his fist into the ground, the impact cracking the pavement. Around them, a growing crowd of onlookers watched the scene unfold, their whispers and murmurs adding to Hang’s humiliation.

Ignoring the crowd, Hang turned to Gus. "Do you feel it?" he asked, his voice low and intense.

Gus nodded solemnly. "Yes. He’s Powerfull Powerholder."

Hang’s fists clenched tightly. "We’ve lost. He’s taken one of our members and humiliated us in front of everyone."

The murmurs of the crowd grew louder, and Gus glanced around nervously. "We need to leave," he urged.

Reluctantly, Hang nodded. Lifting Zora’s limp body, he followed Gus away from the scene, their defeat weighing heavily on them.

---

The scene shifted to an abandoned building, its walls crumbling with age and neglect. Inside, Adam and Atlas collapsed onto the dusty floor. Adam’s breaths came in ragged gasps, his body trembling from exertion. His injured hand hung limply at his side, blood dripping steadily onto the ground.

Pain radiated through him, but he pushed it aside, turning his attention to Atlas. The man remained unconscious, his face contorted in an expression of terror even in his unconscious state.

Adam winced as he struggled to lift Atlas again, his own body protesting with every movement. He managed to drag Atlas to a nearby wooden chair, tying him securely with scraps of fabric he found lying around.

The building was cloaked in darkness, the only sounds the distant howling wind and Adam’s labored breathing. The oppressive silence weighed on him as he stepped back to assess his work. Atlas was securely bound, his limbs immobilized against the chair.

Blood continued to seep from Adam’s hand, staining the makeshift bandage he’d wrapped around it. He glanced down at the wound, realizing with a sinking feeling that if he didn’t treat it soon, infection was inevitable. But he couldn’t focus on that now.

As Adam sank to the floor, his mind racing with possibilities, a voice echoed in his head. It was clear, familiar, and urgent.

"Lord Adam, I need your help."

Adam’s eyes widened in surprise. The voice belonged to Tayo. His exhaustion momentarily forgotten, Adam straightened, his mind racing. What could Tayo possibly want now?

The question lingered as the Chapter came to a close.
