Eleanor tossed back her shot, the tequila burning her throat. Mia laughed and clinked her glass against Eleanor’s.

"Cheers," Mia said, her voice blurring.

Eleanor nodded, taking another sip. She had called Mia immediately after her meeting with the investigator, telling her everything. Mia had suggested they go to the club where there is loud music and alcohol that could drive away her sorrows.

Eleanor’s thoughts turned darker. She grabbed Mia’s arm, pulling her close.

"Mia, why do I feel like I’m tied up to a journey of no return?" Eleanor asked, her voice barely audible over the music.

Mia’s expression softened. "Ellie, you’re only looking for answers. Everything will be fine."

Eleanor’s eyes locked onto Mia’s. "But where do I even start?"

"You start with what you know." Mia shrugged.

Eleanor’s gaze landed on the fully stocked bar. Without a second thought, she grabbed a tumbler and started pouring different splashes of whiskey, vodka - anything she could get her hands on.

She woke up in a fluffy bed, her memories began to blur. She was in a hotel room. She remembered dancing with Mia, laughing and spinning to the music. But after that, things got fuzzy.

Suddenly, the bathroom swung open and a figure emerged. It was Sebastian. Eleanor’s gaze were drawn to his chiseled body, his broad shoulders and chest were evident and his dark was well groomed.

"Good morning, Eleanor," he said, his voice soft. "How are you feeling now?"

Eleanor swallowed hard, trying to act composed. "What happened? How did I get here?" She asked in a slightly demanding tone.

"Well, your friend called me, that’s why."

"I couldn’t take you back to your house, so I just brought you to the nearby hotel." He explained, his tone serious.

Mia had called Sebastian immediately when she noticed how drunk Eleanor was, and she couldn’t take her home at midnight.

Eleanor couldn’t bring herself to face Sebastian. She remembered how much she drank, and wondered about the stress she must’ve put Sebastian through.

Just then, her eyes drifted off to her body, and she noticed a change of clothing. Her eyes widened in shock as she turned to Sebastian.

"Did you get me changed?" Eleanor felt a lump form in her throat.

"Oh, about that, yes I did! Don’t worry about that, my eyes were tightly closed while doing that." Sebastian said in a teasing tone.

Eleanor buried her face in shame. She had never been changed by a man before, not even by her contract husband.

Sebastian handed her a cup of steaming hot coffee. "Drink this," he said with a smile. "Caffeine will help sober you up."

Eleanor drank the coffee. She felt a burden leaving her body, as the hot liquid soothed her parched throat.

Liam sat behind his desk. He had fully resumed work, and was ready to take over his empire.

There was a soft knock at the door. His eyes were fixed at the door as Cleo entered.

"Good morning, sir," Cleo said with a crisp voice.

Liam raised an eyebrow. "Any information about my wife?"

Cleo cleared her throat. "Yes sir! According to reports, she was last seen at a restaurant with an unidentified man. Then, she headed to a club with her best friend. Nothing more."

Liam shifted slightly in his seat. "Do you know why she met the man?"

"Not really sir, we couldn’t understand what they talked about." Cleo explained.

Liam screwed up his face. "It’s okay. Just track my wife’s location and send it to me. You may go now."

Cleo nodded and exited the office.

Liam had stayed up all night, waiting for Eleanor to return. Not that he cared if she’s in danger, but he just wanted to remind her of how she shouldn’t be seen outside or tarnish his name.

Unfortunately, Eleanor didn’t come back. He gave up and went to his room and drifted off to sleep.

As Cleo left, Liam remained seated, deep in thought. Then, a familiar figure appeared in his office.

His eyes widened in surprise as he exchanged pleasantries with his unannounced guest.

Mia bursted into Liam’s office like a whirlwind, her high heels clicking on the marble floor. She slammed the door shut behind her, making the window rattle.

Liam looked up from his computer, startled by the sudden visit. "Mia, it’s been a long time." He greeted.

Mia’s eyes locked onto Liam’s, a hint of smile playing on her lips. "Liam, I see you’re busy as ever," she said, her voice dripping with sarcasm.

Liam’s expression didn’t change. "What brings you here?"

Mia stalked over to Liam’s desk, her eyes scanning the room. "I just wanted to discuss something with you. About your wife."

Liam’s eyes narrowed. "What about her?" he growled.

"Oh, I think you know exactly what I’m talking about." Mia’s lips curled up in a sly grin.

Liam’s gaze remained on Mia, his eyes burning with curiosity and a demand for her to elaborate. He didn’t say a word, but his silence seemed to press upon Mia.

Mia’s smile grew wider as she settled into the chair opposite Liam’s desk. "Liam," her voice was tender. "Can I ask you something?"

Liam’s jaw tightened. "Depends on what it is."

"Are you happy?" She searched his face, her gaze pierced at him. "In your marriage, I mean." She added immediately.

Liam held his gaze for a long moment, his expression cold.

"Listen, Mia. I don’t have time for this. And you need to leave, no one should see you here." His tone turned dismissive.

Mia’s smile never wavered. "Oh, you should stop acting so concerned. Your beloved wife is in the hands of her lover now." She added.

Liam’s mood changed in an instant. His eyes widened, and his face pale. He couldn’t believe what Mia was telling him. In as much as he never cared about her, he had never heard even a whisper of an affair.

But on a second thought, it actually made sense to him. Eleanor hadn’t come home since last night, and when he tried to call her, she wouldn’t pick up.

Just then, Liam’s phone buzzed with a notification from Cleo. ’Your wife’s location’
