Chapter 521: A deep sense of calm

Had it been an hour already?... Natasha couldn’t tell as she watched from a hidden spot within the wall as the undead poured into Parafall like a tide, washing over everything, and causing destruction in their wake.

Leslie sat beside her, his breathing heavy and his body covered in sweat.

He struggled to regain himself but it proved to be an uphill task which was understandable considering he had pushed himself beyond his limit.

Perhaps due to his unwillingness to back down, he felt that it might be possible for him to challenge the 5th Advancement of the Warriors Wheel.

Of course, that was if he could survive what was to come.

Space in the city was growing thin as the undead charged forth like mad dogs, incited by the encompassing will of the Headless Horseman leading them.

Speaking of, the flaming bastard still hadn’t gotten close to the walls, merely using the overwhelming numbers at his disposal to rampage through Parafall’s streets.

Thankfully, of the survivors from the unfortunate riot brought about by Leslie’s poor decision-making, a few had left the city with the last train and airship that were still working, while a good number were bunkered up in the underground tunnels.

Hopefully, the entrances wouldn’t be discovered.

Natasha let out a heavy sigh as she struggled to her feet only to drop back down.

It seemed she was also quite exhausted.

"Just wait. There’s nothing else we can do as is." Leslie intoned in a hoarse voice, coughing roughly once he was done.

Just as she made to offer a response, there was a sudden sense of calm, in stark contrast to the bloodlust that had filled the air since the 1st Long Night.

Even the raging yin permeating the atmosphere was forced to enter a state akin to slumber, stifling it for a time.

Leslie sensed it too as his expression shifted.

Instinctively, both shifted their gaze to the blood-red sky above only that it was no longer red, instead, it was black with white sparkling lights that left one breathless.

Natasha had a vague feeling she knew who was responsible for such a beautiful sight.

Meanwhile, the undead below, though still active, grew calm and the Horseman leading them found its flames no longer as aggressive as before.

A strong desire to sleep pervaded the area a moment later.

"We need to do something!" The nameless nun cried out as she rushed into Obadiah’s chamber without a single care in the world.

Obadiah’s gaze remained on the sky above as he replied.

I am aware.

"Without the blood banquet, we are lacking in the blood required to fuel the Savior’s vitality. The time is nigh and if something isn’t done, then the Savior would be born a weakling. He won’t be able to shoulder his burden effectively!"

I am aware.

Realizing that she may be acting out of bounds, the nun managed to calm herself long enough to hear Obadiah speak again.

I will deal with this personally. Don’t fret, the birth shall commence as planned.

A smile suffused the lips of the blind nun as she took a step back and bowed in reverence.

"Thank you."

Do not thank me. After all, the birth of the Savior is an event beneficial to us all.

With that, he got to his feet and slowly began to ascend, after which, darkness emerged to swallow his figure.

By the time the darkness receded, he was gone.

The nun let out a sigh of relief. "O Mother, do not worry, all shall go as planned. The Savior shall be born and then this world can be saved."

"Is this the Dark Lord’s domain?" Henry couldn’t help but question even as he already knew the answer.

Aiden chuckled. "He has gone and learned a few new tricks."

Meanwhile, the Vampires below marveled at the sight.

To think that the Dark Lord was this powerful.

They had thought he was still growing but perhaps they were wrong.

This level of power wasn’t something a person who was ’just growing’ could conjure.

Instinctively, even those who were rebellious began to feel that perhaps, he truly was the savior that would save them from calamity.

Unbeknownst to them, that acknowledgment served to strengthen a certain Dark Lord.

However, the marvel of the current scene ended up dimming ever so slightly and alas, it was quite literal.

A vast swathe of darkness began to move from the direction of the Eastern Highlands, seeking to contend with the starry sky.

Sensing a corrosive intent, Aiden immediately glanced in another direction.

To think that he hadn’t sensed the figure before they took action.

It was quite shocking though it became less so once he sensed the flow of divinity.

His expression shifted ever so slightly. "It would seem our Daemon friend is not happy with the Dark Lord’s actions."

The other Saints looked over as well.

"Him acting now means whatever the Dark Lord is doing is throwing a wrench in their plans." Oswald calmly stated with the others nodding in agreement.

Godric sighed. "As much as it sounds weird to say this, it would seem we have to assist the Dark Lord."

"It would seem so." Lionel nodded. "How do we attack?"

The Battle God looked left and then right before proceeding to unleash his Power.

It manifested as a silver light that connected all Saints to him.

Their auras seemed to rise resulting in a visual phenomenon so stunning, that it attracted the attention of their target.

As Obadiah’s expression in the distance turned ugly, Aiden intoned. "Together, of course."

The result was instantaneous if one didn’t account for the slowed time-space he was in.

Alex felt the Locks he’d lost slowly open once again, filling his Pneuma with the Understanding that Adam had kept sealed.

As his Authority rose, so did the time Nyx’s Authority would remain relevant.

At the same time, he also felt a probing aura, one that was as bloody as it was mad.

It seemed Sister Crimson had noticed his interference but it didn’t matter.

His plan was almost at an...

He didn’t know when but a certain gaze fell upon him in that moment, causing all bodily functions to freeze.

The gaze was majestic as much as it was ancient and serene.

Alex felt that perhaps only current Nyx and Ashtyx could contend against such power.

It also somewhat reminded him of Penemuel from BoneHaven, albeit a less mad version.

Before he could figure out what was happening, the gaze was withdrawn and all that was left was a deep sense of calm.
