Chapter 186: Time to hunt

A terrifying Authority, one that seemed too powerful to be held by a mere human, exploded from Alex, shocking both Elizabeth and Charlotte.

The duo stared at him, wondering if it was the same man they fought not too long ago.

’Was he hiding his strength?’ Was the thought that crossed their minds.

Alex noticed their expressions and sighed inwardly.

It was going better than he thought.

Ever since his battle with Basar, Alex didn’t dare think that there wouldn’t be others capable of telling apart the disparity between his Powers and the Authority he held.

But at least, it didn’t seem like anyone present could tell the difference at a glance.

Of course, he didn’t plan to rely on it entirely.

Based on what he could sense, even though he could utilize Evernight as he wished, he still couldn’t face Charlotte directly.

So he decided to let Elizabeth handle her.

Meanwhile, the entire battlefield entered a lull before the clash began all because of Alex’s impressive showing.

Even the Blood Cage trembled at the enormous Authority that burst forth like a raging dragon.

In such silence, Alex dared to speak, taking an aloof stance as he remarked. "There is no reason to drag this out any longer. I will give you a chance to retreat but if you don’t..."

He trailed off, allowing his words to sink in before adding in a most chilling tone. "Do not blame me for ending your lives."

As if to drive home his words properly, Alex’s eyes turned completely black, making it seem like the entrance into the void.

His threat seemed to have an effect as the bloodlust exuded by the Silver Knights slowly reduced.

Alex let out a sigh of relief... or at least attempted only to pause as he noticed that one person remained adamant.

Of course, it was easy to guess who it was.

"Do you not fear death?" Alex asked, maintaining his aloof position.

Charlotte managed a smile as she replied. "Enough with the bluff. I’m not a fool."

"..." Alex turned silent at her brazen words.

’She certainly deserves her title.’

Charlotte sneered, seeing as Alex didn’t respond. "Enough talk. Just die."

With that, she exacted her will on the world and the next moment, a terrifying change occurred.

A black and white cloak wrapped around her, adding another layer to her armor and at the same time, a mental wave erupted from her, covering the entirety of the manor.

As if that wasn’t enough, several pillars of blood exploded about her and finally, she muttered.

"Open sesame."

Several doors to the Spirit world opened and out of them, terrifying Lesser Spirit beasts found their way into the mortal world.

Alex narrowed his eyes as he watched all this happen, unwilling to speak any longer.

Meanwhile, Elizabeth closed her eyes as she muttered inwardly.

’As I thought, back then, she was starved.’

Then, as though on cue, Charlotte spoke again. "Last time, you took my arm. This time, I won’t hesitate to end your life!"

Boom

Elizabeth remained steady thanks to the antimagic runes on her arms as Charlotte launched a mental attack.

Alex wasn’t so lucky as he was forced to stagger back in shock, his head throbbing from the intense pain he felt.

’Just what is this?’

Before he could recover, he watched as the Spirit Beasts Charlotte summoned charged at him while the blood pillars began to form different weapons in a bid to bombard the manor.

’A one-woman army.’ Alex muttered inwardly as fear once again rose in his heart.

Just then, Elizabeth spoke in a loud voice, almost like she knew his current state.

"Concentrate on the others!... I’ll deal with her."

"Fucking bitch!" Naturally, Charlotte was offended by Elizabeth’s audacious words as she created a sword using blood and struck without hesitation.

Luckily, thanks to Elizabeth’s timely intervention, Alex was able to recover quickly enough.

Clicking his tongue, He could guess that Crow Mask was more conscious of him at this point, which was why he was using every opportunity to lower Alex’s guard.

"Dirty bastard," Alex muttered as he took a deep breath.

Reminding himself why he had to fight, Alex hesitated no longer as he snapped his fingers.

Pulsating black and white erupted from his shadow and in an instant, Eternal Night was created within the confines of the Blood Cage.

Then, he snapped again with even more pulsating black and white coming together to form a variety of wild beasts.

He sent the wild beasts to grab the ankles of the Spirit Beasts before turning his attention to the blood spears currently ravaging the entirety of the manor.

Clicking his tongue in annoyance, he snapped again causing a circular symbol to appear behind him, equal parts black and white.

Unleashing a beam, the spears were destroyed in an instant but that wasn’t the end as even more were formed using the blood pillars as a source.

’An automatic weapon system.’ Alex guessed as he knew there was no way Charlotte could control everything at once.

Of course, this conjecture did nothing to lower her battle strength.

Seeing her fight on equal footing with the same woman Alex sensed death from and even pushing her back, Alex sighed as he wondered just how the Great Families were able to defeat such terrifying creatures.

Just then, he sensed the movement of the Silver Knights within Eternal Night.

It seemed they planned on hitting him with a pincer attack from all sides.

Their speeds were too quick for him to focus on their heads long enough to blow them up with excess information and if not that they were wary of him, it wouldn’t have been difficult to blitz him without Alex getting a chance to put up a decent defense.

This was the difference between a mindless monstrosity and well-trained elites.

Alex clicked his tongue yet again as he snapped his fingers.

He wasn’t about to lose his life when he hadn’t gotten to the final boss yet.

A cloak made of shadows with twinkling white lights covered his figure and in an instant, he disappeared into the night.

It was time to hunt.
