Chapter 119: The danger of being a summoner in a world that fears and hates summoners
As they exited the dungeon, everyone looked at them in shock.
They looked at the stopwatch. Not long ago, they had been discussing how long they thought it would take and whether they would break Tyler Clark’s record.
They had sent out for coffee.
But the coffee hadn’t arrived yet, and they had already left!
Looking at the stopwatch, it was as if lightning struck them.
"59 minutes and 58 seconds."
"You guys... Did you make it through the dungeon?"
"In such a short time?"
Elliot and Andrew nodded.
"It’s been a good hunt for everyone."
"Great..." Steward’s eyes sparkled with amazement. His hands shook with excitement and his heart began to beat faster.
If it had taken them 59 minutes to clear this dungeon, then the team’s strength was incredible.
’With the right training, although they may not reach Master Rank, they could be ready to participate in the upcoming Leveled Leagues. In age, we would beat them all, which the System would look upon favorably. It wouldn’t hurt to try.’ He smiled and quickly walked towards them.
"Hahaha, good. Well, that’s incredible. Not only have you broken the record set by Tyler Clark, but you also did it by over 1 hour. I’m afraid this is indeed an insurmountable record." He laughed good-naturedly.
The organization’s members had no choice but to nod. They would do the research to determine whether it was done properly or if they used the faster route, but later. Right now, they were determined to dream.
This would not only increase the fame of Angelic Wave, but of the entire city as a whole, as this dungeon is known to be incredibly difficult for little Star Knights to clear.
Accomplishing it in less than 1 hour is something worth mentioning.
Although...
They looked at Elliot.
’It’s all because of him.’ They thought.
Of course, they were sure that Jenna alone couldn’t take the MVP in this cleanse, no matter how talented and powerful she was with the sword. Because when it came to dungeons and tournaments, no one was better than a summoner to turn the tables.
But...
This is also the reason why there are not so many Summoners throughout the world.
Everyone fears them.
Everyone is looking for them.
Everyone wants to kill them.
Because they are just plain scary.
They wondered if Steward and Angelic Wave understood what they were in for.
Could they keep him safe?
As Steward planned to leave with them, one of them stopped him before he did.
"Can we talk?" He asked.
Steward looked at him, interested.
’The fourth of the local association’s seven most powerful.’ He thought.
He was the fourth most influential member of the Association, after the three who had participated as judges in the tournament.
His status was great.
Therefore, he nodded.
They both moved a little away.
"Steward, what do you intend to do now?"
"What do you mean?" Steward looked at him, somewhat confused.
"That Elliot kid...he might die soon. We can’t hide these records because they’re already registered with the system. A summoner as talented as him will die sooner or later if he keeps excelling so much." He glanced sideways at Elliot, who talked quietly with the group inside the van.
He could feel sorry for the unhappy fate that awaited him.
He didn’t wait for Steward to respond; he didn’t want to talk too much.
"If you want a suggestion from me." He spoke. "I’d recommend you sell him as a player for those big guilds. Maybe in the Ancient Land or Highland they could give a hell of a lot of money for him. There he could mature without fear of dying. They’re the only ones so far that have been able to raise a summoner, and you know what they’ve become."
Steward knew. He looked at Elliot as well.
Even the famous Lux Guild, the undisputed leader of this forgotten continent, could not successfully raise a summoner. He was killed by numerous people at the gate of the great city of that mythical guild.
Even they failed, how could he succeed?
Although his Runic Kingdom is one of the great guilds of the continent, it is still a developing and growing guild.
Steward felt he should consider it.
He had felt it before, but he was allowing himself to be happy these days. But now that a third party touched on the subject, he was forced to consider it seriously.
--
After doing several things at the guild, Elliot returned with Jenna to his apartment that day.
He needed to see several things from the mirrors, as he had noticed something interesting.
Sitting in his room, Elliot pulled out all of his mirrors. One of them, the one he had found in the dungeon, had writing on it.
It was slightly rounded and appeared to be the middle piece, perhaps one of the main pieces.
"It’s simple writing in the Nurotaur language." Jenna said. She reached for a notebook and pencil and immediately began writing to translate it.
In no time, it was ready.
She was speechless, as was Elliot.
It had three lines written on it.
The first read: Damn traitors, A---, C---.
The A and C were understandable; the rest seemed to have been erased with blood, making it illegible.
Further down were words that were not erased: Bloody Ruined Elf, DANGER.
This is said on the second line. Words written in all capital letters seemed to carry the weight of hatred, rage, and frustration of whoever wrote them. Word for word, it all reflected an intense hatred from the inside out.
But the third line seemed most shocking.
"Word for word... written in the 17 Pieces... Word for word of my vengeance... Of my Desire." Elliot read.
But, as soon as he did, there was suddenly a strange change.
The last words were erased.
"Huh?" They were shocked and checked the piece of the mirror back and forth, but could find nothing.
They immediately realized that they were finding some kind of mysterious hidden treasure. But who were the traitors? Why was so much hatred reflected through these mirrors, and why was it broken?
Who was the Ruined Elf?
What was going on? Was something coming, or is it a mystery of the past?
There were so many questions that seemed to remain unanswered. Elliot felt frustrated.
But, while he was at it, he frowned, seeing this broken mirror and immediately pulled out the other 4.
