I Am Extraordinary Alone -
Chapter 347 - 345 Negotiation
Chapter 347: Chapter 345 Negotiation
The siege ring was about 400 meters from the farmhouse, a safe distance where an untrained marksman with a bolt-action rifle couldn’t hit a moving target.
But those 400 meters made Scott walk with some difficulty. He had a weird feeling, that the farmhouse in his eyes seemed to have turned into a human head. As they got closer, just as he had imagined, the barbed wire gate snapped open automatically, followed by the drawbridge-style main gate slowly lowering down.
It was like a giant mouth slowly opening, and Scott and his team were about to deliver themselves into it.
He guessed that these gates were electrically controlled, after all, in this era, it was easy to design such commands with the aid of a smart home system, and wiring to connect electronic gates was not a difficult task.
Scott walked under the drawbridge gate and could see that the building serving as the gate was originally a barn. But looking through the gate into the inside, he saw more than a dozen cultists holding shotguns, warily watching him.
Following Lilith’s instructions, Scott looked back at Ellie before continuing towards the gate, one after the other. As soon as they stepped through, the drawbridge began to raise.
Upon entering the farmhouse, the environment suddenly turned dark. He looked up and saw people standing on both sides of the three-story barn. Counting carefully, there were more than twenty, all looking down in silence, each with a hunting shotgun or a shotgun in hand.
Ellie, right behind him, couldn’t help but place her hand on her holster, but Scott caught her wrist without changing his expression and continued walking towards the deepest part of the building.
The barn and the stable were connected together, forming a structure akin to an inner city from the Middle Ages. He saw that the stable had been renovated into two stories, serving both as an internal defense area with several hammocks, and mats laid out, where those responsible for the guard would come to rest after changing shifts from the barn in front.
At this moment, a tall black man holding a PKM light machine gun walked out of a stall.
"Damn, they even have light machine guns?" Scott exclaimed in surprise.
Mounted on the third floor of the barn, just the barrel peeking out, it could shred the surrounding siege ring outside.
"If you assist Holy Mother in finding her offspring, she will be able to provide help in an equivalent manner," the black man said.
"She wanted me to talk to her in person, that’s what she told me," Scott said.
"Of course, we all know that," the black man replied.
"What about your previous leader? Where’s Jinsen?" Scott asked.
"He was a fraud," the black man said.
Ellie nearly laughed out loud.
The black man stepped aside, and ahead, a white door slowly opened. A woman in a white dress, with a shotgun slung over her back, stood at the door looking at them.
"Holy Mother is upstairs. You need to remember, she has no ill intent. She only wishes to find her own offspring," the woman said.
Scott and Ellie walked through the door, into what was truly the farmhouse owner’s residence.
After this short journey, Scott had already figured out the entire layout of this fortress.
The entire fortress consisted of the farmhouse owner’s villa, stables, and barn, forcibly connected by metal sheets, forming a linear layout.
The villa itself was three stories, and on this foundation, the rooftops of the stables and barn had been modified and linked together, creating a large three-story structure.
They entered the villa, which had the layout of a normal residence, with a kitchen, bathroom, living room, entrance hall, and so on. After going up to the second floor, they found that one wall had been knocked through, connecting with the top floor of the stables, forming a large double story flat, where most of the cultists lived.
There were bunk beds and floor mats everywhere, resembling a military barracks, extending all the way to the far end of the barn. The interior was laced with electrical and network cables, with small light bulbs emitting faint light, casting the cramped space in an uneasy glow.
The cultists blocked the way, leaving only a passage up the stairs, so Scott and Ellie could only head up to the third floor.
Just as they stepped up to the final landing, they found the environment suddenly brightened.
A small tin window was propped open at one corner with a wire, letting sunlight filter in, spilling onto a wooden table.
A woman in a blue tank dress was sitting at the table, thumbing through an old book with a red cover, which Scott recognized at a glance as the holy text published ten years ago.
His attention was quickly drawn to the woman because she was too beautiful. Her entire presence was filled with sensuality, tempting every cell in his body.
The woman had long black hair that trailed to the floor, a pair of bright, large eyes like pearls, a straight nose, fair skin, and full lips that were mesmerizing to look at.
Her skin exposed beyond the long dress was as smooth as a newborn baby’s, yet her face bore just the right amount of age marks, making her appear enchanting, mature, and sexy.
"Lilith?" Scott felt his body somewhat out of control, his voice trembling.
"Hello, Director Scott," Lilith spoke.
Scott had heard this voice in his mind, but when it vibrated through the vocal cords of the woman before him to reach his eardrums, it sounded even more real and seductive.
"You know my name?" Scott asked.
"It’s not very polite to have a guest stand and talk, is it?" Lilith closed the book, tilted her head to look at Scott, and revealed an almost imperceptible smile.
"Let’s get straight to the point..." Scott hadn’t finished when Lilith interrupted him.
"Coffee or tea?" Lilith asked.
"Are we really going to sit down for a drink?" Ellie asked.
"Since we’re here, let’s play it by ear," Scott said.
He looked at Lilith and said, "Coffee, no sugar."
Lilith smiled, stood up, and walked past them, a captivating fragrance emanating from her body, stirring one’s desire.
Lilith went to the other end of the room, took down a metal can from the shelf, pulled out the stopper, and poured coffee beans into the hand grinder.
"What a miraculous beverage, isn’t it?" Lilith said while bending down to retrieve cups, looking exactly like a kind mother, a sexy and fiery housewife.
"What’s your story?" Scott couldn’t help asking.
"Me? I come from the heavens." Lilith placed the small iron kettle on the induction cooker, then, poured in cold water.
"From the heavens?" Scott said.
"Yes, my offspring and I descended from the sky; they arrived before me." Lilith explained.
She started turning the handle, grinding the beans, her bright black eyes looking at Scott as she continued, "I can’t find them anymore."
"What is she talking about?" Ellie was a bit perplexed.
"Whatever she says, don’t believe it," Scott said.
"Take a seat. There are a few chairs here, and we can sit down and talk at length. I am quite certain you have the capability to help me find my children, and I am also sure you’ve already encountered some of them," Lilith said.
Scott looked around, pulled two stools from under the table, and sat down with Ellie.
"Those are government assets, by all rights, you should be too," Scott said.
"That’s why I want to have a talk with your government official; I know he is relying on the power of one of my offspring, and I hope he will let me see Her," Lilith said.
"You’re talking about... Wei Tianyang?" Scott asked.
As the director of the Black Medicine Administration, and at this point in time, he had also received the decrypted file about Wei Tianyang, learning some information.
"Not Wei Tianyang. He is but a thief who has stolen Her body; the one I want to meet is the true Her," Lilith said, her eyes becoming mournful.
At that moment, the kettle whistled, Lilith looked back, laughed, and said, "It’s boiling, quite interesting."
Ellie always felt something odd about Lilith; her behavior was too standardized, to the point of not seeming human. Lilith was like the stereotype of a sexy goddess, seemingly crafted out of every man’s dream.
"Which containment site did you escape from? If you haven’t harmed anyone, I can assure you, I’ll provide medical assistance to help you return to a normal life," Scott said.
Lilith poured the ground coffee into the filter paper, then, placed the coffee pot on the table and picked up the kettle.
She looked at Scott, laughed, and said, "A normal person? Do you think I am like you?"
