Chapter 366: Transcended Fourth layer Rule of Fire
The corrupted flames screeched as if in agony. But instead of rejecting Apollo’s flame, they began to swirl toward it, gravitating like lost children finding their parent. Bits of corrupted essence burnt away in the golden-black flame, cleansed instantly. Others resisted, flaring violently.
Apollo clenched his fist.
"This will be a bit difficult," he said quietly, "but if I can dominate and purify even a portion of this... my Sovereign Flame will evolve beyond its current state."
He turned toward his guardian, eyes hardening.
"Protect the perimeter. No one gets close."
He then jumped in the centre of the valley. And the golden-black fire clashed against the corrupted tide. The air howled, and the entire secret realm trembled.
The golden-black sovereign flames started to fight and swallow the corrupt flames. As both the flames fought for dominance, the entire valley seemed to transform into a fiery hell, so that even if looked at from a distance, the eternal god would feel their souls burn.
The space around them seemed to be burned and destroyed, but thankfully the mysterious power of the secret realm and the runic formation covering the Rion came into play and controlled the destruction from spreading outwards.
Apollo didn’t care about what was happening to the land; rather, he was fully focused on the flames, as they were really terrifying. Even his physique, which surpassed most high-grade divine weapon levels, still felt burning churn through his skin. He felt like he was in the middle of the sun that seemed to be cooking him raw slowly.
The flames surged, shrieked, and devoured.
The corrupted fire of the valley was not passive—it fought like a beast wounded and enraged. Its nature was chaotic and unpredictable, containing fragments of death, abyss, decay, and some unknown soul-rule that Apollo had never fully encountered before.
Every moment felt like being pierced, burnt, and unravelled—not just in the flesh, but in soul and spirit.
Apollo gritted his teeth, standing amidst it all, a figure wrapped in a vortex of fire.
Every time the corrupted fire tried to crawl into his body, they lashed out—devouring it, refining it, and feeding it back to Apollo like pure essence.
His clothes were long incinerated. His skin turned a shimmering bronze from the heat, cracked and bleeding golden light in places, as the Sovereign Flame began to evolve.
"This... pain... is nothing," he muttered, gritting his teeth, eyes half-closed, focusing his will into the very core of the flames.
With time and his strong will, along with his exceptional talent, he started to get the hang of it. Slowly the burns on his body started to decrease as they seemed to not be able to overcome his natural regeneration.
His sovereign flames started to overpower the corrupted flames as they were slowly purified and absorbed by him.
The valley around him began to transform—the twisted, corrupted flames slowly began to lose their dark hue.
What had once been purple-black flames dripping with abyssal energy were now being consumed and reborn as new strands of sovereign flame, coiling around Apollo like celestial serpents, crackling with rules of destruction, flame, and something... new.
It was subtle at first.
But as the corrupted core of the valley began to break down, a third rule signature appeared—deep, primal, and ancient—something outside the laws of their universe. It wasn’t an abyss. It wasn’t death. It was something mysterious that did not belong to any category of rules.
However, it was so mysterious that even for him it was too difficult to understand; he could feel something within it which might contain some massive secret, but his current self and amount of that mysterious power were too small to fully understand the essence of it.
He instead focused on fire and destruction rule, which, with the strengthening of sovereign flames, once again showed signs of improvement.
A wave of enlightenment surged in him.
His golden-black sovereign flames suddenly exploded, swirling into a massive black sun with a core of molten gold—radiating not destruction alone, but rebirth. The dark clouds of corrupted energy shuddered, then collapsed inward.
Flames rushed to Apollo.
And then—silence.
The valley, once a raging hell, stood still. Burnt. Hollow. Transformed.
Apollo hovered in the centre, his body surrounded by new Sovereign Flame—no longer golden-black, but etched with faint red cracks, glowing like magma veins.
And with this transformation, his rule of fire and destruction spiked and started to rise rapidly, especially the rule of fire, which, coming from behind, quickly surpassed the rule of destruction.
It didn’t stop until it broke the great barrier between the third and fourth layers of rules and became the first rule to reach the transcended fourth layer, which also represented the trademark power of being above the eternal god realm.
The moment Apollo’s Rule of Fire broke through the third layer and pierced into the fourth, the entire hidden realm trembled.
A long-forgotten resonance echoed across the land — as if the will of the realm, ancient and sealed, recognised his ascension.
The magma-like cracks in his Sovereign Flame pulsed.
And then—
Boom!
A column of fire erupted upward like a sun awakening after a thousand years of sleep. But this flame was different — not just scorching or consuming, but alive, divine, and authoritative.
It wasn’t just power anymore.
It was truth.
The sky seemed to burn, and for a moment everyone on Rion who understood even a little bit of fire law seemed to feel their understanding suddenly increase a level.
"This is... the fourth layer," Apollo whispered, almost disbelieving.
He could feel it now—every flame in the realm was his to command. No matter its source, nature, or rule—it recognised him as its superior.
The Rule of Fire, now elevated to the fourth layer, wrapped around his soul, spirit, and core.
Even the rule of destruction shuddered slightly, as if feeling left behind.
But Apollo wasn’t greedy. As his rule of destruction also improved quite a lot, although it didn’t break through the fourth layer, it still reached the peak of the third layer, increasing the strength of his flames.
Now his strength had definitely reached the top echelon of peak eternal gods, as the fourth layer rule’s power is beyond any doubts. Even if the rule of fire wasn’t some rare rule with just the fourth-layer fire rule, he could defeat most peak eternal gods, not to mention with the combination of his other rules he understands.
