Chapter 109: The Confrontation
---
The tension in the air was suffocating as Ani and her elder sister stood frozen, their wide eyes fixed on the man before them—Zora.
His presence was an anomaly, exuding a chilling calmness that was amplified by his unusual appearance.
White hair framed his youthful face, and his piercing blue eyes glinted with an unreadable expression.
He moved with an eerie grace, every step deliberate as if he owned the very ground he walked on.
Encasing the three of them was an invisible barrier, a gravitational force field that Zora had conjured effortlessly, cutting them off from the gathering crowd.
Beyond the barrier, murmurs of confusion and fear rippled through the onlookers.
Many recognized Zora—not as a random troublemaker, but as a member of The-Commission’s team, someone with authority and power.
People were not able to understand why a member of the The- Commission member would come to a public place and harass an ordinary girl and that too by exercising such responsible powers.
Ani’s elder sister, her protective instincts kicking in, stepped forward, shielding Ani with her body.
The resolve in her stance was clear; she wasn’t going to let anyone harm her sister.
"What do you think you’re doing?" she demanded, her voice firm but laced with a hint of uncertainty.
Zora tilted his head slightly, his expression one of mild amusement.
He slipped his hands into his pockets, speaking in a calm, almost mocking tone.
"I have some business with Miss Ani here. It’s something she owes me, and I’ve come to give it to her."
The casual menace in his words sent shivers down Ani’s spine. She clutched her sister’s arm from behind, her legs trembling.
Her sister, however, wasn’t so easily intimidated. "Take one more step, and I’ll call the police," she warned, her voice sharp and unyielding.
If someone had given this warning to Zora earlier, he might have backed off, but now that they has made a secret deal with the government, these threats do not matter to him.
Zora’s lips curled into a faint smile, one that didn’t quite reach his eyes. "How amusing," he replied softly. "Why don’t you try?"
Her sister hesitated, unnerved by Zora’s lack of concern. Does he really have no fear of the authorities? she wondered.
Glancing back, she saw Ani pale and trembling, her wide eyes locked onto Zora as though he were a specter from her nightmares.
Realization dawned on her sister—Ani’s reluctance to leave her room these past days, her withdrawn behavior—it all made sense now. It had to be Zora.
She had seen him on the news and had been haunted by his image ever since.
Determined to snap Ani out of her fear, she turned to her, her voice softening but remaining firm. "Ani, you need to face this. Hiding won’t change anything."
Ani comes out of her fear after listening to her sister.
Ani hesitated, her gaze flickering between her sister and Zora. Summoning all her courage, she stepped forward, though her trembling hands betrayed her fear.
Zora’s gaze never left her. "There’s no need to be scared," he said, his tone almost gentle but carrying an underlying threat. "I haven’t done anything to harm you....Yet."
The crowd outside the barrier grew restless, their curiosity mounting. Whispers filled the air as they speculated about the exchange between Ani and Zora.
"Ani, call the police now!" her sister yelled, her voice breaking the tension. "He’s powerful, but he’s not above the law!"
Ani fumbled for her phone, her hands shaking so badly that it nearly slipped from her grasp. As she unlocked it, Zora’s voice cut through the air like a blade.
"It’s pointless, Ani. No matter what you do, I’ll have my revenge for the humiliation you caused me."
Hearing this, Ani’s elder sister gets very confused and thinks, "Is this the same boy who had stalked Ani in the past and made it difficult for Ani to go out of the house?"
His words struck her like a physical blow. Her hand froze mid-dial, her eyes widening as fear gripped her heart.
Her sister, noticing her hesitation, turned back to see Ani rooted to the spot, her face drained of color. "Ani!" she called, desperation creeping into her voice.
Her sister’s anger boiled over. Turning back to Zora, she charged at him, her hand raised to slap him. "Go to hell!" she shouted.
But before her hand could make contact, Zora uttered a single word, "Kneel."
A sudden, overwhelming force crashed down on her, slamming her to the ground. She struggled to lift herself, her limbs trembling under the crushing weight. "Ani, call the police!" she gasped, her voice strained.
Ani watched in horror, her heart pounding as her sister writhed on the ground.
She gripped her phone tighter, but her courage wavered.
Just as she was about to press the call button, Zora stepped forward and placed his foot on her sister’s back, pinning her down.
Seeing this, Ani gets very scared, her mind is not able to think anything properly, she starts trembling after seeing her sister in such a condition, she was not able to see any solution.
The phone slipped from Ani’s hands and clattered to the ground. Tears streamed down her face as she collapsed, overwhelmed by fear and helplessness.
The people present there get very surprised to see this, and their anger also increases as they are unable to believe what Zora is doing.
Zora crouched slightly, a wicked smile playing on his lips as he looked at Ani. "What’s wrong, Ani? Cat got your tongue? Or are you too scared to face the consequences of what you did to me?"
His words brought fresh tears to her eyes. She could only shake her head, her voice choked by sobs.
The crowd beyond the barrier stirred angrily, their outrage evident as they watched Zora torment Ani and her sister. Some began shouting, demanding he stop.
Unbothered by their reactions, Zora straightened, his cold smile never wavering. He basked in Ani’s despair, the tears streaking her face a testament to his triumph.
This was far from over.
