Chapter 183: Chapter 181 Beauty and the Beast
"When Wei Tianyang teleported to the ground, the Yixu Defense Army didn’t realize anything unusual.
The night was too dark, smoke billowed, and flames filled the sky. They only mistook him for a pitiable and unlucky Azaha citizen who had lost his way while fleeing and ran into the muzzle of a gun.
Everyone wanted the glory of making the kill. If they killed him and severed his head, they could label him as a ’spy,’ ’agent,’ or ’Azaha Soldier Captain.’
However, the next second, Wei Tianyang disappeared.
Immediately after, the first soldier attacked couldn’t even muster a scream before his lower body separated from his upper body. Writhing in pain, he subconsciously pulled the trigger of his rifle and shot his comrade standing in front of him.
Wei Tianyang was decisive in his actions; he disliked torturing his enemies. What he sought was a fatal blow; killing was a means to an end. He didn’t enjoy the process of killing.
The soldiers were thrown into disarray. The accompanying tanks wanted to use drones to survey the situation, but the thick smoke and dark, overcast sky hindered their vision, making the thermal imaging useless due to the city’s bright fires.
The infantry was quickly wiped out. Wei Tianyang’s left foot fiercely kicked the side armor of a tank, emitting a loud clang. The tank slid and drifted for ten meters and ended up crashing into the ruins of a nearby building, with half of its body stuck in a wall.
The impact was enough to kill the driver. In addition, one of the tracks had been severed by his kick, and the road wheels were deformed and jammed in the axle. The tank had lost its combat capability.
He glanced at his watch. The entire operation took just 30 seconds.
Gunshots echoed continuously, flames crackled as they burned, and amidst the noise of individual rocket launchers being fired, the rumble of armored vehicles could be heard in the distance.
Wei Tianyang had captured some good footage, but he felt that he could do more than just that...
Half an hour later, the clamor in the city subsided.
The gunshots died down, and the armored vehicles no longer moved. Dozens of mangled bodies of Yixu Defense Army soldiers lay abandoned on the blood-stained streets. Tanks were overturned in nearby ruins, and transported vehicles lay flipped on their tops, with soldiers that hadn’t disembarked turned into mince inside the compartments.
Wei Tianyang sat on a pile of debris, pinching his phone in both hands and horizontally watching the video he had just shot.
"Wei? Where are you?" Du Ming’s voice came through the earpiece.
"I’m still in the city. You’ve already left, right?" Wei Tianyang said.
"Yeah! We’re rushing to the evacuation point. Shadow just contacted us. But they’re asking me why I have another person with me," Du Ming said.
"The old man with you is a high-value target. If someone asks, tell them to contact Steijie," Wei Tianyang casually said.
"Got it... But I think it would be more effective if you told them directly. As long as you give the word, they’ll have no issues," Du Ming said.
"There’s no need to trouble myself. I’m editing the video, and my phone is burning up. I’m hanging up now," Wei Tianyang said.
"Uh... Okay, actually, you don’t need to edit it on-site. Bring the raw files back, and the council has professionals to handle it," Du Ming reminded.
"I understand. I’m just checking to see what needs to be deleted..." Wei Tianyang said.
He intended to cut out the parts where he killed people, as those segments were too brutal, and he worried they wouldn’t pass the review.
"Then, let’s end the call now," Du Ming said.
Meanwhile, at the evacuation point.
A black military helicopter descended slowly. The propellers stirred ripples in the grass. It was 5 a.m., with the sky in a twilight state of neither dark nor light. They had flown in from a neighboring country, pressed for time.
Grev and four members of Shadow PMC opened the hatch door. He was the first to land, holding a satellite tablet while keeping watch over the surroundings. His HBR rifle was propped against his side; he felt that it likely wouldn’t be needed for this mission.
"Shadow calling Woodpecker, respond if you receive this," Grev adjusted his headset and said.
"This is Woodpecker, we’re close. It’s an SUV, watch for friendly fire," Du Ming replied.
"That old man better be a key character, our original plan didn’t require evacuating twice," Grev said.
"Take it up with Owl," Du Ming replied.
"Make sure you don’t lead a tail, Shadow out," Grev said.
Some minutes later, Du Ming’s vehicle successfully reached the evacuation point. This wasteland was within Azaha territory, yet it was only separated from Alkid by a single mountain. Military helicopters could cross over the mountain range and traverse the two countries in 30 minutes.
They boarded the helicopter and quickly evacuated. Before they left, Grev picked up a man-portable rocket launcher and blew the SUV to pieces.
It was 6:12 a.m.
At this time, Wei Tianyang was still in Feinan City. The Yixu Defense Army had finally arrived, and the surviving civilians took advantage of the daylight to return from the edges of the city, attempting to salvage what they could from the ruins.
The Yixu Defense Army appeared on the streets at 6:40 a.m., by which time the day had fully dawned.
Wei Tianyang saw they were dressed in plainclothes, but they were fully equipped with bulletproof vests and helmets, and the rifles they carried were DRH and ICR supplied from the Western Alliance and Sethiyan Federation. The tanks and armored vehicles were old modified models from Yin Country. This Rada Gan’s connections were even wilder than Li Fei’s back in the day.
When the first infantry squad spotted Wei Tianyang, he was sitting atop some rubble, but he wasn’t fiddling with his phone anymore since it had run out of battery after being unplugged all night. At that moment, Wei Tianyang was eating chocolate compressed cookies.
At first, they thought he was a homeless civilian and waved to him kindly. But then, upon realizing he was from the East Continent, they cautiously pointed their guns at him.
"Who are you?! Azaha has not accepted any foreigners for two years!" the soldier shouted.
Wei Tianyang chewed on his chocolate bar, expressionless as he looked at them. Then he shifted his gaze behind them.
By a tank, there stood a tall woman. They were roughly 20 meters apart, but her height still made an impact on him.
The height of a medium tank’s chassis was typically close to the height of an adult man, and including the turret, it should be around 3-4 meters.
The woman, standing next to the tank, had her hips higher than the chassis, and her head was already towering above the turret. By estimate, she was around 3 meters tall.
Matching her terrifying height was her sturdy physique, waist-length white hair, and a chest that bulged like two basketballs. She wore a black, tight-fitting leather jacket, arms exposed, skin pale, with some white body hair on her shoulders.
Wei Tianyang caught a whiff of a warm, moist body odor, salty with a hint of breast milk’s fragrance.
He looked down, recalling that he had encountered an unfinished product of the Beast Project when he escaped from Zero Nine One Reception Station. The scent from that woman was very similar to it.
Beauty and the Beast?
It seemed there was more than one unfinished product of the Beast Project. And how huge was this one?
He just watched the woman from afar, thinking she might not be a product of the Beast Project but rather a subspecies from another branch. With so many pharmaceutical projects, he couldn’t distinguish them clearly.
The surrounding soldiers were slowly closing in. Wei Tianyang tossed away the wrapper, clapped his hands, and stood up.
This movement scared the soldiers to a halt.
The woman simply bent her knees slightly and leaped in front of Wei Tianyang in one go.
She crashed down, cracking the ground beneath her, and the resulting shockwave caused rubble to cascade down around Wei Tianyang. The nearby soldiers all fell smack onto the ground.
"Don’t get close to him," the woman said, her voice hoarse, her eyes glinting with a tea-colored light.
"You too are an unfinished product, aren’t you?" The woman stared at Wei Tianyang, a stern expression on her face as she asked in a deep voice.
