Chapter 116: Most powerful D-Rank dungeon

While he was in a daze, thinking about what had happened, he pulled out a piece of a watch.

"This is the fourth."

After killing John, among the belongings he managed to steal from him was this small one. There were also scrolls and information.

One of the scrolls was a bit strange. It appeared to be a message and seemed to be addressed to two people: a man whose name was ’Ruin’, possibly a code name.

And also, that little platoon leader who was a close friend of his father.

Although he understood what the message said, it didn’t give him much information beyond that those three were sending messages to each other about something and acting on something.

The mirror wasn’t working, so he couldn’t tell what it was for at the moment, though perhaps it could be used to communicate.

Now, one of the names there was important.

Ruin.

Among the people introduced by the Clark Group who were preparing to participate with them in the Leveled Leagues, that same name appeared on an unknown member.

Maybe it had something to do with him.

Well, there was also a "Sir Ruined" and for the Elemental Academy an unknown "Dark Mantle" appeared.

No one knew their real names, but they didn’t need to know. It was not important.

The point was that powerful foreigners would participate in the upcoming tournament, and from how they looked, they could be incredibly dangerous.

This was what bothered him the most.

Nothing felt normal. He felt like he was in the hands of a giant he couldn’t see but who was controlling everything, and that made him uncomfortable.

What if that giant suddenly decided to act? He could do nothing but die.

That’s why he needed power.

He needed every viable way to get it.

It’s one of the reasons he spends a lot of money these days hiring those Misfits for different tasks. None of them could understand what he was planning, but in reality, he was only looking to slowly wrest power from the Clarks, and recently, he found out that those Clarks had lost too much money.

So he took the opportunity to strike at the most vulnerable moments.

But the danger had increased as well.

And drastically.

Going out now was dangerous. He felt people were watching him, even though he disguised himself well.

So today he decided not to go out.

It was not safe.

But he hadn’t lost sight of his goal: he would destroy the Clark Family.

He was going to kill them, one by one!

Especially Alexander Clark and that Tyler.

But for that, he needed first to win the leveled leagues. The status he would then gain would help him enormously in fighting them, using those little misfits who looked like headless chickens.

He put away the piece of the mirror. He didn’t know what he collected them for, but he already had four. He couldn’t stop right now.

After that, he went to sleep.

The next morning.

At 7 a.m., the Five Star Knights of Angelic Wave gathered in front of one of the most popular dungeons in the City, a D-Rank of the highest category within the D-Ranks.

The entrance to this dungeon is given as an exclusive prize for Star Knights every time new ones appear. And the idea is to keep track of how long it took X group to complete it, as it is a difficult dungeon.

It usually takes 3 hours to clean it. Tyler Clark’s team did it the fastest, taking 2 hours, 33 minutes, and 17 seconds.

The slowest team took 6 hours. Without much mystery, it’s the team where John Clark participated. And it makes sense.

John Clark earned that status only because the Clark Group bought him out. He was utterly useless at it; there’s no way he could have earned it by normal means.

The thing is, each group only gets one chance at a time.

Steward stood next to the second Guild Master and several Association leaders in front of them.

"I don’t have much to demand of you. Enjoy your journey. If you are competitive, try competing against the groups; it’s sure to be fun." The Steward smiled and stepped aside.

"Go ahead. We’ll start timing 10 seconds after you’ve crossed the portal."

Elliot and his group immediately stepped inside.

And soon, they were in a special dungeon—one of the most unique among dungeon types: an open-world themed dungeon inside the portal.

Andrew took the lead upon entering, and Elliot’s summons broke free.

"I hear the monsters here are Undead Horse Rider Orcs." Elliot said, full of interest.

Andrew nodded.

"Yes. They are very powerful too." He replied.

"Oh, right." Chris looked at Andrew. "You’ve been in several times, haven’t you?"

"This will be my third time in the dungeon."

"Do you know how to complete it quickly? We could impose an impossible challenge if we have the advantage of someone who’s been here before." Chris looked interested in this, but Andrew laughed.

"Impossible. There is no quick way to defeat this dungeon. The leader is an undead necromancer, powerful enough with his magic, but his summons are more so. Also, the orc riders are warriors; there are no mages besides the leader. Although they are the weakest, you should know that..." Andrew suddenly stopped talking.

The sound of footsteps alerted them.

Immediately, they all drew their weapons when they heard as if a large army was heading towards them.

The sound was like a thousand horses rushing into battle. For those new here, it got them thinking: do we have to fight a thousand horsemen and their horses?

But Andrew smiled.

"The only trick I can tell you is that you must not let yourself be guided by the resounding of the horses sounding from the crowd." He smiled, and immediately before everyone’s eyes, 10 riders appeared behind a mountain of rock.

They were the only ones coming.

But the sound...

Why did it sound so loud?

"These horses can emulate their own sounds and multiply them many times. So just fight hard and never give up your senses - here, staying sane in the face of a surprise attack by a rider is what will keep you alive!"

Panicking was the worst thing that could happen to a team.
