Chapter 85: Remember
At this remark, everyone turned toward the source of the voice. They saw Rainy in casual attire, standing at the entrance and looking around as if searching for someone.
Selina was thrilled. She lifted her leg, ready to go toward Rainy.
"Teacher Rainy is here. I want to go over and say hi."
Richard’s eyes brightened; following Selina for all these days had indeed paid off.
"Then I’ll go, too..."
But to his surprise, Selina glanced at him coldly and said, "You better not. If Teacher Rainy finds out my partner is... Never mind, forget I said anything."
Richard’s eyes widened. "What do you mean? Didn’t we agree that I would be your partner and you would introduce me to Teacher Rainy?"
"That was before. The point is, I didn’t expect your skills to be so poor that you would make me lose to Diana.
"Now stop following me. If Teacher Rainy sees that I’m associated with you, it won’t be good for my image."
With that, she excitedly walked toward Rainy while Richard stayed behind, his fists clenched.
This woman was just like that—selfish, arrogant, and self-centered. If it weren’t for her promise to introduce him to Rainy’s resources, he would not have given up the gentle and obedient Diana...
Thinking of Diana, he looked at her sitting in a corner with Cecilia and adjusted his expression before going to approach her.
Diana initially also wanted to go see Rainy, but Cecilia held her back and made her sit in the corner.
"There are too many people now; it will only be a hassle."
Though she didn’t understand why Cecilia was so sure Rainy would come over to them, she trusted Cecilia and obediently sat down.
It wasn’t a long time before Richard walked up to her, showing his usual gentle demeanor as he spoke to her softly, "Diana, you played wonderfully today."
She frowned. It was this same soft attitude and a few of his sweet words that had tricked her before. Now, hearing it only made her feel disgusted.
"What do you want?"
He reached out to touch her hair, but she dodged it decisively. His hand awkwardly hovered in the air.
"Seeing you on stage reminded me of when we practiced together before—so in sync, so beautiful..."
Diana rolled her eyes hard.
"Stop it! You’re not as good as Cecilia, so don’t flatter yourself."
Richard’s smile faltered, his expression slowly crumbling.
"Diana, how long are you going to keep this up? All I did was team up with Selina. You know how hard it’s been for me to get where I am today. She told me she could introduce me to Teacher Rainy, and that’s the reason why I partnered with her. Can’t you be more understanding and cut me some slack?!"
Diana snorted coldly. "Be understanding? Why should I? I can’t, and I will not sacrifice my future for your dreams. Your background has never been a reason for you to use me!"
Seeing her so determined, Richard couldn’t hold back anymore after everything he had suffered through while with Selina. He pointed angrily at Diana and rudely said, "Using you with my background? Do you really think there’s anything left I could use from you? Your family has long been nothing but an empty shell—who else do you think would want you besides me?!"
Hearing his words, Diana trembled with anger.
Meanwhile, a crowd had already gathered around Rainy.
She was dressed in casual clothes today, her hair tied high, while her expression was distant, exuding an aloof aura. Despite that, who would know that beneath this cold exterior of hers was a heart brimming with excitement?
Selina elbowed her way to the front row. She smoothed her wrinkled dress and greeted Rainy with a smile.
"Teacher Rainy, do you remember me? I’m Selina."
Rainy glanced at Selina, sizing her up and down before replying, "I remember. Selina."
Selina was thrilled. A few days ago, her parents had suddenly told her that Rainy was unavailable and couldn’t tutor her. However, she had already spread the word about receiving Rainy’s guidance, so she continued her pretense while urging her parents to try harder to invite Rainy.
It wasn’t until this morning that her parents had told her that they had reestablished contact with Rainy, prompting her to try and greet her.
However, they did not tell her that Rainy had outright rejected them after receiving a hint from Cecilia. They just couldn’t stand Selina’s pestering and had lied about making contact.
The good news was that Rainy remembered her.
The bad news? It was only because she declined the tutoring request.
Rainy nodded to the crowd and then said, "Sorry, everyone. I’m here today to find someone important. Please let me through."
After hearing her, people made their way as they let her leave quickly.
Rainy could hardly wait to start gossiping about Cecilia.
On the other hand, Selina looked smug as she basked in the admiration from the crowd.
"Oh my, Selina is amazing; Teacher Rainy actually remembers her!"
"Yeah, but where is Teacher Rainy rushing off to?"
Hearing this, Selina turned back to glance at Rainy.
