High School of Demon Hunting
Chapter 672 - 20: Little Tricks_1

Chapter 672: Chapter 20: Little Tricks_1

Zheng Qing had never imagined that he would have any connection with the word ’forbidden curse’.

Of course, in Old Yao’s philosophy class, he had briefly understood the origin of forbidden curses — because this world is infinitely vast and hard to describe, wizards used dimensional formulas to make it convergent. Through convergence, the characteristics of the world were intensified, which ultimately led to the creation of forbidden curses — this was the only clear understanding Zheng Qing had of forbidden curses.

As to rumors that the First University stored four forbidden curses, demons concealed one or two, and the school had a mysterious department specifically to manage forbidden curses and so on, they were so speculative that they were hardly credible, not amounting to any real understanding at all.

So, when Su Shijun told him seriously that his shadow had used a forbidden curse to blow up more than a thousand two-dimensional worlds, Zheng Qing’s first thought was ’Is this a scam! Is the school eyeing the hundred-plus jade coins I just earned?’

Of course, this thought vanished instantly.

After all, this was the First University, with the highest number of Grand Wizards, Alchemists, Potion Masters, Array Masters, Fu Masters, and so on in the wizarding world. Jade coins earned from the residue leaked from those research institutes could drown Zheng Qing. Not to mention his hundred odd jade coins, which probably couldn’t even buy a hexagonal stone platform under any large light sphere outside.

"My shadow used a forbidden curse to blow up over a thousand worlds? That’s impossible!"

"Wouldn’t I know if I could use a forbidden curse?"

"Look at it this way, would the school — or the Wizard Alliance — let someone as unstable as me, who can use a forbidden curse, roam around undisturbed, even participate in a hunting competition? Are they not afraid I might blow up the Earth!"

Confronting the narrative of the Good Lady Su, Zheng Qing refuted it from all angles, while also guessing with a sliver of hope: "Maybe that forbidden curse was learned by my shadow in those two-dimensional worlds?"

Su Shijun looked at the young male wizard with the gaze of looking at a fool, finally shaking her head.

"Your shadow couldn’t have learned the forbidden curse in those worlds. The two-dimensional world does not belong to a fully regulated world and can’t give birth to the foundation of a forbidden curse."

Having said this, the witch paused, bit her lip, mimicking Zheng Qing’s tone to add: "Look at it this way, the two-dimensional worlds connected by those large light spheres were all opened by the school’s own wizards, with elements and rules added by ourselves. Do you think there are wizards here who could control ’forbidden curse’-like magic?"

Zheng Qing was left speechless.

Indeed, as a laboratory for basic theoretical research, especially one headed by a councillor at the Under the Moon meeting, the school is unlikely to cram any forbidden curse knowledge into it.

This was an understanding among all human wizards.

Perhaps sensing the public fear of the student, Su Shijun comforted: "I know you can’t possibly master a complete forbidden curse... as far as I know, the first-generation forbidden curse developed by the school requires more than forty Grand Wizards to work together to be released. Of course, there are rumors that the school has developed second or even third-generation curses that require fewer wizards."

"But no matter how much it’s reduced, it’s not possible to be reduced to a non-registered wizard... So, I guess you probably only know some key curse formulas related to forbidden curses..."

"My shadow." Zheng Qing quickly corrected: "I sure don’t know about it, but that loose shadow should... You should be asking it, not me."

"Just because Big Black is already taken away by the ’relevant department,’ that’s why I can be so sure." Su Shijun blinked and then she laughed: "I can tell you in a whisper that the Taoist who took away the black cat is from the school’s Forbidden Spell Management Office..."

"You can’t possibly say this in a whisper." Zheng Qing couldn’t help sighing as he glanced around instinctively.

Su Shijun didn’t mind his banter and continued lazily: "... The old men in the council encouraged me to interact more with you, hoping to get some substantive content from you, and can use some methods when necessary... of course, they don’t know about our relationship..."

"We originally don’t have any relationship, okay?" The public student pulled a wry smile, muttering under his breath. He involuntarily started imagining the scene of Good Lady Su seducing him.

Honest to say, he is not the one suitable for keeping secrets. Maybe Good Lady Su just needs to remove her glasses to thoroughly expose all his embarrassing moments from childhood till now.

"What methods will you use?" When Zheng Qing said this, he didn’t think through it. It was merely a conditioned reflex from the excessive nonsense.

Su Shijun squinted her eyes, peeking at him with an ambiguous smile as if she saw through his trivial tricks.

"Let’s see...this, this, and this." The witch snapped her fingers, and three things appeared out of thin air in front of her: a glass bottle containing half a bottle of transparent liquid; a small whip; and a straw man.

"The gentle approach involves a truth serum; more intense...whipping can really hurt; even fiercer if I bind some of your hair to the straw man and poke it a few times, you can directly fall into a long nightmare."

The young public student couldn’t help but shiver, his mind’s tantra was instantly dissipated completely.

"I...I really don’t know!" He stuttered repeatably in assertion of the truth, hoping the witch can accept his claim.

"I know you don’t know." Su Shijun sighed, waved her hand, and put away those three terrifying objects in front of her. She tilted her head with a grin and said, "Perhaps you really know... what’s the big deal. I’m not those old blokes from the council."

Although Zheng Qing didn’t fully understand the witch’s words, he knew for sure that Good Lady Su didn’t intend to use those ’methods’ on him. He sighed in relief deep down.

At this point, Su Shijun seemed to remember something, turned and walked over to a tall cabinet beside her. She opened the cabinet door and took out a long red wooden box.

The young public student stared fearfully at the box, dreading the witch would pull out some new strange ’method’.

"I was occupied chatting and nearly forgot about the main issue." Good Lady Su clapped her hand on the box, handed it over to Zheng Qing, "The other reason I called you here today is because of this."

Zheng Qing took the box home, his face blank.

Su Shijun’s next words drove away his confusion, making him overjoyed: "...In this rookie competition, your hunting team came first, and this is the gift we’re giving you."

Pausing, as if the witch remembered something, she quickly added: "Of course, this gift is given to you in consideration of Poseidon, and there is no other meaning. Don’t overthink..."
