HER POSSESSIVE BILLIONAIRE -
Chapter 22: Get me out of here.
Chapter 22: Chapter 22: Get me out of here.
Eleanor sat at Liam’s desk, her eyes scanning the unfamiliar surroundings. She had decided to take Sebastian’s words and keep her husband’s company in check.
She took a deep breath, steeling herself for the challenge ahead. Her first task was to meet with the stakeholders to reassure them that Liam’s business was still on track.
As she entered the conference room, she was met with the faces of the stakeholders, noting their shocking expressions. She tried her best to appear calm and composed.
She cleared her throat and began to speak. "Good morning everyone. As you all know, this is an unexpected turn of events for us, but I want to assure you all that Liam’s company is in good hands." She said, her voice steady.
"He’ll be released soon, and until then, I will be taking care of things." Eleanor added.
She paused and the room fell silent. The stakeholders exchanged uneasy glances. She was able to field questions and address them with ease.
The meeting went on smoothly with discussions about the company’s growth and success.
Soon, the meeting was over. Everyone was filing out of the conference room. Eleanor remained seated, her eyes scanning the notes and documents scattered across the table. She could feel the weight of the moment pressing down on her.
From afar, she only saw Liam as a ruthless billionaire. But now that she was tied to him, she realized that there was so much more that met the eyes. Meanwhile, she had called Sebastian to come pick her up as soon as the meeting was over.
The conference room door opened, and Hercules Thompson walked in. His imposing figure and chiseled features commanded attention.
"Eleanor, may I have a word with you?" he asked, his voice cold.
Eleanor nodded, gesturing to the chair across from hers. Hercules sat, his eyes locking into hers.
"What is it?" She asked, looking at him with confusion.
"I just want to make sure we’re on the same page," Hercules said, his voice firm. "Now it’s time to take what rightfully belongs to you. With Liam behind bars, the business is in your hands. I want to help you make the right decisions."
Eleanor recoiled. "What are you talking about?"
Hercules shifted closer. "Listen to me, all you have to do is cooperate with me."
"Transfer all of Liam’s assets into your name. His company, his properties, everything. And then, we’ll get rid of him." He whispered.
Eleanor’s eyes widened in shock. "You can’t be serious." She spat at him.
Hercules’s voice hardened. "I am very serious, Eleanor. I’ll take care of you. You don’t have to worry about anything."
Eleanor’s anger rose. "You’re only interested in the business, aren’t you?" She demanded. "You’re trying to manipulate me and get what you want."
Hercules let out a bitter laugh. "We both are very aware that Liam married you for his own benefit. Let’s not pretend that he cares about you." He said in a harsh tone.
Eleanor couldn’t believe her eyes. She never knew Hercules was hiding his main personality just to get close to her.
"I want to know if you had anything to do with Liam’s set-up," she demanded in a firm tone.
She was convinced he has something to do with Liam’s frame-up. With Liam out of the way, it would benefit him a lot.
Hercules shook his head, his eyes wide. "Don’t be ridiculous, Eleanor. Think about it." He said, his voice low. "You have a lot to gain."
With that, he turned and walked out, leaving Eleanor feeling like a lost lamb.
She stood there, still wondering who she could trust in this whole mess. It was a maze of suspicion and deceit, and she didn’t know where to start.
Hercules Thompson, Liam’s business partner, had seemed too eager to take over the company since Liam wasn’t around.
She sat there, lost in thought until a gentle tap on her shoulder broke the spell. She turned to see Sebastian standing beside her, a look of concern plastered on his face.
"Is everything okay?" he asked, his voice soft.
Eleanor forces a smile, trying to appear calm. "Nothing, I’m fine."
Sebastian’s eyes narrowed, his gaze piercing. "Are you sure?"
Eleanor stood up, smoothing her dress. "Really, Sebastian. It’s nothing. Let’s just get out of here, okay?"
Sebastian’s eyes lingered in hers. He nodded, offering his arm. "Okay, let’s go."
Together, they walked out of the conference room.
************
Liam paced back and forth in his cell room, fully furnished according to his taste. His mind raced with thoughts of how Eleanor would handle everything.
He had been here for a few days, and he was starting to lose hope.
The sound of footsteps echoed outside his cell. The door burst open, and a correction officer stepped in.
"Inmate, you’ve got a visitor," the officer said, his voice gruff.
He followed the officer to the visitation room, his eyes scanning the area for a familiar face.
Selene walked in, her eyes cast downward in respect. "Sir," she said, her voice soft.
Liam nodded, his expression serious. "Selene, what’s the latest? Any progress?"
"I’ve come to update you on the company’s progress." She stood still.
Liam nodded, his expression serious. "Go on."
Selene cleared her throat. "Sir, the stakeholders meeting went well. Your wife presented a solid plan, and the stakeholders seemed reassured.
"And what about the investigation." Liam added immediately.
Selene hesitated before speaking. "Yes sir. We’ve made a breakthrough. We found the person behind everything."
Liam’s eyes narrowed and his interest tripled. "Let me see."
Selene glanced around the room, ensuring they were alone. She quickly brought out her phone and showed Liam the footage.
Liam’s eyes widened in shock as she revealed the content. He had been receiving information from them even inside the cell, and he had ordered them to find the person that released the information to the reporters, no matter what it would take.
They were able to review the CCTV footage near the broadcasting room and had a clue.
Liam’s face darkened, his jaw clenched. "Get me out of here!" he ordered.
