Chapter 82: Summoner
Chapter 82: Summoner
Somehow, Attribute Energy seemed to escape from him, forming a strange energy barrier at chest level. It was invisible to the others, but thanks to the special machines here, they could sense something.
Then, five figures emerged from there and appeared with astonishing speed.
Most of them carried special weapons made of the same material as their bodies: energy.
"This..."
"Is he a Summoner?!"
"There’s no doubt about it... Those are summons."
Steward himself was surprised. Summons were already amazing in themselves, but... ’Their strength... Is it low? No, I should say they’re very good for his level, but...’ He doubted the viability of this summoning.
Elliot knew this, so he smiled. "That’s not their limit," he said, words that only Steward and Jenna could understand.
’Is he saying they can be strengthened?’
His gaze practically asked that question, to which Elliot remained impassive, neither confirming nor denying it.
Then Steward sighed.
’Just with what he has right now... The situation in the Tournament of the Star would be practically winnable for him and would be a huge help in the Leveled Leagues. For that alone, I must say he is worthy of the best contract I can offer.’
But he knew that the truth behind it all was still missing. Was he that talented at increasing his strength, or was it just an illusion that made them believe?
If the class was bad, but his ability to grow was absurd... then it would be worth giving him a contract that completely surpassed the guild’s greatest.
After all, they needed to tie someone like that down.
And Elliot didn’t keep them waiting... well, maybe a little.
The first thing he did was measure the strength of his summons.
’A complete team of summoners. Mage, assassin, tank, warrior, and even a berserker... All are strong enough to participate in the Tournament of Stars and go far.’ Steward nodded, though he felt a little impatient that Elliot was taking so long to test his own strength.
But when he finished testing his summons, he stepped forward, placed his hand on the device, and injected his power.
[Age: 18.]
[Good stat distribution. Strong in all areas.]
[Approximate Strength: 43.]
[Approximate Stamina: 38.]
[Approximate Agility: 35.]
Steward and Joferth’s eyes lit up with joy, but also shock.
’Three stats above 35... With the device revealing that he has a good distribution across all four... This is...’
’Too good.’ Steward smiled softly.
’Two treasures arriving together. Both have absurd growth potential, but the one in front of me far surpasses the girl. With that growth between the last time we saw them and now, I have no doubt that he has awakened recently.’
Elliot looked at him then. "Do you think that’s enough? If it’s not yet..." He looked at Jenna and nodded.
She then smiled and took out her weapon again. "Something I forgot to mention is that I’m also a Master of the Sword Arts, and my coordination with Elliot is very good, good enough to get out of the Tall-Or Forest alive."
Despite the surprise of the others, Steward simply nodded softly and moved toward them.
"Come with me," he said in a low whisper to the two of them.
Then he looked at those behind them who were still shouting.
"If any information about them comes to light... you will all pay for it. You, your children, and your families. So think carefully before you say anything about them." He reprimanded them severely.
’Damn, I should have kept this more private,’ he complained, knowing how difficult it was to control these guys’ tongues.
Still, he grabbed them, including Joferth, and took them to his own office.
Then he sat down and reviewed the contracts they had prepared in advance.
’It was 4 million for Elliot and 3 for the girl, but that would be an insult to their talents,’ he thought, looking at his computer.
Then he edited the contracts and doubled the amount.
’This will be difficult. Our resources are limited at this point, but I suppose 8 million will satisfy both of them. We don’t have enough resources to hire a Master Rank, but if we give her more benefits, she will surely accept.’ He thought.
Of course, he had to make sure Elliot also agreed, as he valued him more. Not because of his current strength, but because of his inhuman talent. That’s why he ensured Elliot’s contract was even better than Jenna’s.
It was an astonishing amount, no matter how you looked at it. These weren’t contracts that an Awakened Rank could have.
In this City, Awakened Rankers usually receive payments ranging from $500,000 to $1 million, depending on their abilities. These aren’t annual payments; they’re monthly payments, so the amount they would receive per year would be enormous.
This payment is typically higher for independent guilds that are not Seedbeds, as they offer fewer benefits because they are not part of a larger guild.
However, at Angelic Wave, the average remains within the specified price range.
Master Rankers have contracts worth $10 million or more. For example, Master Steward’s contract is for $20 million, but that’s because he’s pretty close to the next rank, where salaries tend to increase considerably.
In Steward’s eyes, Jenna deserves a contract on par with his, not only because of her future talent, but also because she is already a Master Rank. Unfortunately, he cannot grant it to her.
After the contracts were printed, Steward handed them out.
"Feel free to read it, I’ll explain everything you need to know. First of all, these are $8 million contracts. That will be your monthly payment. It’s a one-year contract, like everyone else here, but it includes several things. First, you must participate in the Tournament of the Stars. Jenna, in the future, you’ll have to do the same in the Leveled Leagues..."
He then outlined the benefits and requirements of the contract.
Joferth, Elliot, and Jenna were all in shock that he had handed out two $8 million contracts so easily.
Isn’t that almost $100 million a year for both of them?
For Elliot, that amount was ridiculous. Plus, there were many benefits, one of which was that a portion of what he earned in the dungeons would belong to him, a very significant portion. In addition, he would be given items and other things he would need during his time here.
For him, it was an amount he had never seen before.
Jenna, on the other hand, was calmer, but still surprised.
"That’s quite a lot. It’s a powerful Rank C weapon or armor every month. I’m afraid very few people in the City would have this. Even my father would be surprised by this contract," she thought.
Although the contract had demands, they were nothing compared to the numerous benefits they offered him.
Both were completely satisfied, and after finding nothing unusual in the contract, they signed it.
Steward smiled when he saw that the signatures were finally in his hands. Somehow, he felt incredibly relieved and relaxed.
"Hahaha. May today, September 25, be remembered as the day this contract was signed," he said.
He quickly entered the details into his computer, and then $8 million was transferred to two bank accounts.
He opened a drawer in his desk, took out two bank cards, and handed them over, everything ready to use.
"Your first payment is right there."
