I am chasing a rough man in the 80s
Chapter 720: Using it in the Right Place

Chapter 720: Chapter 720: Using it in the Right Place

Soon, Luoluo attended her second piano lesson.

With Yu Jingting keeping an eye on the skating rink and Bobo at home unattended, Suizi brought him along as well.

Suizi was worried that her active, energetic maiden would not be able to sit still; unexpectedly, Luoluo adapted very well. Her great-aunt promised to allow her to climb the little trees in their courtyard as long as she completed her forty-minute lesson.

Normally, Luoluo isn’t allowed to climb trees, so she was energized by the prospect. Her great-aunt’s teaching method was a great success.

Seeing that her daughter was not fussing, Suizi felt reassured and took Bobo to the market to buy groceries.

After buying groceries, Suizi stopped to have a chat with the pedicab driver parked on the roadside.

"Master, the pregnant woman you took the other time, did you drop her home?" she asked.

Upon her inquiry, the driver’s eyes began to evade, and he quickly replied:

"I had taken her home."

"Does she live close?" Suizi inquired further.

"Yes, just in a nearby alley."

"Which house?" Bobo, who had been engrossed in observing ants, unexpectedly joined the conversation.

The driver was taken aback, not expecting this curious young one to ask such a question.

"It’s, it’s the third house, or maybe the fourth, I can’t remember clearly."

Overhearing the conversation, Suizi laughed and explained, "Sorry, my son is just a little curious, there’s no other intent."

On their way home, Bobo suddenly said:

"He was lying."

"What?"

"That man, he was lying."

Surprised, Suizi crouched down to look her son in the eye.

"He didn’t take the woman home at all, his eyes were like this when he was speaking."

Bobo shifted his eyes to the upper right. "At kindergarten, kids’ eyes look like that when they lie."

"Uhm — couldn’t it just be an individual habit?" Suizi asked.

Bobo mumbled, looking down: "It’s going to rain."

It took Suizi a few seconds to notice a line of ants seemingly moving home, carrying their food supplies with them.

No one had told him that ants moving home was a sign of rain; it was something he had observed on his own.

"Mum, do you think I’m lying?" Bobo looked up at Suizi, his eyes slightly sad.

Suizi’s heart ached. She embraced Bobo and kissed his forehead softly.

"No, darling. Mum knows you’re very smart, attentive, and observantly strong. You’re a..."

A promising budding artist. She swallowed those words back down.

Art doesn’t require early childhood training like music does. Starting art education at the age of seven is timely enough. It’s more important to nurture children’s interest and aesthetics at this stage.

Eager to push her children to excel, Suizi hid her true thoughts and reassured Bobo, touching him deeply.

"My sister and I seem different from other children, maybe children like Baby are considered normal."

Baby is Liu Xi’s daughter’s nickname. She’s lively and always smiling, very much matching the qualities typical of a child her age. But to the boy and girl twins, she often appears dumb.

Patting Bobo on the shoulder, Suizi voiced her thoughts seriously.

"You and Luoluo are gifts from heaven. The reason you’re different from other children is because you’re too smart. Clever children often don’t fit in, geniuses as children are often dismissed as fools, like Einstein."

Without even conducting any IQ test on her two children, Suizi knew for sure that their intelligence significantly surpassed their peers.

Luoluo is energetic and playful, straightforward, and doesn’t hide her feelings; thus, her high intelligence doesn’t affect her much.

Bobo, however, is different. He’s quiet and sensitive, has been since he was a baby.

From infancy, you could see he had great focus. Growing up, he would often sit quietly, deep in thought, not particularly fond of playing with other children.

At one point, Suizi was concerned that her son might have Asperger’s syndrome.

Asperger’s syndrome is a disorder on the autism spectrum, but it’s different from autism. Children affected by it are often intellectually gifted, yet socially awkward and emotionally immature. They struggle with social skills and have limited facial expressions.

Suizi tested these symptoms against her genius son and committed a classic parenting mistake, suspecting her child of being unhealthy.

Her fears were quashed when Chen Lijun found out and severely chastised her.

Lijun commented that she was similarly aloof as a child, yet she never considered Suizi to have Asperger’s syndrome or any other disorder — the name was too complicated for her to remember.

Fan Huang, who was passing by, also chimed in, saying he was the same as a child.

His comments earned him scornful looks from the mother-daughter duo, their expressions saying "like father, like son".

People instinctively reject those who are different from them. The instinct is innate — anyone appearing different or unique is likely to be alienated. Children who are deemed exceedingly ugly or incredibly intelligent often face similar discriminating experiences.

Therefore, Suizi took special care in this regard; luckily, Luoluo carried the family’s strong social genes. With her lively personality, always dragging her brother along to make new friends, get into mischief, and their goofy father always playing with them, Bobo’s sensitivity was far less pronounced than Suizi’s had been in her own childhood.

A happy childhood can heal a lifetime’s worth of wounds. This was clearly evident in her twins, the longer they lived, the clearer it was.

With his mother’s affirmation, the tension on Bobo’s tiny face finally eased, and he took a deep breath.

"Actually, I figured out that the man was lying not just because of his expression, but also because there are only three houses in that alley, not four. In the third house lives an old grandmother, not a pregnant lady."

Bobo is gifted with a photographic memory, any scene observed would be remembered accurately. He initially didn’t disclose this information to his mother out of concern she would see him as different from the others. After her reassuring words, he felt confident in speaking up.

Surprised, Suizi trusted her son’s words.

After reflecting briefly, she understood why the driver lied.

The woman likely never entered the pedicab, and since the cab fare was paid by Suizi, the driver didn’t want to refund the money, so he made up the lie.

Anyone else would have believed him.

But, as luck would have it, Suizi had a genius son...

Realizing she had been silent for quite a while and not wanting her son to overthink, Suizi kissed Bobo’s cheek.

"Good boy, you might save many people someday."

"Really?" Bobo was thrilled.

Suizi nodded steadfastly, patting her son’s shoulder.

"When used properly, abilities can become a tool to help others. If used improperly, they can harm both others and oneself, detrimental to both the country and its people. You have a talent that other children don’t, and when you grow up, you must use it correctly."

Bobo nodded, then shook his head.

"I don’t know what the right place is, but I don’t want to make mum and dad unhappy, so, I want to be mama’s boy."

The corner of Suizi’s mouth twitched. She was sure Bobo had heard the term while she was chatting with Liu Xi. The term mama’s boy wasn’t actually a compliment, it shouldn’t be used as it.

She quickly explained to Bobo what a mama’s boy was and that, while he is his mum’s treasure, he isn’t a mama’s boy.

Suizi decided to immediately recover her long-forgotten skill in drawing when she got back home.

She wanted to sketch a portrait for the pregnant woman and then deliver it to the police station.
