Chapter 365: Terrifying Flames
The barrier surrounding the hidden realm disappeared, and it became visible to all. Naturally, the noise it created was noticed by many nearby and attracted a lot of attention.
From the scattered smaller clans of the Withered Plateau to the reclusive sects close to the Twilight Ranges, powerful cultivators turned their heads toward the spectacle. Ancient beings resting in slumber stirred. Beasts lurking deep within cursed forests howled and fled in instinctual fear.
The moment the barrier fully collapsed, a thunderous pulse echoed outward like the roar of an awakening terror.
What had once been invisible to both the mortal and divine alike now stood revealed — a land steeped in abyssal death energy and trembling with lingering remnants of ghostly purple flames, still shivering in fear of what had devoured them.
Messages spread like wildfire.
"What just happened? "Why is the land trembling?"
From distant strongholds, scouts and adventurers were dispatched. Some were greedy. Some were cautious. A few were ancient beings merely curious. But all came chasing the same thing: the power that made the earth tremble and the heavens fall silent.
And at the centre of it all stood Apollo — wreathed in his burning Sovereign Flames — calm, composed, and already one step ahead.
His expression changed as he checked the surroundings of the hidden realm. He can feel a powerful aura hidden within different corners, but for some reason they didn’t seem to come out and stop him.
Not only that, the major surprising thing was that he could be sure this realm should be a fragment of the Black Flame Sovereign realm, as he felt the similar aura of flames hidden in the death and abyssal aura.
He could feel it.
There was a flickering echo of the same terrifying might he had felt and inherited back in the Black Flame Sovereign Realm. But here, it was... broken. Drowned under waves of death and abyss. Warped, yet undeniably part of the same lineage.
He closed his eyes for a brief moment, letting the black-gold Sovereign Flames swirl gently around him.
They responded like a compass — subtly pulling him toward the depths of the realm, as if something there called out to them. A core. A heart.
The guardian behind him stepped forward. "My lord... Should we proceed?"
Apollo slowly opened his eyes. A faint golden light danced across his fingers.
"Yes. "But carefully," he said, voice low. Since he felt this place might be a fragment of that war, he needed to be careful, as eternal gods were not much in the face of those powers.
He turned his eyes toward the west, where the flow of powerful flame energy was. His Black and Gold Sovereign flames seemed too excited as it felt the familiar power.
"If I can claim this portion of flames and purify it..." A pause. A hint of ambition in his eyes. "The Sovereign Flames might... evolve again."
With that thought, he and the guardian moved forward, but they remained vigilant, as there were quite a few powerful auras within the realm; even though they, for some reason, didn’t attack them, they still needed to be careful.
They quickly went deep within the hidden realm, and the closer he got to his destination, the more the black and gold sovereign flames became agitated.
Thick mist laced with death energy rolled across the ground, and strange, whispering winds echoed words in forgotten tongues. But none of it slowed their advance.
Each step forward was met with growing resistance — not from enemies, but from the realm itself.
The black and gold Sovereign Flames coiled around Apollo like sentient serpents, burning brighter and hotter with every passing moment.
Apollo didn’t answer immediately. He was listening — not with his ears, but with the very will of his flames. He could hear it now: a low, rumbling heartbeat
. Not his own... but the heartbeat of the realm itself.Thump... thump...
As they reached the mouth of a broken canyon, Apollo paused.
He was shocked, as what he saw was an entire valley that seemed to be burning with numerous kinds of flames, corrupted and filled with eerie energy.
The ground itself was scorched and cracked, yet something pulsed beneath it, as though the land breathed.
At the heart of it all, a massive pyre burnt — tall as a mountain, churning with sovereign fire and abyssal death, locked in a terrifying embrace. Every now and then, a surge of energy would erupt from it, rippling through the sky like thunder without sound.
Apollo’s black and gold Sovereign Flames responded instantly, writhing and roaring, craving... devouring... as if trying to leap from his body toward the pyre.
He lifted a hand, calming the flames with sheer will, but a sheen of sweat appeared on his brow.
Even for him... this place was dangerous. The power hidden in this flame was extraordinary; even if it wasn’t corrupted like now, it would still be dangerous to absorb such terrifying flames, not to mention in the current state where it seems to have merged with abyssal power and seems to have mutated, making it more dangerous.
Apollo exhaled slowly, his breath forming a spiral of glowing heat that vanished before hitting the ground.
But seeing the fragments of that war and destruction, he couldn’t help but wonder if the other secret realm that appeared on Rion is also like this, a wreckage of other ancient realms. If that’s true, what is their connection with Rion, and why did they appear here?
But after those thoughts, he let go of them, as it wasn’t the time to think about that; instead, he focused on the thing right ahead of him.
"This... is the Heart of the Fragment," he whispered, eyes glowing with intensity.
His guardian stepped closer, his voice tense. "My lord... this place could burn even an eternal god. The flame essence is unstable..."
Apollo nodded. "Yes. That’s what makes it valuable. And dangerous."
He extended his hand slowly, letting a wisp of his Sovereign Flame drift toward the valley. The moment it touched the swirling storm of corrupted fire, the entire canyon shuddered.
A chain reaction rippled through the valley.
