Chapter 117: Massive increase in Stats Points (1)
Being ten against ten, the combat quickly entered a stalemate.
The group’s swords and weapons clashed with the Orcs’ swords and giant axes, turning the place into a small battlefield, although it was only momentary.
Quickly, Chris made a stellar move while one of the orcs was distracted: he threw the sword at his head, piercing it while fighting Elliot.
This allowed Elliot, Andrew, and Jenna to break through the ranks of their opponents and shatter the horses’ legs, forcing the orcs to fall to the ground and roll.
All the summonings and Rich went on the attack at that point.
"Leave them to me!" Rich seemed particularly animated this day, to the point that he managed to wound several Orcs severely, and, with the help of the other three and Chris’s early addition, they managed to kill the first few.
[You have gained one stat point: strength].
It appeared for Elliot the moment three of them died.
’Even though I can’t extract 50%...’ He smiled and perked up, killing one more quickly and totaling the number killed to 4 riders and six horses.
[You have gained one stat point: strength.]
’Another one?’ His eyes flashed with intensity, and he looked at his rivals with desire.
He needed to kill them.
So he tightened his grip on his sword and tried his best to kill more.
In a short time, even though they were ten powerful beasts, the ability of these five plus the summonings had grown so strong that those beasts could do nothing but watch helplessly as the time of their death came.
By the time it was over, he had not managed to kill any of them; he did not give them the final blow.
"Let’s get into it. We finished the first bout quickly. We can break the record and get some good points here." Andrew said as he collected the weapons and armor from the beasts.
"Are they of any use to you? They’re not C-Rank." Rich approached him, curious.
"Of course, they’re of use. Even though it’s not a Rank C dungeon, they’re made of metals. If you melt them under special techniques, you can recycle them into their best state and turn them into powerful weapons." He smiled.
Rich simply nodded. "Are they expensive?"
"Why? You want to sell me?" Andrew looked at him sideways, causing Rich to hold a hand to his neck in embarrassment.
"Don’t be like that with me, Andrew. We are friends, and you have a lot of money. Although my contract right now is good, can it compare to yours? I have a lot of these armors in my inventory. Although they are not that high level, how about buying them from me?" He reached over and put a hand on his shoulder, speaking to him from as humble a place as possible.
Andrew laughed at this shameless act.
"Hahahaha, for a guy who gets a few million dollars a month as pay, that’s pretty embarrassing. But it’s fine. As long as it’s quality metal used by the beasts, I’ll buy it all from you at a good price."
His eyes then sparkled. "Hahahaha, I knew I could trust you. Fine, when we get back, we make the exchange."
The others who were watching that exchange couldn’t help but smile.
Rich would always be Rich .
They resumed their journey shortly thereafter.
This dungeon was a bit spooky, not only because of the beasts that inhabited it, but because of the atmosphere in general.
Not being a "real" dungeon and being one of the open world type, an environment as gloomy and darkened as this one, where smoke gathered above them like clouds and where the sun was non-existent, but the heat was persistent, was appealing to the eye.
For one thing, there is no vegetation, either. Everything in here is a canyon of darkened rock mountains. In the middle, though, was a city in ruins. There stood the dungeon boss with his soldiers.
It was huge, but he had only two ways to get to the city: one was to go straight in, straight ahead. Doing that would solve the record quickly, but it wouldn’t do any good for stat points.
The other path, the one they all take to complete the challenge, is to go through the narrow corridors on the left that surround the canyon. You will find more beasts there.
The territory of this dungeon is typical of Rank C or higher dungeons, which is why it was listed as the most powerful among the Rank D dungeons in the City, so they had to be careful.
They went the long way around the canyon.
Thanks to that, they could kill more beasts, reaching 30.
Elliot had the most people on the ground. He managed to give the final blow to 19 of those 30, and despite the fact that the points score did not remain the same throughout, he managed to get 12 stat points in total.
They were divided as follows: 6 in strength, 4 in resistance, 1 in agility, and 1 in sense. He could have gotten more if he had used the extra 50% his class allowed, but doing that would reveal too much, and he didn’t want to do that.
It was better to keep those things a bit hidden for now.
After reaching the back of the city, they finally stopped as they found no more beasts.
Andrew stopped to talk to them.
"From here on out, we’ll probably have to fight the boss. The boss is weak in melee combat. What is always done is to let one hide nearby and go confront it to kill it, since, by killing it, the undead die, and only the Orcs would be left, which are numerous. At least 50."
Elliot spoke. "You can leave it to me. I’ll use my summons to kill him."
"Fine." Andrew nodded. "There’s not much to say. When all the Orcs surround us, we’ll have to fight in a disorderly fashion, because it will be about 50 or so Orc Warriors fighting as a team. If we let ourselves be cornered, it will be hard to break the encirclement."
After seeing everyone nod, Andrew turned around and started walking straight for the city.
