Chapter 118: Massive increase in Stats Points (2)
As they walked over it, they were struck by the ruins of a destroyed city.
Buildings, large and small, were ablaze or charred. Blood stained the streets and bones, gnawed by beasts, were strewn about the city.
It was a curious city, for Elliot found traces of advanced technology such as cell phones, computers, and other important electronic devices.
Many were unknown, but they were there. Radios that still worked seemed to play something in some unknown language, or perhaps they were simply making a noise unintelligible to them.
It was strange all around.
It was like seeing Loen City ruined by beasts.
A fleeting thought popped into everyone’s mind: It’s a good thing this world has the Global Awakening System; otherwise, maybe they would have ended up the same way.
Walking through the city, they found that silence was also peculiar. It was a howling silence, like thousands of breaths coming together and creating a sound that prevented silence.
They were the hidden beasts. But even Elliot couldn’t tell where they were.
The city also had another peculiarity: the feeling of death was so powerful that it prevented the senses from traveling too fast. That made it more dangerous, considering those undead could emulate sounds multiplied many times.
But they continued on their way in the city, on guard for anything.
Then...
BOOM*
An explosion shook them. Several of the houses around suddenly collapsed, and the strange sound as if thousands of beasts were heading towards them echoed.
At the same time, powerful undead magic was summoned below them, bringing many undead summons to the surface.
"Now, attack with everything!" Andrew shouted. He raised his giant hammer and swung it at several of these undead.
They gave no stat points, but got in the way.
At the same time, several orcs came at them with a terrifying onslaught, looking to tear them apart.
Then, Jenna leapt over them and summoned her two blades, creating a beautiful dance of elegance and carnage in her wake. Every move she made she jumped from one horse to the next and slit orcs’ throats in her wake, with horses falling to the ground and endless blood in the immediate vicinity.
Although Chris and Rich were not as powerful as she was, they did their thing, moving deftly and killing as many as possible.
Elliot’s summons were also all over the place.
Meanwhile, he managed to wriggle out of the gaze of the orcs and undead to search for the necromancer’s position.
’Down?’ he thought. But he quickly realized no. His gaze strayed to a distant building. It was about 500 meters away, but he saw the guy he was looking for there.
’Nice range, Elder Lich. But your party ends today.’
He quickly started running between buildings and had to bring the summons towards him at one point, as he was too far away to keep them out.
This was another reason to up his sense: the more he had, the farther the summons could be away from him and thus the farther he could summon them, which would be a great advantage territorially over his rivals.
But for now, he had to make do.
Running at full speed, he reached the vicinity of the dungeon boss in no time. The battle on the other side was intensifying, so he quickly climbed to the top of the building.
Upon reaching the top, he had to stop and immediately summon several of his summons to defend against an attack waiting for him.
CLANK*
The thunderous sound of two swords clashing echoed as his warrior’s sword clashed against the sword of a guy who was planning to cut off his head. That sword was no longer the one created with energy.
It was now a real sword, created by Andrew, so it easily shattered the undead’s sword and smashed his head.
Elliot looked at the rest and roared, "Kill them!"
The berserker quickly jumped on one of these figures and smashed its head, scattering the bones on the ground.
But then...
"Impossible for you to kill my little ones!" The Necromancer immediately raised his hands, and from the bones that had just scattered, a new, mighty swordsman was created.
"Oh. Rank D and you can talk already?" Elliot grinned and immediately launched himself at him, using his summons to distract those summoned by him.
There were still two left in front of him, but he didn’t care.
"If you grew up, you would have been a terrifying beast!"
Elliot immediately summoned his sword... not the one Steward had given him, but the one given to him by the Nurotaur.
This sword glowed with determination and shattered the heads of the two undead in front of him, heading fiercely against the Elder Lich’s head.
The latter shuddered to see them die so quickly, so he immediately tried to jump back.
"You’re dreaming!" Elliot summoned the rat right behind the Elder Lich and also the tank to kick it to the side, preventing it from being able to run.
The Elder Lich fell to the ground, rolling. Its low stamina even caused it to spit out part of its bones and strange purple blood with a rotten smell.
"Damn y...!" The Elder Lich tried to get up, but a sword cut his head in half. Another one destroyed his core in his chest, and a third one ended up cutting off his entire lower body.
Then...
All the undead fell to the ground.
Several orcs lost their grip on the previous ground, and the slaughter became completely one-sided.
After receiving several points for killing the boss, Elliot wasted no time and went into combat against the orcs.
This dungeon was a prize. It was difficult, yes, but a prize meant it was a beautiful place to hunt and score points. He would not waste it.
-
After an intense battle, the most powerful D-Rank Dungeon in the city had been cleared. The time it took was unknown to them; they weren’t worried about it.
They grabbed all the weapons and armor they could, but among the rubble, Elliot and Chris found something curious.
"It looks like a broken mirror," Chris said, but he stared at it; he was intrigued by it.
"I have others like it, maybe it’s an item, can I have it? I’m collecting them."
Chris looked at him for a brief moment, but nodded and handed it to him.
"Good. It’s of no use to me anyway. I don’t understand what’s written." He spoke.
Elliot frowned. ’Written?’ He thought and looked at the piece of the mirror.
His eyes sparkled with intensity.
’It’s in the language of the Nurotaurs.’
These days, he’s learned a little to recognize it, but he can’t read it.
’I’ll have to look into it with Jenna later.’ He thought.
After they finished collecting the weapons and armor, they left the dungeon.
Elliot with a radiant happiness, because....

He had gained another 12 points at the end. Considering the ones he gained earlier, killing the ones from the Elemental Academy that he hadn’t added yet, his accumulated points were staggering.
Adding them all would give him a nice jump, but he knew he couldn’t do that. He was getting closer to the God Trials and needed to prepare for it.
