Chapter 62: Magic Heart

Chapter 62: Magic Heart

Just as she reached the tentacle, she jumped on it in a strange circular motion. Her body propelled forward as if she wanted to fall back down the other side, but then her dark sword fell onto the tentacle.

It wasn’t made of adamantium, so it didn’t cut through it. It was clear that her strength wasn’t enough to cut this octopus. But it was a good tool to propel her body upward once more, taking advantage of the tentacle’s elasticity to spin around its axis, allowing the adamantium sword to strike with precision.

Once. One cut. One deep wound.

The same movement was repeated a second time, as if it were a ball playing with the laws of gravity. Each turn was a cut, and each cut tore a part of the tentacle apart.

But thanks to the fact that it couldn’t stay in one place due to its rotating movements and the elasticity of its tentacle, it looked more like a nut being screwed in quickly.

Its frantic movement began at the tentacle’s tip; five seconds later, it had traveled the entire length, completely shredding it.

A loud crash then occurred, shaking the surroundings with a tremor that rattled the entire room.

Somehow, the octopus seemed to produce a terrifying sound, sounding extremely annoyed. But it hadn’t acted quickly enough; it had already lost a tentacle.

It tried to save its other tentacle, lifting it to dodge Elliot’s attacks, but Elliot wouldn’t let it. Seeing the tentacle move away from him, he jumped toward it, grabbing hold with one hand. His other hand drove the sword firmly into the tentacle and pulled it, quickly bringing it to the other side of the tentacle, circling it in a single movement while in the air.

He didn’t allow himself to fall under the weight of his body. Instead, keeping the sword firmly planted, he began to move in circles over the tentacle with his other hand.

His movement was also similar to Jenna’s, with the difference that he didn’t make vertical spinning attacks, but instead spun around the tentacle, which opened large wounds on it and eventually managed to cut it.

Then a piece of flesh fell to the ground, like a relaxed fish with delicate, taut cuts.

"Elliot!" As he fell, Jenna called out to him. He quickly turned toward where she was pointing and finally saw how one of the tentacles was recovering.

"Magic? Is it a wizard?" Realizing this, his gaze immediately turned to the octopus’s body and focused fiercely on the central area of the body, looking for a source of attribute energy to attack.

He quickly found it, and then he fell to the ground.

He immediately jumped toward the octopus again and shouted to Jenna, "I found its Magic Heart, distract the other tentacles!"

Jenna was shocked. "Huh? How the hell did you find the Magic Heart so quickly?" But her question went unanswered; there was no time.

"Ash." She groaned, but decided to listen to him. ’He must not have much time to talk. Maybe that strange energy covering him is consuming him too much. Let’s do this quickly.’

Focusing her gaze on the tentacle that was recovering, she smiled. ’You’re not going to recover that easily."

.

Elliot managed to jump onto the Octopus’s body and ran through it quickly. He made sure not to lose sight of the Magic Heart, the center of an octopus’s strength, from where it cast spells. It was located near its eyes and glowed a blue that was barely perceptible to his eye.

Approaching quickly, the octopus tried to shake him off, but couldn’t. Elliot held on tightly to the body and jumped to the quietest or most difficult places to move to avoid falling.

When he got there, he found himself in a dilemma.

’How do I attack that spot? The force is enough to destroy a tentacle, but that area is incredibly strong on such a powerful beast.’

He looked around, trying to find a way to do it. The tentacles would soon recover, because Jenna alone couldn’t keep destroying them constantly.

So, he needed an alternative, and he had to be quick.

He looked at the door across the room and also checked that there was no door behind them.

’If that door is there, it must mean we can open it. Perhaps the test of this is not to kill this thing, because that would be ridiculous, but to get to the other side,’ he thought.

In fact, they couldn’t kill this octopus. Not only is it a wizard with regenerative magic, but it also has poison and is very resistant in some key areas. In addition, each tentacle has a strength comparable to Rank C, and there are eight of them.

In a joint attack by several of them, the cumulative force, which is the most important thing in a tentacled beast, would be Rank A, possibly, which would completely destroy them.

Killing something like that for two people barely at the Awakened Rank—equivalent to Rank D—was impossible.

How about a battle of attrition? It was even worse. He couldn’t use his energy all day to avoid the poison; in fact, he calculated that in 30 minutes, he would lose this ability. And Jenna, despite being better than him, could she last 1 or 2 hours?

’Surely not.’

After all, they didn’t have much stamina, so they were at a terrible disadvantage.

The problem was that if they needed to cross to the other side, in a room as large as this one and with a beast as big as that waiting for them, they would need to distract it somehow so that they could both cross simultaneously.

Striking the magical heart was the best way to do it, as it was the only heart Elliot could track and was the source of the octopus’s power.

’Fighting the tentacles is possible from this side due to the distance and their lack of agility, but getting close to the octopus is dangerous if it is fully oriented.’

For an octopus like this, retracting its tentacles and striking its own body is possible. It knows that its advantage does not lie in its tentacles, but rather in the cumulative strength and endurance of its main body, which should be able to withstand the blow.

So if it retracted its tentacles and struck at them while they tried to run, the danger would be imminent and could kill them in seconds.

’An alternative...’

His summons...

He looked at the system to see when he could summon them again.

[Ding]

[You can summon again]

Elliot’s eyes lit up when the system announcement reached him at just the right moment.

Looking around, he smiled when he found something important.

’Bingo.’
