I Am Extraordinary Alone -
Chapter 346 - 344 Contact
Chapter 346: Chapter 344 Contact
A few days ago.
Twelve black government sedans were driving on the interstate highways of Deke State.
The Director of the Black Medicine Administration, Scott, sat in the passenger seat, flipping through a thick file.
This file recorded nearly all of the emerging sects within Deke State’s territory, some with just a few people, some with nearly a hundred, with both members and the sect leader himself documented.
Of course, these self-proclaimed sects didn’t know they were already under government surveillance, but in fact, as long as they didn’t threaten state security or affect the interests of mainstream sects, the government turned a blind eye, since in the Sethiyan Federation, starting one’s own sect is legal.
But the sect known as the "Supreme True God Sect" was different.
The original leader of this sect, Jinsen, was a notorious playboy who had used many aliases and slept with many girls, but because he never caused any fatalities, the authorities never took action against him.
Essentially, he was also one of the swindlers in recent years who had been falsely using the name Wei Tianyang to scam people. In principle, any religion associated with Wei Tianyang should have been eradicated, but funds allocated from above had been consumed considerably by various departments, so there had been a delay in assembling effective police forces, allowing people like Jinsen to still jump around on the vast lands of the Sethiyan Federation.
However, in the last few days, Jinsen disappeared, and then many, many people claimed to have heard the ’Mother’ of the Supreme True God Sect, who left revelations in their minds.
At first listen, it sounded like the kind of thing the Superpower Special Department would do, but obviously, Deke State did not have such forces stationed, yet thousands have reported it, and considering the sensitive period, the higher-ups deduced there was likely a half-finished Superpower user who was recklessly using his abilities, likely with an endless supply of the neutralizing agent.
As the Director of the Black Medicine Administration, Scott had to take this matter very seriously and took charge personally.
Black Medicine was expensive, but it wasn’t the core concern; the neutralizing agent used to control those freaks was the lifeline of the state. Scott personally led his law enforcement officers to the door, determined to figure out what was going on with this batch of goods.
Jinsen’s sect employed high-pressure control methods, proclaiming that the world would face a disaster in the future, and everyone was confined inside their doomsday survival stronghold, converted from a farm, with around fifty or sixty people, a small number of weapons, not posing much of a threat.
But Scott still wore a bulletproof vest, and before the operation, he even took the rare step of disassembling, oiling, and reassembling his rarely used Renetti pistol, also equipped with two extended 22-round magazines.
The rest of the law enforcement officers’ equipment consisted of standard GKS submachine guns and tear gas. The abilities of a half-finished Superpower user were generally not too strong, and bullets were sufficient to destroy them, but if there was indeed a risk, Scott had also contacted the army, which could arrive in support within half an hour in a triangular formation.
The convoy drove 200 kilometers out on the desolate interstate highway, then veered off down a slope and 20 more kilometers into the desert, finally seeing the farmstead remodeled into a large fortress from afar.
"Quite a sight," said Ellie, who was driving.
"Nothing but a bunch of crazies," Scott shook his head.
"There are a thousand people claiming they’ve heard a woman’s whisper; she calls herself... Lilith," Ellie said.
"Just Medicine People messing around with superpowers to play god, I suspect it’s a breach from some pharmaceutical company." Scott said.
"It’s strange that this Lilith wants to meet with Steijie. Why?" Ellie asked.
"Maybe to bargain, considering if she’s a Medicine Person, she’d definitely plan an escape route for herself, but she’s too dumb, going so far as to demand a meeting with the chief officer right away," Scott sneered.
He picked up the walkie-talkie, instructing the convoy to fan out and encircle the farmstead.
The black sedans spaced out every 120 meters, forming a circular encirclement. The team members exited the vehicles, opened the reinforced car doors, rested their submachine guns on the A-pillars, chewed gum, and waited for orders.
The vehicles slowly stopped, the tires crunching over gravel with a crackling sound, and Scott and Ellie got out of the car, but did not draw their pistols.
He squinted his eyes, looking towards the blinding direction of the sun, the three-story farm building stood there, reinforced with iron sheets on the outside, completely encompassing the entire structure securely, with a ring of barbed wire surrounding it as well.
"Damn, this place looks more like a prison," Scott said with his hands on his hips.
At that moment, the leader of the law enforcement team approached, with a submachine gun hanging at his side, holding a tablet computer. With the summer temperature rising, even before doing anything, he was already sweating profusely.
"No windows, no doors, I bet their entrance is like a medieval castle structure, which has to be lowered from the inside," the captain said.
"Getting out must be a real hassle for them. Do you know anything about the cults in this area, Captain?" Scott asked.
"Not much, but it’s not common for places like Jinsen’s stronghold to be wrapped up so tightly," the captain replied.
"If they have automatic weapons, that could spell trouble," Scott said.
"We have strict control over the sale of ammunition, and besides, the acting governor’s firearms ban has been enacted, so they’ve got nowhere to buy weapons now," the captain said.
"Wait a minute, listen!" Scott hurriedly signaled everyone to be quiet, then frowned and looked toward the farmstead.
At the top of the farmhouse, a small gap opened in an area resembling a church spire.
A woman was standing there, as if staring at Scott from tens of meters away.
At the same time, in his mind, he heard a low, hoarse female voice.
"She wants to meet me," Scott said.
"Who?" the captain asked.
"Lilith," Scott said.
"Are you going to go?" the captain disengaged the safety on his submachine gun.
"What else? No waiting for the negotiation expert," Scott said.
"I’ll send a few men with you," the captain said.
"Don’t startle the snake, she just wants to talk terms," Scott said.
"Can you communicate with her remotely?" the captain asked again.
"No, I can only hear her voice on one side, and I haven’t taken ’Black Medicine,’" Scott shook his head.
But going into the farmhouse alone was indeed too dangerous. He looked around and said to Ellie, "You come with me."
Ellie was startled and said, "Me?"
"You seem less aggressive, take care of your gun, I don’t want to use it inside," Scott said.
He then looked at the captain and said, "Tell your people, if I haven’t come out in half an hour, throw smoke grenades inside."
The captain bowed his head to press the button on the walkie-talkie to give orders, while Scott pulled out his pistol from the holster to check, cocked it, inspected the magazine, and then reholstered it.
Ellie was nervous; this was her first time dealing with a Superpower user.
"Don’t worry, I won’t put you in danger—even if her demands are excessive, I won’t argue with her inside," Scott said.
Ellie nodded and said, "Don’t underestimate me, Chief."
"Well said," Scott smiled.
With that, the two crossed the cordon and walked toward the farmstead, which resembled a prison.
