Chapter 310: Chapter 308: New Organization
Western Alliance.
This is a place that’s hard to find on a map.
Named Saint Dingge.
Within a green valley lies a faded, ancient castle, its drawbridge retracted and its moat dried up. Alongside the castle wall, a new stone gate has been constructed leading into the inner citadel, where a dozen or so luxury sedans are parked in what was once a stable, now converted into a parking lot.
From the outside, the castle looks neglected and lifeless, but upon entering through the stone passageway, one could see an earnest effort to preserve the original appearance of the fortress while incorporating a full set of modern amenities such as electric wires, lights, Central air conditioning, water pipes, and a network signal system.
Every ten meters or so stood bodyguards clad in bulletproof black suits, patrolling and standing guard with ICR automatic rifles.
Several kilometers away from the outer castle, concealed defensive fortifications have been dug and are housing mercenaries.
This then is the headquarters of Humanity’s dawn.
In the inner city’s stone conference room, there is a round table at which six men and two women are seated, their expressions grave as they discuss matters of utmost secrecy.
"First Fogen, then Steijie, gentlemen, how many more Presidents must we lose control of?"
The speaker was an elderly man with white hair. He was over seventy, yet still bright and spirited, bearing a youthful face despite his age and was not overweight. With the help of modern technology, he maintained the physical age of around fifty. Ignoring the white hair, he looked like a man in his early fifties, a charming gentleman.
"Steijie was under our control, but our intelligence was behind. We didn’t expect that Wei Tianyang could absorb a superpower and had already acquired the ability to read minds," said the woman in the white suit in a grave voice.
Her face was covered with a veil and her blonde hair fell to her shoulders, but the wrinkles at the corner of her mouth suggested she was no longer young.
"Is that good news or bad news?" asked the gentleman.
"I think it’s a mix of both. At least it proves that humans can coexist peacefully with the flesh and blood of the Heavenly Falling Objects, and possibly achieve a symbiotic relationship. But clearly, Wei Tianyang is not on our side," the woman said.
"Over at Yin Country, the Lingxian Sect has their fingers in too many pies. We’ve been fighting shadow wars with them for a while now, but he’s become too close to Zhao Ling," said a bald man sitting at the far end.
"Gentlemen. Ladies." The gentleman looked around at the members at the table and continued, "We still have a chance."
Everyone was silent.
"Spencer... for certain reasons, is no longer one of us, but he too is very close to Wei Tianyang, and even in Libitelli, he took action to save Spencer," said the gentleman.
"He also saved him once in Seychelles Waters, and Netherworld King has held a grudge ever since," added the woman.
"Perhaps we still have a chance to make Spencer change his mind," the gentleman remarked.
"How do we get him to come back? Our last meeting wasn’t friendly," the bald man reminded.
"Bring him back to lead us," the gentleman said.
The members around the round table fell silent for a moment before they began discussing among themselves, looking at one another.
"Gentlemen, ladies," the gentleman continued.
Everyone quieted down.
"I know you may find this surprising. But right now, there is nothing more important than the future of humanity. Our beliefs and pursuit are being challenged; we need to change some of our ways and longstanding prejudices," the gentleman said.
"He doesn’t agree with our technological path," the bald man interjected, raising his hand.
Everyone nodded.
"If we let him lead the dawn of humanity, everything we have accumulated may be denied," the woman also said.
"We have accumulated many capabilities to get to where we are today. Behind the blood-flesh fusion technology lies the effort of hundreds of teams, and many billionaires have also thrown billions of Langkes at us to squander. You need to understand the risks and costs of doing this," the bald man continued.
"I know... I know, Spencer might be more stubborn, but he is our only chance to get close to Wei Tianyang. Do you have any other good ideas?" the gentleman asked.
The members remained silent.
"Wei Tianyang is the last piece of the puzzle, whether our technology can be perfected, it only depends on him. He is the door to a brand-new future for humanity... No matter what, we must get him," the gentleman said.
Although everyone still found it hard to accept, they were also clear that Spencer was their last chance.
The previous contempt and hostility had already damaged the relationship with Wei Tianyang and the dawn of humanity, they did not hope to become friends with him, but at the very least, they had to try to return to a neutral position.
"The Lingxian Sect made a bad move, they actually sent someone to directly oppose Wei Tianyang. Now, we have taken the initiative," the gentleman continued.
"Whether Spencer is willing to come back is still a question. In recent years, he has been buying up our shares in the United Pharmaceutical Company, and at the moment, our control over him is almost zero," the woman said.
"I will deal with it personally," the gentleman said.
He tilted his head back, looking toward the great door of the hall, which stood open, its stone walls silent.
The next day, Wei Tianyang woke up from bed, the gentle ringing of the wake-up alarm echoing softly in the room. Rubbing his eyes and following a wash, the doorbell sounded.
Emerging from the bathroom, he gave a kick to Baphomet who was curled up on the small rug, and the creature sensibly slipped into objective reality.
It could go for a stroll elsewhere, like the grassy fields behind the hotel, and come back to find him later.
Wei Tianyang opened the door to see a 40-something man in a suit, who greeted him with a smile.
After putting on his headset, he learned that the man was the Secretary of the Office of the President of Prussia, who had already been waiting at the door for two hours. Only when he heard activity from the bathroom did he dare to ring the doorbell.
Wei Tianyang nodded, checked his phone, and saw it was already 10 a.m. It seemed he had been very tired last night and had slept deeply.
The President’s Secretary was polite and humble, saying, "President Leona would like to have a chat with you."
"Now?" Wei Tianyang asked.
"It won’t take up much of your time. There will also be a small celebration in the afternoon that you are invited to attend," the President’s Secretary said.
Such an invitation was hard for Wei Tianyang to refuse, recalling the matters President Leona had mentioned in the car, so he agreed.
The two rode the elevator together to the third floor of the hotel. To Wei Tianyang’s surprise, President Leona was actually in one of the guest rooms on the third floor, just below his own...
The bodyguard at the door stepped aside to let them through, the President’s Secretary knocked on the door and spoke softly, then let Wei Tianyang into the room.
Although it was nearing noon, President Leona had drawn the curtains tightly shut, making the room so dark that the lights had to be turned on.
She was dressed in a light green suit, her hair cascading over her shoulders, inviting Wei Tianyang to sit on the sofa and personally brought him a glass of whiskey.
The two sat opposite each other sipping their drinks, and President Leona spoke first, "Do you still remember... what we discussed a few days ago?"
Wei Tianyang nodded and asked, "Have you heard of the MSF?"
"I know. It is a spontaneous organization built on lies, a group of deceived soldiers taking on the responsibilities that should be borne by a nation..." President Leona said with some guilt.
