HER POSSESSIVE BILLIONAIRE -
Chapter 23: The sudden realization.
Chapter 23: Chapter 23: The sudden realization.
Liam stepped out of the prison gates, blinking in the bright sunlight.
He took a deep breath, feeling a sense of freedom wash over him. He had been freed of all charges after some of his influential business partners testified on his behalf.
Liam had ordered Cleo to prepare a tinted sleek black car for him. At least, he wouldn’t be recognized by some angry reporters who could be waiting for him.
He quickly entered the car and they drove off immediately.

Eleanor entered the gates of the grand mansion of Liam’s residence. She was greeted by the familiar sight of the grand entrance.
Sebastian had dropped her off after she insisted on going back to face whatever awaits her.
Agatha, Liam’s longtime maid rushed over to greet her. "Ma’am, how have you been?" She asked, her voice trembling slightly.
Eleanor forced a smile, feeling a mix of emotions. "I’ve been fine, Agatha. Just a lot to take in lately."
Agatha’s expression softened. "You must be exhausted. Why don’t you go upstairs and rest?"
Eleanor nodded, making her way up the grand staircase, her hand running along its rails. As she climbed the stairs, her thoughts turned to Liam and how she had ended up in this situation.
She entered her room and slowly closed the door behind her. She took a deep breath and tried to clear her mind.
Eleanor walked over to the full-length mirror in her room, her fingers gently ripping off her dress. She let out a feel sigh as the fabric fell away from her body, revealing her lacy silk bra and matching panties.
She quickly entered the bathroom and turned on the water, letting the warm water cascade over her body. She closed her eyes and allowed herself to relax.
As she dried off and got dressed, a thought crossed her mind. She remembered the small study off the dining room, the one Liam had always forbidden anyone from entering.
Eleanor made her way downstairs, her heart pounding in her chest. She pushed open the door to the study, stepping inside.
The room was dimly lit, the air thick with dust. Shelves lined up the walls with documents and papers.
The room hasn’t been cleaned for a very long time as Liam forbids the cleaner from entering. Eleanor saw it as an opportunity since Liam wasn’t around.
She began to sift through the papers, her eyes scanning the pages. There were financial reports, business deals and letters. So many letters.
As she looked deeper into the stacks, Eleanor started to notice a pattern. There were mentions of a company she had never heard of, a company that seemed to be tied to Liam’s business dealings.
She brought out her phone and quickly snapped the contents of the documents. She left the study immediately there was a horn at the gate.
Liam walked into the siting room. He was struck by the quiet atmosphere. The only sound was the soft ticking of the clock at the corner. The room seemed to be holding its breath, waiting for him to make a move.
Eleanor and Agatha were already waiting for him at the dining table, their eyes fixed on him as he approached. Agatha, who had been informed of Liam’s release by Cleo, had prepared a sumptuous meal in his honor.
"Welcome home, Mr. Liam," Agatha said, her voice warm and inviting. "We’re glad to have you back."
Eleanor nodded in agreement, her eyes locked on Liam’s. "Yes, welcome home." She said, her voice soft.
They began to eat in silence, the clinking of forks against plates was the only sound in the dining room.
Eleanor had a lot to ask Liam but remained calm after she noticed the impassive look on his face.
Then, Liam’s phone buzzed with a call, he reaches for his phone without a word. His expression was mixed with concern as he stared at the caller ID.
He took a sip of water and left the dining room, signaling he was done with the food.
Eleanor sat still for a while as she thought of her stand in his life.
She knew that their marriage was only a transaction, but she had never imagined that it would be as bad as this.
"Madam, the food is getting cold," Agatha said while she tapped her. Her voice was filled with concern. She had seen everything that just happened from the kitchen.
Eleanor nodded her head, exhaling loudly. Soon, she was done she headed back to her room.
"’What a day," she said to herself.
Eleanor’s sleep was cut short when her phone buzzed with a notification reminder. Groggily, she sat up, rubbing her eyes.
She had hired an investigator to look into the document she had snapped at Liam’s study. They decided to meet at an open restaurant.
She went to her closet and picked a moderate dress. Then hurried out of the house.
When she arrived, the investigator was already there, sipping on a cup of coffee. Eleanor slid into the chair across him.
"Did you find anything?" She asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
The investigator nodded, his eyes locked on hers. "I took a look at the photo you sent me. It’s a document. And it’s encrypted.
He pulled out a small laptop and inserted a USB flash drive. His fingers flew across the keyboard, clacking its buttons.
Suddenly, he stopped, his eyes widening.
"What is it?" Eleanor asked, her heart racing.
The investigator leaned in, his voice low. "This document...it’s related to the PINNACLE AGENCY."
Eleanor’s eyes went blank, her mind racing. Where had she heard the name before?
And then, her memories began to flood back. The mention of a company, a name that has stuck in her mind even after all these years.
Her parents had been working for the PINNACLE AGENCY before they died. They had been investigating something, but she never knew what.
She wondered what had happened a few years ago. A realization settled on her shoulders.
