Chapter 609: The Jester

Within the confines of the workshop which served as Khanna’s throne room, an Automaton stood behind Her, sharing important information as She worked.

"According to the latest information, we have come across the tricksters of the Three Ring Bazaar in all twelve city-states of the Solomon Alliance. We were able to deal with them in four out of the twelve, unfortunately, the other eight were lucky enough to get away.

"So far, we haven’t been able to figure out why they have gotten so active, though it cannot be good judging from the underlying tensions currently existing between the city-states as well as the strange state of the barbarian god."

"Anything else?"

"We are currently trying to locate the new location of the Bazaar headquarters to launch a preemptive assault. Unfortunately, we haven’t been able to find anything yet."

Khanna let out a sigh, Her expression slightly troubled as She dropped what She was doing.

In truth, She hadn’t been able to work on anything new since the situation with the Bazaar began a few years ago.

She’d been stuck with old blueprints which was why development had slowed, causing Her Authority to slow down in its ascent.

It was rather troubling as the Jester, patron deity of the Three Ring Bazaar was a rival, one that would surely cause Her to fall should He ascend.

Unfortunately, even as She had tried to deal blows to him, the Jester had been smart, finding ways to subvert Her omniscience while going about his plans.

She could tell that he was preparing for his Apotheosis ritual, but why now?

He had awakened not too long after She became the Goddess of Automation and had reached the level of Demigod in the shortest time ever recorded for a divine being, but because of Her, he had gone into hiding, not daring to show himself for fear of being destroyed or even worse, imprisoned.

Yet now, he had decided to show himself in such an aggressive manner.

Why?

Tapping on the table with Her fingers, She intoned. "We have to prepare for the eventuality that they would do something crazy."

"What are your orders?" The Automaton asked as he went on one knee.

"Prepare to subjugate the entire continent." She calmly remarked.

Surely, whatever the Jester wished to do would undoubtedly cause chaos to descend on Henos which would undoubtedly impact Her Authority.

So the only way She could prevent that was to enforce order.

Usually, She wouldn’t do such a thing as involving Herself in human politics was beneath Her, but given the circumstances, She had no choice.

Just then, she felt something causing her expression to shift.

"My Lord, we are ready." Pierrot intoned in a respectful tone as he bowed to the being standing before him.

The being in question was a ridiculously tall male partially wearing a clown mask covering a portion of His face while the other uncovered potion was shadowed.

He wore a circus outfit along with a top hat while carrying a brilliantly decorated cane, his gaze seemingly fixated on the wilderness ahead.

Wonderful.

Even as He spoke using his divine voice, Pierrot didn’t react negatively, instead flashing a brilliant smile as he inquired.

"Do we fire?"

Until the Boundary falls, do not stop. Once it does, leave.

"As you command."

With that, Pierrot turned and left, making his way into the valley below where a carnival was taking place.

Loud discordant music played as several people with painted faces and wearing exaggerated clothing laughed maniacally as they moved about, their bodies moving in a manner that seemed quite unnatural.

These people were the audience, with the performers looking rather unique, just like Pierrot.

They all had similar masks to Pierrot, covering a quarter of their face.

"What did the boss say?" Harlequin asked as she leaped over.

"Let it rip," Pierrot said with a relish, causing Harlequin, one of the five Apostles of The Joker, to clap in excitement.

"Yay."

She ran into one of the larger tents only for the tent to disappear like a lie, revealing a ridiculously sized cannon forged from Quillion.

Pierrot watched as Bozo, yet another Apostle, approached with a suitcase that seemed to tilt the large-bodied individual to an angle.

Harlequin clapped repeatedly as she muttered. "So exciting."

Bozo said nothing, merely grunting as he placed the suitcase beside the cannon causing the area it landed on to sink inside.

Then, he opened the suitcase, revealing three cannon balls which looked quite different from the usual thing.

These three seemed to be made from pure amorphous energy and just standing close to it caused Bozo’s skin to begin to deconstruct.

The large clown immediately began to let out anguished cries with Harlequin helping to drag him away before the damage worsened.

"I’m sorry Bozo, don’t cry." As Harlequin comforted him, yet another Apostle stepped up with two red pistol-shaped constructs.

He pulled back on the trigger causing two boxing gloves attached to coiled springs to emerge.

The boxing gloves reached for the amorphous cannon balls and picked up the suitcase before proceeding to overturn it into the prepared cannon just before it disintegrated causing the weapon to whir as it stirred to life.

And so, without further ado, the last of the Apostles, Scarecrow, pulled the trigger for the cannon, which was a retractable rope at the side, only to be sent flying due to the recoil.

The next moment, a brilliant black light shot out from the cannon causing the ground beneath it to fracture and travel the distance before slamming into the Boundary.

The entire area darkened, sapping up all the light in the vicinity while causing tears in space, resulting in void openings.

It didn’t even reach up to a minute before the Boundary tore open, unable to withstand the dematerializing capabilities of the black ray.

But it didn’t stop there as the ray continued, distorting the fact that Cinerath and Eventide were on two different planes to strike at the divine kingdom of the Goddess.

A resounding explosion occurred a moment after.
