I Am Extraordinary Alone
Chapter 74 - 73: Crossing Linjiang

Chapter 74: Chapter 73: Crossing Linjiang

By the time Wei Tianyang and his group returned to Kongse, it was nearly evening.

This battle had been a fruitful one for Wei Tianyang, and Moby Dick was pleased as well. He had already contacted his own people and was planning to sneak away with the Heavenly Falling Objects under the cover of night.

Of course, he didn’t know that the moth inside the iron ball was already gone.

After Wei Tianyang and the others returned to the hotel, they took hot showers, ate dinner, and then retreated to their respective rooms to rest, giving him time to thoroughly study the two smartphones he held in his hands.

He held one in each hand, first inspecting their exteriors and noting that both phones appeared to come from the same brand but different models, as the cool glass back of each bore a silver grape logo.

The phones were both squarely designed with matte metal frames. The one belonging to the woman in the bodysuit, a deep purple phone, had three camera lenses, while the black phone provided by Red Pharmaceutical featured five.

He first carefully examined the data stored in the woman’s phone but, unfortunately, aside from the few call records he had already seen, there wasn’t much else, leading him to suspect that she might have purchased it upon her arrival in Chicken Snake Country, evidenced by the lack of a case or screen protector.

The phone provided by Red Pharmaceutical, however, had a sticky note widget set up on the home screen with just one sentence: "Click to see."

Clicking into the sticky note app, he was greeted by a Chicken Snake message that was not very long:

"We deeply sympathize with your past experiences and want you to know that we have a common enemy: Tiantai Pharmaceutical. Your potential displayed over the past few weeks has convinced us that you are a more suitable partner than Yaha and deserve better treatment. We can help you. Regardless of whether you have made a decision, please contact us during your private time after obtaining the phone, making sure no one is eavesdropping or watching, and reach out to the only contact listed in the phone book—you won’t miss it."

Wei Tianyang laughed as he looked at the number.

He said, "I’m not Yaha... I won’t trust pharmaceutical companies again."

Just then, the figure of Du Yan appeared by the window, and guerrillas emerged around the room, Li Bin the only one absent.

"Where’s Li Bin?" he asked.

"Smoking on the rooftop," Du Yan responded with a smile.

He showed his new phone to Du Yan.

"This is an opportunity we could exploit," Du Yan said.

"I might get something out of them," Wei Tianyang said, preparing to dial the number.

Du Yan made a stopping gesture and said, "Don’t think of those people as fools."

She walked over, sat at the edge of the bed, and continued, "Don’t rush to call them. I think you should discuss this matter with that perverse white-haired businessman. He’s much better than you in handling interpersonal relationships," Du Yan said.

Wei Tianyang nodded; there was no hurry with this matter. Moreover, he felt a premonition that if he didn’t handle this correctly, it might prompt a fallout with the "black houses," precisely what Red Pharmaceutical wanted.

"Have you been following the news lately?" Du Yan asked.

"No, why?" Wei Tianyang was puzzled.

There were no public electronic devices in the black houses, no radios, no televisions, and only some members had smartphones. Wei Tianyang wondered whether it was Yaha not allowing them, or perhaps... they simply couldn’t afford it.

Upon reflection, Wei Tianyang guessed it was probably due to lack of funds; after all, while the black houses provided for their consumables, they never paid salaries. The members had no money, only Starbucks—frequently going out to purchase supplies—had some cash on hand.

"Li Fei is facing some difficulties at Six-faced God Mountain, and we hope you can lead us there to support her," Du Yan said straightforwardly.

So that was it... Wei Tianyang had seen the related news on TV at the Starbucks café.

"You can go on your own," Wei Tianyang said.

"It’s not like that. Without you, we can’t interfere in this world," Du Yan replied.

Wei Tianyang frowned deeply.

"You still haven’t realized what makes you special. With all the comings and goings in this hotel, and other superpower special forces that have been here before, none have discovered us. Only you—you can see us, communicate with us. Your intentions and your words give us the power to intervene in the world," Du Yan explained.

Wei Tianyang found himself at a loss for words; he lowered his head and recalled everything that had happened, and indeed, it was true... whether it was the Medicine People or the guerrillas, they had acted only under the influence of his subconscious and his words...

"Not just to help us, Wei Tianyang," Du Yan added, "you also have your own compelling reasons to go there."

"What does that place have to do with me? Go on, tell me," Wei Tianyang said.

"The third detention station controlled by Tiantai Pharmaceutical is located on the outskirts of Linjiang City, and, our brothers who died there saw that woman... the one who killed you... she is also there," Du Yan explained.

Wei Tianyang’s pupils constricted, and his right fist clenched.

Ruan Yu in Linjiang City?!

"And there’s another Yin person, a man named Hans. Is he there too?!" Wei Tianyang asked urgently.

"We didn’t see a man, only that woman. She met with Tun Yun, commander of the Linjiang City defense forces, apparently to discuss transport matters," Du Yan said.

Wei Tianyang rose to his feet, pacing back and forth on the floor.

Perhaps Tiantai Pharmaceutical had been hit so hard that they now lacked even the capability to transport Heavenly Falling Objects, and had to seek help from the local military.

"You guys should be well aware of the situation on Six-faced God Mountain right now, right?" Wei Tianyang asked.

"The garrison has over four thousand men. They’ve turned the mountain into a fortress. There are four fighter jets taking turns bombing Li Fei’s positions, and our people also spotted three tanks and four helicopters on the mountain. This must be all the conservative faction has," Du Yan replied.

"After all, crossing the top of the mountain gives a clear view over Linjiang City. Without that mountain, they would have no choice but to surrender," Li Bin suddenly entered through the door. "What do you think? Ready to fight a real battle?"

"Fight against over four thousand people head-on? Do you really think I’m capable of that?" Wei Tianyang said.

"You take down a thousand, we’ll handle the rest," Du Yan said.

In the room, all the guerrilla fighters looked at Wei Tianyang with eager eyes.

"Without you, we can only watch our homeland be torn apart, watch those two puppet governments take lives heedlessly. But now, with you... we can cross that river."

"Wei Tianyang, we have grievances to avenge too. Those who burned us alive, and their descendants, are now riding roughshod over the people. We want to make them pay!" Li Bin said through gritted teeth.

From Kongse to Linjiang City was a journey of considerable distance. He pulled out his phone and used the map to check. There was a direct distance of over 40 kilometers between the two places, with Wuliang City lying in between.

However, Wei Tianyang could enter objective reality to travel, emerging at the destination as if he had teleported.

But he didn’t immediately agree to Li Bin and the others.

They left, waiting for his response.

Li Fei wouldn’t be easily defeated; these past days had been stormy, and he also needed to adjust to his newly acquired ability to control rainwater.

At night, Wei Tianyang stood by the window; fine drizzle fell from the sky, and he carefully controlled a small cluster of rainwater, shaping it into various forms in mid-air.

To make the rainwater lethal, he would need to accumulate a sufficient volume. After all, this ability killed by the weight of the water – simply shaping it into blades wasn’t effective without the necessary density and pressure.

Yet, he found that the ability to gather water into a high-pressure water blade was unachievable. The range of the power wasn’t small, but to make the rain lethal, he still had to wait for stormy weather. With the current light drizzle, collecting enough water would simply take too long.

No wonder that female special forces squad picked a stormy day to leave, even bringing along a sniper rifle just in case.

Still, after just half an hour, Wei Tianyang was able to deftly control the rainwater into various shapes. If he really wanted to help out in Linjiang City, he would have to leave in the next few days.

Just as he was contemplating, there was a gentle knock on the door. Wei Tianyang went to open it, and to his surprise, standing at the door was Kacha.

"Ishmael, let’s go – I’ll take you out for kebabs," Kacha said with a smile.
