She suddenly asked, "Do you...know something?"

Alexander was fastening her seatbelt at the time and unconsciously looked up and turned his head upon hearing this.

In an instant, the distance between them was no more than two fingers apart.

Seen through the car window, any uninformed passerby might think the two were engaged in some intimate activity.

Chloe almost drowned in his gaze, and quickly looked away, "Never mind, let’s just drive."

She touched the seatbelt and added, "It’s already fastened."

Alex hooked the corner of his mouth and straightened up all of a sudden.

"Alright, let’s drive home."

Chloe felt a little strange inside, and her mouth unconsciously enjoyed the sweet taste of the lollipop.

Stepping through the main gate of the Fosters, she realized she hadn’t stayed here for many days.

Since they were making significant progress in the laboratory, it wouldn’t be long before a finished product could be made and put into experiments.

If successful in removing the side effects of her condition, she would have little reason to come here again.

Thinking of this, she began to appreciate her surroundings more seriously.

Alex parked the car and caught up with her.

She turned and glanced at him, her eyes filled with laughter, "Are you going to wear that nose all day?"

Alex, seeing the laughter in her eyes, replied, "It’s worth it."

"Brother! Chloe?"

Robert Foster came running out, a bundle of question marks had formed in his mind, and in the end, he couldn’t help but laugh while holding his stomach.

Pointing at Alex, Robert turned to the house and shouted, "Dad, Mom, come quick and take a look at the elder brother, it’s hilarious!"

Going over to them, Robert stared at Alex’s red nose, laughing for a while before saying to Chloe, "You really did it, making my brother wear something like this."

Chloe responded with a cold face, "He put it on himself."

"Really? Pfft - brother, when did you fall in love with clowns?"

"Chlo-Chlo is back-"

Evelyn Thompson’s delighted voice could be heard from afar.

She hurried out, her face filled with happiness and relief.

As soon as she grabbed Chloe’s arm, she didn’t let go. She laughed and said, "Come in and eat, Aunt Evelyn has prepared lots of delicious food that you love."

Chloe pressed her lips together and gave a slow smile, still tasting the sweetness of the lollipop on her lips.

She couldn’t help but look at Alex.

Why did everything today feel so different than usual?

Usually everyone was warm and welcoming, but today, that warmth seemed to have multiplied many times over.

In the living room, William Foster was holding two stuffed toys over a meter long and smiled at her, waving the bunny’s ears and saying, "Welcome home, Chlo-Chlo."

Pop, pop, pop...

Colorful confetti fluttered down, and Robert casually draped the confetti tube over his shoulder, winked at her and said, "Welcome home."

Just then, a fluffy Samoyed ran towards her, lying at her feet and courting attention. The headband on its head had the words "Welcome Home" and it glowed in the dark, while its colorfully dyed tail wagged with sparkling dots.

Watching this scene, Chloe’s heart felt enveloped by a warm, melting feeling.

It was a feeling that was both surprising and somewhat bewildered, as if she was in a dream.

She racked her brain trying to figure out if today was any special day.

Her birthday?

That had already passed.

There were no other special days that she could think of.

As she thought, she was led to the couch and sat down.

Alex saw that her lost and apprehensive look was gone, the corner of his mouth curved slightly, "I’ll go change."

She didn’t respond, seemingly not hearing him at all.
