Hunter of the Evernight -
Chapter 520: Starry sky
Chapter 520: Starry sky
Are you certain you wish to go through with this?
The Witch of Fables inquired in a tone that seemed somewhat caring.
Alex chuckled. "Why?... You think I will fail?"
Sister Crimson is a bonafide 1st-Class Otherworldly reigning supreme within the Abyss. Even if it’s just a shadow above Razan skies, you would be punching high above your weight.
"Can you take it on?"
The Witch of Fables shook her head.
I wouldn’t dare. Even if I were to go all out, the best would be a fairly grievous wound that could be easily dealt with. Perhaps, only that great figure would dare to face such a being despite being a mortal.
"Who is that?"
An old friend.
The Witch simply replied, unwilling to say more.
Alex let out a sigh. "I understand the risks involved but as long as my life is not threatened, we can at least try it out. After all, I still have an ace."
As he spoke, he released a small portion of Nyx’s authority causing the Witch to frown.
I do not wish to berate you so, but you must know that borrowed Authority can never be as useful as having your own. This Authority of yours is empty and so, I doubt it would last long enough to contend with the blood banquet Sister Crimson conjured.
"That is why I came to you." Alex calmly remarked.
Hmm?
"You just said that it can contend with Sister Crimson."
Naturally. Even if it is an empty threat in your hands, it is enough that its original wielder is a powerhouse beyond what I or Sister Crimson can contend with.
"Which means I need to make the most of what I can get."
Seeing no flaw in Alex’s logic, The Witch let out a resigned sigh.
Alright then, I will trust in your instincts. I hope you remember my aid when the time for our discussion arrives.
"Don’t worry, as long as it’s not detrimental to me then I’ll naturally help you."
The Witch of Fables scrutinized him before ultimately nodding after which she stretched her hand out, causing a paper filled with arcane writings to flash forward and into her grasp.
She tossed it at Alex just as the latter snapped his fingers.
What followed was the slowing down of time to one-tenth of its normal speed.
At the same time, Nyx’s authority erupted like a volcano followed by the emergence of Eternal Night.
Within slowed time, it looked like ink slowly staining a white sheet of paper.
Meanwhile, Victoria opened four portals corresponding to the four cardinal directions, connecting the Spirit World to Eventide while Humphrey let out a resigned sigh as he acted as well, transmuting the fog permeating most of the ethereal which he used to bend space to his Will.
Within seconds, he seemed to have created several connected spaces based on Alex’s descriptions, causing the structures to resemble incredibly large mirrors.
But that was not all as the Witch of Fables pulled out yet another paper.
A worthy investment.
That was what she used to console herself before tossing the paper at Alex, serving to increase the amount of time Nyx’s authority would be effective.
Hopefully, they all thought, this would be enough.

"Since when did the Night Kindred gain the audacity to approach our headquarters so brazenly?" Charles inquired as he appeared at BlackWatch’s walls to find Vorigan and the other Monarchs standing outside with complicated expressions on their faces.
Naturally, none were happy to be here but judging from the current stage of things, they hardly had much of a choice.
It was either the Empire or the Abyss and as much as they hated to admit it, the Monarchs fancied their chances more against the Empire than a full-blown invasion from the Abyss.
Vorigan stepped forward as the representative of the Night Kindred. "Greetings to this generation’s Battle God."
Aiden acknowledged his greeting. "You can tell?"
"Only a Battle God would be as sharp as you. Merely looking at you hurts the eyes." Vorigan admitted, unwilling to beat around the bush.
"Fine then, I heard that it’s the Dark Lord that sent you, is this true?"
"The Dark Lord is wise beyond his years. He understands that the only way Ra’as would survive the coming calamity is if its greatest powers come together to fight."
"And you expect us to welcome you in as brothers?... Do you think we are stupid?" Godric mocked only for Beatrice to shoot back.
"You would be more than idiotic not to accept our aid. Do you think we are happy to be here?"
Godric glared at her, causing the Monarch to step back.
In haste, she had forgotten that even as a Monarch, she was hardly a Saint’s match.
Perhaps if it were the Dark Ages or she had an Innate Talent, the suppression wouldn’t be so bad.
"Godric." Aiden calmly called out with Godric letting out a sigh as he retracted his gaze.
Shifting his attention back to Vorigan, Aiden was just about to speak when he sensed something causing his gaze to shift upward.
Though curious, none of the Monarchs dared to follow his gaze.
They had already suffered once for overstepping their boundaries.
The Warriors had Antimagic to drive away the madness for a while, they did not.
However, just as they began to wonder what Aiden had sensed, the red light bathing them began to recede at a rapid rate, catching them completely off guard.
Instinctively, everyone began to look up and that was when they saw it.
The blood red sky that had persisted since the 1st Long Night, was slowly being covered up by a starry sky.

Obadiah opened his eyes after a long while.
Having taken care of the Vampires and Hyenas in the Eastern Highlands as well as coating the area in a dark curtain that prevented prying, while even sending out Classless creatures to bother the Empire and an avatar to taunt BlackWatch, he thought there would be no more problems leading up to the birth of the Savior.
But who would have thought?
He turned his gaze upward as a starry night sky unfurled itself, obscuring the crimson sky.
His lips parted as he uttered two words.
Dark Lord.
