Chapter 339
Evelyn handed her a glass of iced fruit juice, saying, "Lunch will be ready soon, Aunt Evelyn gave all the servants the day off today and will be cooking personally. Make sure to eat your fill later."
As she spoke, she reached out to tidy up Chloe’s stray hair, her eyes full of affection and warmth.
With a gentle middle-aged voice, William said slowly, "Your Aunt Evelyn’s cooking is better than any chef’s. Once you’ve tasted her food, you won’t like anything else. Today, uncle is blessed by your fortune to be able to eat so many delicious dishes at once."
About to bite into an apple, Robert silently raised his hand in disagreement, "I object to that statement. It’s obviously biased due to personal feelings. I think brother’s cooking is the best, followed by the family’s chefs, and then mom’s comes third."
Having said that, he looked at Chloe Collins and asked, "Right?"
Chloe, hugging and petting the fluffy Samoyed, replied, "Aunt Evelyn’s is the best."
Robert pursed his lips and said, "You should get your taste buds checked."
Chloe didn’t respond to him, simply continued to pet the dog with a smile.
Her mood was easy-going and pleasant.
Suddenly, she noticed Evelyn working alone in the kitchen, running around looking for something. She immediately got up, walked over, washed her hands, and helped out by washing the vegetables.
Suddenly—
Seeing this scene, William, who had just come out of the bathroom, raised his eyebrows and hurriedly said, "Chlo-Chlo, put that down, girls don’t need to do these things. In a while, let your Brother Xian do it. Be good, go sit down."
Evelyn turned around when she heard this and quickly pushed her out of the kitchen with a smile, "Go play games with Cain. Just ask your Brother Xian to help me."
Chloe felt embarrassed, but said, "It’s fine. I want to learn anyway."
"You want to learn to cook?" Evelyn widened her eyes in surprise.
Chloe hesitated for a second before nodding her head somewhat uncertainly.
In fact, she wasn’t really interested in cooking, more so in eating.
However, today, she truly wanted to learn.
Having an additional skill isn’t a bad thing.
At that moment, Alexander Foster came into the room after changing his clothes. Evelyn’s eyes spun, and the corner of her mouth curved into a somewhat mischievous smile.
"Alex, come quickly! We haven’t had a taste of your cooking in such a long time. Show us what you’ve got."
"Chlo-Chlo wants to try your cooking too. Right?" Evelyn asked, turning around with a smile.
Chloe glanced at the woman’s warm smile and couldn’t help nodding.
Alex silently tied his apron and walked into the kitchen area.
The kitchen was spacious. Evelyn was frying vegetables on one side while Chloe and Alex washed and chopped vegetables on the opposite side.
Chloe wanted to chop the vegetables, but he took the kitchen knife from her.
He handed her a potato and two bell peppers.
"Take it slow. There’s no need to rush," he said.
Chloe glanced up, wanting to roll her eyes.
"That sounded like something you’d say to a child."
Alex couldn’t help but laugh, "Aren’t you still a child?"
"So you admit that you’re getting old?" Chloe retorted sharply.
Alex’s laughter froze.
Chloe smirked and held up the washed potato, walking over to his side, "Let me try."
He was just slicing ginger, with practiced skill, which seemed fun to watch.
Alex handed her the knife and moved to the side.
Chloe tried to recall his technique earlier, pressing the potato with one hand and holding the knife with the other as she attempted to slice it.
Although the slices appeared satisfactory, they were actually uneven in thickness.
"Want me to teach you?" Alex asked.
"Alright." Chloe agreed without any hesitation, admitting that she didn’t know how to do it.
Alex stood behind her, his hand covering hers as she held the knife handle while his other hand reached around her side to hold the potato in place.
Chloe felt her entire body tense, her breath hitching slightly.
She hadn’t expected to be taught this way, hand-to-hand.
