Chapter 182 - 180: The Demon
Chapter 182: Chapter 180: The Demon
He set aside that tiny thought for the moment, left the nuclear bomb here at the abandoned airport, and flew all the way to Feinan City after using the objective reality to leave.
Using the offline map on his mobile phone, Wei Tianyang flew tens of kilometers, and the distant town appeared under the red moon. However, upon closer inspection, he realized that the buildings in the city had already collapsed.
He suddenly landed, had just cut out of objective reality, and received a phone call from Du Ming.
"Wei? Your phone was busy just now. The defense forces of Yixu just launched missiles at Feinan City. I’ve contacted Shepherd, and he asked me to find you to think of a solution," Du Ming said anxiously.
It was already past 4 a.m., and the sky behind Wei Tianyang was beginning to lighten, but in front of him, dust filled the air. After the buildings were destroyed by missiles, the rising smoke and dust blotted out the sky, enveloping the entire city, making it impossible to look directly at it.
He ran into the city, where many citizens were evacuating towards the outskirts in their pajamas and slippers, and others were shouting into their phones.
Even in Chicken Snake Country, he had never seen such a scene. He saw no police cars, no ambulances, and it took a long while before he saw a few people in black uniforms, who looked like security bureau officials, helping to evacuate the civilians.
Wei Tianyang teleported to the roof of a residential building. Most of the buildings to the south had collapsed, and there was fire to the right—evidence that the incoming missiles weren’t just a few but rather in the double digits. Otherwise, the city wouldn’t have been so devastated.
At the moment, parts of the streets were blocked by rubble, and many people were digging by hand near the ruins of buildings, trying to rescue those who were buried alive.
"Du Ming? Are you and Spencer okay?" Wei Tianyang asked.
"We’re alright, but the debris has blocked the way. The apartment building next to the homestay has collapsed in half, and we’re temporarily trapped. Oh, and it’s not just the two of us; there are also a dozen civilians with us," Du Ming replied.
"Hold on, I’m coming," Wei Tianyang said.
He hung up the phone, cut into objective reality, and in an instant, flew to the vicinity of the homestay. The street in front of the homestay had been blown into a huge crater. A nearby residential building had a large hole blasted into its second floor, and the entire building had collapsed onto the homestay like dominoes, with debris blocking the entrance and flames coming out of some windows.
"Help! Help!"
"Lord Rada Gan... bless us... please bless us..."
"Wuu..."
Wei Tianyang ran past the people on the street who were like the walking dead and quickly reached the entrance to the homestay. He reached his right hand into the crevices of the wreckage, and when he exerted force, he managed to crumble the debris.
He tried to move the debris aside, but his strength was too great, and he ended up breaking only large chunks.
"This won’t work, these things are too scattered and break on force..." Wei Tianyang muttered to himself.
Through the piles of debris and trash, he shouted towards the entrance of the homestay, "Du Ming?! Can you hear me?"
After a while, Du Ming’s voice came from the other side: "Wei? We’re right at the entrance!"
The voice sounded quite clear; they were not far apart.
He shouted again, "Move back! I’m going to smash this trash!"
Upon hearing this, Du Ming quickly turned and shouted to the people in the hallway, "Move back! Quickly, move back!"
Spencer followed him, also shifting towards the end of the hallway. Once Du Ming estimated that the distance was sufficient, he sent a text message to Wei Tianyang.
After confirming Du Ming’s message, Wei Tianyang had no further concerns. He clenched his right fist and struck the collapsed rubble with all his might. The enormous impact created a circular strike surface with a radius of 1 meter, as if a pile driver had been used horizontally.
On the wreckage, a series of black web-like patterns appeared instantaneously, vanishing in the split second of breaking apart.
Although Du Ming was hiding at the back end of the homestay’s corridor, when he heard the noise outside, he instinctively raised his hands in a defensive gesture, but he waited a long time without any flying debris hitting him.
At that moment, Spencer patted his shoulder and chuckled, "He’s there."
Du Ming lowered his hands and saw Wei Tianyang standing seven or eight meters away, having just pulled back his fist, his pose resembling the saints from the animated shows who had just unleashed a mighty special move.
"Wei!" Du Ming beamed with joy.
But behind him, the group of trapped residents rushed out of the homestay first, spilling onto the street.
Wei Tianyang paid them no mind and walked straight into the homestay to check on Spencer and Du Ming. Despite being covered in dust, neither of them was hurt, and their spirits were both high.
"What happened here? When did the attack start?" Wei Tianyang asked.
"About half an hour ago, they came in fiercely and fired a lot of missiles. There aren’t any military targets here, are there? How could they be bombing civilians indiscriminately?!" Du Ming said angrily.
"Military targets..." Spencer pondered.
"All tasks are complete, we need to get out of here," Wei Tianyang said.
"Hold on! Wei Tianyang, we are war observers! Yixu is bombing civilians, we have to fulfill our responsibilities!" Du Ming said.
"Isn’t it enough to take videos? Who knows if there will be a second round of airstrikes," Wei Tianyang said.
"Let’s take some footage. I was blocked in the guesthouse earlier and didn’t capture much. There are still a lot of civilians in the city, we need to find a way to contact the peacekeeping forces," Du Ming said.
"Peacekeeping forces can’t get in," Wei Tianyang shook his head.
"Then help me take pictures, I’ll go find a car and get this old man out of the city first," Du Ming said.
Wei Tianyang thought for a moment and said, "Okay, head south, to this coordinate point. Shadow will send a helicopter to pick you up."
He tapped his phone against Du Ming’s, exchanging tactical maps.
At that moment, the roar of tank engines came from outside the building. All three were startled, and the next second, a loud boom was heard as the tank’s main cannon struck some target, sending shattered stones to the ground and making the floor beneath them tremble.
"Damn... they... brought the armored troops in?" Du Ming was somewhat astonished.
"Both of you get out of here fast! I’ll go take videos..." Wei Tianyang said.
Spencer then said, "Wei, remember what you promised me."
Wei Tianyang nodded and said, "If the army takes over here, Rada Gan won’t just stand by and watch, right?"
"It’s up to you to find the answer!" Spencer said.
Du Ming didn’t understand what the two were talking about, but he nodded at Wei Tianyang and then left with Spencer.
Wei Tianyang rushed to the street, hearing the sound of carbine gunfire from the west followed by loud cries from the civilians and then silence.
He instantly reached that street, a stench of blood filling his nostrils, and saw a large group of civilians sprawled on the ground. The whole street had turned into a river of blood, and the burning buildings lit up the sky. At the end of the street, two tanks and a dozen black figures, like demons crawling out from Hell, were slowly approaching him.
The instant Wei Tianyang teleported to the rooftop, the tank fired again. If he had stayed in his original position, he might’ve been hit directly by an explosive shell.
"Have they gone mad? Using tank main cannons on people?" Wei Tianyang wondered aloud.
He had seen the official army of Chicken Snake Country killing people before, but even then they would round up people with trucks before picking them off with rifles.
But this defense army of Yixu was certainly lavish, using tank main cannons that cost 4,200 Langke a shot to kill civilians.
He crouched on the rooftop, tuning in his earpiece, carefully observing the situation below. He saw the infantry that had followed the tanks cheerfully stepping over bodies to check their kills.
A few soldiers stood in front of the bodies, took out their cellphones for a pose, and took pictures, laughing, "Killed a few more demons! Hahaha!!"
Behind the tanks, there was another squad. They were far away, throwing grenades into civilian houses and firing randomly into the dark stairwells.
"We didn’t hit him! He ran away!" the soldiers below shouted into their walkie-talkies.
"Over there! There are many demons!" some soldiers pointed towards a group of buildings to the south.
"Hasn’t that area been bombed? Is it safe?!" a soldier asked.
"It should be safe, there are only demons here. Demons without guns," the lead soldier said.
"No, let the headquarters fire missiles over there! Otherwise, I won’t go!" the former soldier refused, his tone very serious.
Wei Tianyang nearly laughed out loud. He recorded all of this on video, then stood up. In the blink of an eye, the entire city turned into ruins, and in that moment, he felt as if he had returned to Chicken Snake Country.
"Demons? You come to kill demons?" Wei Tianyang sneered, his right hand morphing into a Bone Knife, his scarlet pupils flashing with light.
Then, let me show you what a real demon looks like.
