Chapter 87: Angelic Wave vs Hawk Fury (1)
Under normal conditions, the Hawk Fury team was better structured than the Angelic Wave team.
A Control Mage, who possibly uses ice to control. A Tank, two damage per second (those who use spears), and two secondary attackers who use long swords. Added to this was a possible Soul Mage.
A coordinated group of seven members like this was difficult to defeat, especially since Angelic Wave had neither a controller nor a direct tank, as that was not the strategy they were looking for in a five-on-five match.
That’s why it was complicated, but they had advantages that the Hawk Fury team did not have: a few people capable of turning a fight around on their own.
When the tank was 10 meters away, the two fire mages erupted with power and shot toward him, launching a powerful fire attack that engulfed the surrounding area.
The members of Hawk Fury acted quickly, coordinating their movements to compress themselves into a smaller star, allowing them to respond more rapidly to assist the tank. At the same time, the two spearmen shot off to find their targets.
What they didn’t expect was that their targets shared the same intention, and they faced each other one-on-one in the middle of the arena.
On Jenna’s side, the fighter facing her was shocked to find himself dragged backwards by the first impact. ’Master Rank?’ he thought in shock as he watched her unleash such powerful force.
Meanwhile, on Elliot’s side, his opponent also rolled backwards, albeit to a lesser extent.
The moment Elliot and Jenna reached their targets, a strange coldness enveloped them, and the ground seemed to wrap itself around their shoes, preventing them from looking at each other.
Elliot looked down at his feet. ’The Controller,’ he thought, but when he looked over at Jenna and saw that she was doing the same thing, he smiled.
Unequal strength on the flanks, as in their case, is not usually recommended in any strategy. After all, if one flank is more powerful than the other, it may not be able to coordinate perfectly with the other.
But this was used by Elliot and Jenna to create an opening in the hexagonal star formation, as Jenna was able to hit her opponent harder than Elliot.
And they did have similar strength, so while one rolled 4 meters backward, the other ended up almost level with one of the swordsmen, nearly 10 meters behind.
The difference between the gap on one side and the other meant that no one could help the tank except the controller, but this gap...
It was the perfect spot for Andrew, who quickly jumped into the air, over the tank, and aimed his enormous hammer at the Control Mage.
"Be careful!" a shout rang out from behind, forcing the Mage to take a few steps back and deactivate his containment abilities.
Then a powerful hammer attack echoed across the arena. Despite the powerful impact, the metal of the arena barely felt it.
It was made to withstand attacks from people powerful enough to make this seem like child’s play.
However, the impact was powerful enough to disorient the Control Mage momentarily, and the hammer bounced off the ground, then striking the Mage’s body. A powerful blow struck him squarely in the abdomen, sending him backward and knocking the wind out of him.
Despite that, it wasn’t that powerful.
"He’s a Control Mage with vitality as his attribute." Andrew smiled; it was problematic, but nothing he couldn’t handle.
Control Mages belong to the Varied Mages group and usually team up with Summoner Mages. Their primary attribute is Sense, but they also have a secondary main attribute that often complements their skill.
In this case, for a Control Mage whose control ability is Ice, their secondary attribute is naturally Vitality, which would allow them to act as a secondary tank, much like the Fire Mage Tank they had.
He wasn’t focused on that, but he could fulfill the role if the team needed him to.
That’s why he played in that position.
But Andrew wasn’t just any hammer wielder. Even if he faced a genuine Tank, once he managed to land his attacks in quick succession on his targets, there was no way he could be stopped.
And he had already landed two, right where he wanted them.
He smiled coldly and jumped back into the fray without hesitation.
While that was happening, Elliot and Jenna managed to open up the flanks with force, thanks to their ability to isolate the combatants. In a moment, both had visibly distinguished themselves in what they did best: powerful and deadly attacks, aimed at taking them down quickly.
Jenna had the easiest situation. With her sword skills, she managed to outclass her opponent, forcing one of the swordsmen to join forces against her.
Meanwhile, Elliot overcame him using his movement tricks and powerful, unique attacks, which carried all his strength. In addition, by utilizing all his stats to their full potential, he withstood everything that came his way and forced the lancer into a passive position.
At one point, the lancer focused solely on defending himself until Elliot’s sword slipped through one of the lancer’s tricks and passed through without doing any damage.
"Shit." Elliot quickly turned around to strike him in a horizontal upward motion.
But then...
His face lit up with numerous fireballs floating above them.
"THROW THEM, DON’T WORRY, I’VE GOT YOU!" shouted the last of the swordsmen, who was busy protecting his companion, as Chris and Rich were attacking him.
Those two, despite moving through the shadows of their comrades, were still spotted by the mage’s heightened senses, which angered them, but that mage...
He was no ordinary.
’He must have up to 50 points in senses,’ thought Chris, complaining about such a disadvantageous situation.
It was then that he, too, was illuminated by a fireball, but he was very unlucky. The fireball was already on his face when he sensed it.
Suddenly, different explosions echoed throughout the place.
