Heavenly Rebellion: The Human Race's Rise to Prominence -
Chapter 61: Four
Chapter 61: Four
Rewinding time a bit before Feng’s transformation, a conversation echoed in his mind.
Hey, System, how much of my spiritual energy reserves have been consumed? Feng asked, a trace of worry creeping in.
Even though he had broken through to the 6th level of Qi Condensation, he wasn’t sure how much spiritual energy his spiritual arts consumed.
[Responding to host: Because the host has killed humans with Heaven’s Pact, the system has absorbed some of their spiritual energy to replenish the host. The host does not need to worry at the moment.]
Oh, so that’s why I didn’t feel any fatigue. He had been confused at first—he had just used Ruler’s Howl, yet it barely felt like any of his spiritual energy had been drained.
The reason became clear: every time he killed one of the bandits, his spiritual energy was replenished.
Let’s go all out. If I take too long, Huang Bei could get seriously injured.
Back in the present, Feng had already killed three bandits, their dissipating energy flowing back into him, bolstering his reserves once more.
His gray eyes flickered to the left, locking onto Ting Li.
Without hesitation, he dashed forward again, the ground beneath him cracking under the sheer force of his step.
Ting Li’s eyes widened in panic. Seeing three of his comrades fall one after another—at the hands of someone who was only at the 6th level of Qi Condensation—was nothing short of terrifying.
Desperation crept into his voice as he shouted at the remaining bandit.
"Hey, you bastard! If you don’t want to die, get over here and help me!"
This time, however, things were different.
Unlike the others, Ting Li was far stronger than a typical 6th-level Qi Condensation cultivator.
Even with Feng’s strength, taking him down would require effort.
Unfortunately for him, when Feng was fully integrated with his Heaven’s Pact, he became an entirely different monster altogether.
BOOM.
In just a few moments, Feng was already right in front of Ting Li, his fist barreling toward his chest—ready to either tear him apart like the last bandit or send him flying.
Ting Li’s eyes widened in shock, completely unprepared for Feng’s sudden burst of speed.
He barely had time to shout, "What the hell? How are you that fast?!"
Before he could finish speaking, Feng’s fist slammed into his scimitar, sending a powerful shockwave of spiritual energy rippling through the surroundings.
Ting Li was blasted through the air again, but this time, he managed to steady himself, quickly gathering spiritual energy within his body as he launched a counterattack in midair.
"Shadow Spirit Art: Slash of Darkness!"
A massive dark blade of energy slashed forward, dimming the surroundings as it tore through the air.
But Ting Li wasn’t done.
The moment he regained his footing, he dashed forward, moving in perfect tandem with the other bandit—who also activated his Heaven’s Pact.
A sledgehammer wreathed in dark spiritual energy hurtled toward Feng’s back, its oppressive force bearing down on him.
Feng could feel the pressure closing in from both sides.
It was in that moment that a realization struck him—he had managed to kill the previous three bandits so easily because he had been quick and efficient, never giving them the chance to gang up on him.
But now, facing two enemies attacking in unison, even with his integration, winning wouldn’t be easy.
Fortunately, Feng had already thought about a solution for this sort of situation.
Just as both attacks were about to land, Feng opened his mouth and howled.
AWOOO!!!
A massive soundwave once again swept through the surroundings.
However, this time, Ting Li was more prepared.
The moment Feng unleashed Ruler’s Howl to paralyze them, he reacted instantly—gritting his teeth, he stabbed his own leg with his Heaven’s Pact in a desperate attempt to stay conscious.
"AHHH!!! DAMN YOU!!" he roared.
The pain was excruciating, but it worked.
Using this brief window, he lunged forward, unleashing three rapid slashes.
Ting Li was clearly trying to overwhelm Feng, using his bladelights to corner him into a desperate situation.
But thanks to Ruler’s Howl, the other bandit behind Feng had been completely paralyzed, unable to continue his attack.
That meant Feng only had to deal with the strikes coming from the front.
Without hesitation, Feng gathered darksilver spiritual energy in his claws.
They suddenly doubled in size, turning into massive, razor-sharp claws brimming with terrifying power.
"Blackwood Dominance Art: WOLF BANE!!"
He slashed with his right claw first, sending a surge of spiritual energy crashing into the Slash of Darkness.
The clash sent a powerful shockwave through the air, but Feng had the upper hand—his explosive energy shattered through the attack.
The three follow-up slashes closed in on him, but he didn’t falter. With precise movements, he wielded his claws like blades, unleashing a flurry of darksilver claw marks that tore through the incoming bladelights, scattering them apart.
Seizing the opening, Feng dashed forward and sent a devastating kick straight toward Ting Li’s head.
Unfortunately for Ting Li, the paralyzing effects of Ruler’s Howl had been strengthened due to Feng’s integration and his Alpha Wolf Domain.
While Ting Li had managed to keep himself from collapsing outright, the stab wound wasn’t enough to completely negate the effects.
His body still reacted subconsciously to the lingering fear, dulling his instincts and slowing his response.
He simply didn’t have enough time to block.
BOOM!
Feng’s foot smashed into Ting Li’s head, driving him straight into the ground. But even as he was sent hurtling downward, Ting Li refused to go down without a fight.
With a desperate counterattack, he slashed toward Feng’s body, his blade gleaming with dark spiritual energy.
However, he had made a grave mistake—he underestimated Feng’s ruthlessness.
If he were the kind of person afraid of pain, he wouldn’t be Lin Feng.
The scimitar sliced into his waist, the dark energy amplifying its lethality.
A spurt of blood splashed into the air.
Yet, thanks to his powerful physique, the wound was too shallow to be anything more than a nuisance.
The same could not be said for Ting Li.
Fueled by the pain, Feng’s rage ignited. Without hesitation, he lifted his leg high into the air—
He brought it crashing down.
BOOM!
A deafening impact shook the ground as dust and shattered stone erupted into the air. Ting Li had miscalculated.
He had expected Feng to retreat, to avoid the attack—but instead, Feng had taken the hit head-on and retaliated with even greater force.
Blood splattered across the battlefield.
Ting Li’s body lay motionless.
His life was over.
