Chapter 73: Elemental Class Heaven’s Pact – Nethersoul Emperor Poison
Chen Mei, who heard what the twins were saying, also had a strange expression on her face.
Despite knowing the twins were trying to butter her up to appease her anger, she couldn’t help but feel a slight bit of satisfaction from hearing all those compliments.
As a result, her anger slowly started to dissipate.
When Huang Bei and Lin Feng saw that the almighty young miss of the Chen Clan had actually started to calm down, even Huang Bei’s jaw dropped in shock.
He clearly hadn’t expected the young miss to be susceptible to these kinds of tactics, and he mentally noted this information for future reference.
For Feng, on the other hand, this was the first time he had ever witnessed such a thing, so to him, it was like an entirely new world was opening up in terms of how he should treat people stronger than him.
If you’re facing someone weaker than you, just destroy them.
If you’re facing someone equal to you, fight to the death. If you’re facing someone stronger than you, butter them up and hope for the best!
These were the kinds of thoughts running through Feng’s head when he saw Chen Mei’s reaction, his eyes glittering.
Huang Bei, seeing the look in Feng’s eyes, hesitated for a moment before eventually speaking up.
"Hey, Feng, I don’t think it’s a good idea to imitate the style of those two idiots."
"Why? Isn’t it very effective?" Feng replied, clearly unconvinced, as his brain worked overtime trying to think of ways he could have handled situations better if he had known about flattery.
"That really depends on the person you’re dealing with. You should consider who you should butter up, because most of the time, if you tried something like that, you’d just get slapped to death," Huang Bei said seriously, patting Feng’s shoulder as Feng grimaced from the pain.
A weird silence passed between them as they suddenly remembered they were seriously injured, and any time wasted before they could get treated would likely lead to their deaths.
"Is this really the time to be talking about this?" Feng smacked his hand on his forehead as the emerald poison wreaked havoc on his body.
His integration with his Heaven’s Pact had disappeared long ago, and he was back to his old self.
"I don’t know. It’s gonna be difficult to find an antidote for this poison unless we ask the Chen Clan for help. They’ve always specialized in the trade of poisons and antidotes," Huang Bei said as he coughed up a mouthful of blood.
Clearly, neither of them had the time to talk about random things.
Yan Hao and Yan Li panicked upon seeing the condition of both of them.
Yan Hao glanced at the girl in front of them and screamed, "NOOOO!! ELDER BROTHER HUANG! ELDER BROTHER FENG! DON’T DIE!"
Yan Li, realizing what his brother was doing, quickly followed up, looking at Chen Mei first before shouting, "NOOOO!! ELDER BROTHERS, YOU CAN’T DIE LIKE THIS!! WE’RE ALMOST AT THE CHEN CLAN, THEY’VE ALWAYS BEEN THE MASTERS OF POISON ARTS, THEY CAN SAVE YOU!!"
Chen Mei, hearing the two of them scream their lungs out, shook her head and spoke with a bit of irritation.
"Alright, you idiots, I get it. You want me to help them out, right? You don’t have to keep looking at me like some lost kids begging for help."
Yan Hao and Yan Li, hearing that Chen Mei was willing to help, exchanged quick glances with each other. They bowed their heads once again.
At first, they wanted to say something to butter her up again, but seeing the condition of Lin Feng and Huang Bei, they sobered up a bit and thanked her sincerely.
"Thank you, young miss. Us two brothers will never forget this debt we owe you."
Chen Mei, seeing the serious look in the eyes of the two twins, finally felt the last bit of anger she held toward them disappear. She nodded her head with a bit of satisfaction.
"Hmmp, I guess you idiots can have gratitude in your hearts."
As Chen Mei started walking toward Huang Bei and Lin Feng, hoping to remove the poison from their bodies, Chen Yang, who had been quietly observing the entire exchange, suddenly spoke up. His voice was filled with malice.
"Did you really think I would just sit here and let you do whatever you want, Chen Mei? Aren’t you looking down on me too much?"
Chen Yang began gathering spiritual energy from the surroundings as Nethersoul poison started to seep into the air, the ground, the trees, and everything around them.
Chen Mei, who had already taken a few steps forward, suddenly stopped and turned around. Her beautiful purple eyes narrowed as she smiled.
The smile was breathtaking, like a poisonous rose—beautiful but untouchable.
Yet, the smile wasn’t a smile at all, for it was filled with surging anger as she spoke.
"Oh? Do you think you’re qualified to speak those words to me, Chen Yang? Do you want me to beat you up so badly that you won’t be able to move for the next month?" Chen Mei smiled even more beautifully, yet everyone could feel a powerful pressure once again enveloping the surroundings.
It was even stronger than the spiritual energy pressure released by Chen Yang.
More importantly, the Nethersoul that was seeping out of Chen Mei seemed to be more potent than Chen Yang’s.
It even looked slightly different—whereas his Nethersoul was just pure purple, hers had white streaks outlining it, like a crown.
Huang Bei, seeing the purple and white Nethersoul poison surrounding Chen Mei, suddenly spoke up, explaining to Lin Feng what he knew.
"See that? You asked about what was special about the Young Miss aside from her poison spirit body, right? Well, that’s it.
It’s called Nethersoul Emperor Poison, a mutated form of the Chen Clan’s already extremely powerful Heaven’s Pact.
Not only is the Young Miss the strongest person of the younger generation within the Chen Clan, but she’s also the most talented person to show up within the Chen Clan in a thousand years."
