Chapter 62: Yi Bei

After Feng killed Ting Li, he deactivated his integration to preserve his spiritual energy—he didn’t want to waste it on a cultivator only at the sixth level of Qi Condensation.

As he looked behind him, his gaze fell on the only remaining bandit.

Even though he was no longer integrated, the powerful suppressive force of his domain had only grown stronger with each successive kill.

Only one kill left to go, Feng thought to himself as he prepared to rush forward and end the fight.

But before he could move, the last bandit suddenly let out a terrified scream.

"AHHHH!!! I DON’T WANT TO DIE!!!"

Panicked, the bandit turned and bolted deeper into the forest.

He didn’t run toward the ongoing battle between Huang Bei and Li Bei—he likely believed that if he went there to ask for help, Li Bei would just execute him for failing his mission.

Instead, he figured his best chance of survival was to flee into the forest.

As Feng watched him run, a few thoughts crossed his mind.

Do I chase after him? No, that’s probably not a good idea. Huang Bei’s fight is more important.

Just then, Yan Hao and Yan Li, realizing the fight was over, slowly stepped out of the carriage while Chen Li remained behind.

"When you walked out of that forest alone, I knew you were strong, but I didn’t think you’d be this strong."

Chen Li shook his head, clearly astonished by Feng’s display.

Killing three sixth-level Qi Condensation cultivators and one at the seventh level, especially when they were fighting together, was an impressive feat.

"Yeah, you’re probably as strong as Huang Bei—maybe even stronger," Yan Hao said, looking at Feng with shining eyes.

"Hey, Feng, you should probably go check on Huang Bei. Even though both Huang Bei and Yi Bei are at the eighth level of Qi Condensation, from what I’ve heard, Yi Bei is a tier above him. His Heaven’s Pact is quite special," Yan Li said, his expression serious.

Feng nodded and tried to excuse himself. "I need to go help Huang Bei. I doubt that last bandit will come back after all this—he’s probably terrified."

Yet before he could take a few steps, Old Chen spoke up with a suggestion.

"Wait! Take these two with you. Maybe they can at least do something useful. I doubt they’ll be any safer staying with me than they would be with you and Huang Bei," Old Chen said, pointing at the twins.

The twins nodded in agreement. "Yeah, we’re also worried about Huang Bei."

Feng paused for a few seconds, weighing the risks.

In the end, he nodded. "All right, but you need to stay far behind me. Once I start fighting, it’ll be hard for me to focus on anything else—especially if Yi Bei is as strong as you say."

"Right," the twins nodded seriously, clearly not wanting to be the ones to hold Feng back.

"After all this is over, I will reward you handsomely, Lin Feng," Chen Li said, his tone serious.

"You don’t have to worry, Old Chen. I didn’t help you guys for money anyway... but having more is always better than having less," Feng replied with a slightly awkward smile.

When Chen Li heard Feng’s words, he laughed, but his tone quickly turned serious. "You should go now—don’t waste time with me."

Feng nodded and dashed ahead toward the first carriage, with Yan Hao and Yan Li trailing behind him.

Even from a distance, his heightened senses allowed him to feel the intensity of the battle between Huang Bei and Yi Bei.

The sheer force of their clash made him even more anxious, and he instinctively sped up.

Within seconds, he reached the battlefield—and it was a disaster. Silverpine trees were corroded by a greenish poison, their bark rotting away. T

he ground reeked with a noxious stench as the poison seeped deep into the earth.

In the center of it all, Huang Bei was kneeling, his body covered in green blotches.

His breath was ragged, his face contorted in pain—he was severely injured.

"Oh? How did a rat like you get here? What happened to Ting Li and the others?" Yi Bei asked lazily, looking utterly bored.

Feng, however, ignored him completely and rushed toward Huang Bei.

"Hey! Huang Bei! Are you all right? Can you survive?" Feng shouted anxiously.

Even though the others had warned him that Yi Bei was strong, he hadn’t expected this.

Huang Bei was at the same cultivation level as Yi Bei, yet he had been utterly overwhelmed.

There was only one explanation—Yi Bei’s battle prowess far exceeded that of a normal cultivator.

When Huang Bei saw Feng arrive, he quickly looked up and asked, "What about the others? Are they fine?" His eyes locked onto Feng’s, filled with concern for Chen Li and the others.

"They’re fine. I dealt with all of them.

One of them ran into the forest, but I doubt he has the guts to come back," Feng said calmly, his voice laced with killing intent.

Huang Bei was inwardly shocked. While he could probably have done the same, he would have been injured in the process.

Yet when he looked at Feng, aside from a cut at his waist—already beginning to close—he seemed completely unscathed.

"Thank you," Huang Bei said, bowing his head slightly in gratitude before turning his gaze toward Yi Bei.

The bandit was casually picking his nose, looking as if none of this had anything to do with him.

"This guy is strong, Lin Feng. His Heaven’s Pact is called the Emerald Poison Toad. The poison it releases burns like fire, corrodes flesh, and forces you to constantly use spiritual energy to resist it. In a prolonged fight, beating him is basically impossible," Huang Bei said, his voice filled with frustration.

Clearly, he found this battle unfair.

"The only reason he managed to beat me like this is because he just kept throwing poison at me and running away. He never fought me head-on until I was weak enough that he could finish me off," Huang Bei added bitterly, glaring at Yi Bei.

Yi Bei simply gave him a mocking smile before turning his gaze to Feng.

"So, kid, you killed all my subordinates. Guess that means I have to kill you too," he said casually.
