Chapter 515: A win is a win

Chapter 515: A win is a win

Finally able to ignore the damage Humphrey’s attack had wrought, Winter raised its gaze to reflect Alex’s group, immediately impacting them with a force that sought to freeze their very existence.

Alas, its attack was cut short as several beams struck it in quick succession, suppressing Winter for a fraction of a second.

Using the opportunity, Alejandro in his Beast form, didn’t hesitate to act as well, drawing upon his lifeblood and the core that made up the existence of Fenrir.

Following this, a wave of destruction, characterized by a flow of magma materialized from thin air before pouring down on Winter.

The magma froze upon touching Winter’s body but its destructive properties still aided Alex’s Rune by further restricting the Otherworldly.

Of course, despite their efforts which were carried out in full force, it all resembled how a large creature would act when troubled by tiny insects.

Indeed, this was the strength of a 1st-Class Otherworldly barely restrained by the Will of the World.

Nevertheless, Alex never held out any hopes that his attacks would be able to harm Winter and so, wasn’t too surprised with the result.

Instead, he waited patiently, sensing the buildup of energy within Charlotte as she prepared for a decisive strike.

Meanwhile, at the side, Humphrey pondered if it were okay to stand aside and so after much thought, decided to take part only for Alex to stop him.

"This isn’t your fight. Not yet."

Humphrey furrowed his brows but ultimately nodded before taking a step back.

Just then, the world seemed to freeze, affecting everything within a several-mile radius of Winter.

None were spared and even concepts paused as well.

But within this, one person still moved without problems.

Charlotte began to take steady steps forward, her eyes ablaze with the remnant divinity left from Humphrey’s dead body.

A blizzard engulfed her at the behest of Winter’s will, yet Embers burned about her, erasing the snowstorm with ease.

Charlotte grinned at that moment, having revealed the last ace up her sleeve.

The next moment, she teleported in a flash of black and white and appeared in front of the Otherworldly before thrusting her blade forward with savage intent.

The attack connected with Winter’s left eye, resulting in a maddening scream that reached the ends of the continent.

Dangerous snow storms whipped up at every corner, threatening to devour those not strong enough to resist while all forms of liquid froze over for a time.

Charlotte was blown back by the force, her form flickering dangerously as she struggled to stand tall.

Winter instinctively pulled back and at that point, only its head remained in Eventide resulting in the collapse of its ability to freeze all things.

Free at last, both Alejandro and Humphrey gasped at the incredulous sight ahead.

One had to understand that in the history of Eventide, none had ever fought against a 1st-Class Otherworldly.

Even the Great Calamity had only seen the brief emergence of one before it retreated due to a lack of materials to aid its entry and a firm resistance from the Will of the World.

And so for that reason, injuring Winter, even slightly, was equivalent to a miracle that few thought possible.

Instinctively, they turned their attention to Alex who had his gaze on Charlotte.

Her figure continued to flicker which seemed normal at first glance but Alex could tell that it was no simple damage.

If Winter’s anguished cry had been any stronger, Charlotte would have vanished from existence, never to be called upon again.

It once again reinforced in his mind the might of the dreadful creatures standing at the peak of the Abyss.

He called her back into his shadow with the understanding that it would take a long time before she would recover from the damage to her existence.

Once done, he turned his attention to the wounded Otherworldly struggling to deal with the injury Charlotte had inflicted.

Perhaps due to its special state, this was the first time it had received such but Alex was not content with just that and so made a move.

He snapped repeatedly without pause, resulting in the emergence of several White Holes around Winter’s face, then fusing them, he created a contained blast equivalent to a small bang.

What occurred next was a terrifying blast that ruptured a hole through space, revealing the void beyond.

Of course, Winter was also affected as the sheer force behind the explosion shoved it right back through the rift.

Then, Alex glanced at Humphrey, who quickly realized what he wanted from him.

Taking a deep breath, Humphrey transmuted air, utilizing it once again as material to bend space to his Will.

With the Will of the World weakened, the rifts were destined to expand if left alone so it was up to him to forcefully cauterize the wounds inflicted on space.

Just like that, the rifts disappeared and Winter was repelled.

Alejandro quickly transformed back into human form before calmly intoning with a surprised look on his face. "It worked."

"You expected it not to work yet you came with me?" Alex glanced at him with a raised brow.

Alejandro shrugged. "I was prepared to die fighting, after all, only in glorious battle can a great warrior like myself die."

Alex nearly facepalmed as he wondered why he had to be around people who had little regard for their lives.

Meanwhile, Humphrey was still in a slight daze as he stared at the frozen town ahead.

Its inhabitants had only been kept alive at Winter’s will, so with her gone, they were already dead, freed from torment.

Just then, he sensed movement causing him to look back.

Both Alex and Alejandro had sensed the same as they looked back as well just in time to see Adelia along with the Exarchs arrive close to their location, the former of which was carrying a golden-haired baby.

Alex instinctively backed away, prepared to snap as he realized the identity of the baby Adelia was carrying.

Meanwhile, Adelia’s expression shifted as her gaze swept over Humphrey’s new form.

Letting out a sigh, Humphrey smiled as he lightly scolded. "I remember telling you all to run."
